I loved Amber, bit on the short side but great atmosphere. Couldn't get it to play in a Win Xp Sp2 machine, are you using Virtual Machine or something similar? I'm playing it on my old Win 95/98 computer.

So far, I'm enjoying it very much; it's even more fun than the previous Agon episodes because it's actually longer, has more characters to talk to, clever puzzles, wonderful locations and an interesting story. So far, I'd say it's the best in the Agon series

After beeing a bit(large bit) disappionted :-/ with Culpa Innata (I've put it on hold), I have start to replay a couple of MAGICAL games. First I played Under a killing moon using Dosbox. After that I wanted to wait before replaying Pandoras Directive, savour the moment so to speak. I used Inferno's help page to get Ripper going using VDMS. Those were the day's... What memories that surface on my computer. Despite all technical progress since I played this beauty, it still can be played. My first ever adventure game, ok back then I did not even know that there was a thing called adv games. I purely bought the game on how the game box looked.
FOR THE MOMENT I AM PLAYING ON MY Win 7&&&&Recently Played&& ark Fall Lost Souls,Outcry,SH vs A Lupin,Tales of Monkey Island,Still Life 2,Sinking Island,Pandora Directive (RP),The Lost Crown

I'm now about 4 hours into Diamonds in the Rough. It's somewhat retro in look and feel but I really like it so far. I'm glad I kept an eye on the JA Store because I got one of the few copies they had for sale.

I'm about half way through Keepsake although I am finding it a bit too dull for my tastes - mostly because I'm not a big fan of the large amounts of navigating required. ND: Danger by Design is sitting on the hard-drive waiting to be started. I'm playing that one with a friend so it's just a matter of getting our schedules set.

As for Culpa Innata, I expected more. It did not call me back to the computer like other games. I actually spent a few months playing it. Too much time trying to solve a murder with nothing else really going on. Oh, if only there had been a romance like in Tex Murphy and Gabriel Knight
Now I'm gonna sound like Susan( ), but I really had fun with Danger by Design-so many fun puzzles. Another interesting thing was that I had to decipher a message with the German decoder in the game. Then a few days later, quite by chance I watched a movie called Enigma about the same German decoder, and my thoughts went back to that game. Clever puzzles indeed.
At the moment I'm playing Next Life-the premise is interesting, but I'm getting tired of doing the same things over and over and backtracking again and again. I also had to get saved games for the manic timed puzzles. The dream sequences are fun though, and I'll stick with it to the end.

I am also diddling a bit with Kyrandia 3 now that daily builds of ScummVM can run it fairly well, but I've never much liked the game despite absolutely adoring the rest of the series, so who knows if I'll ever actually play it through once in my lifetime.
I'm finding myself pleasantly surprised by Legacy of Time. I managed to snag the DVD edition recently (which apparently works far better in Windows XP than the CD edition), and the graphic quality is quite impressive, especially for 1997. Thus far it's mostly been a matter of picking the right guise to get people to part with information as well as solving the occasional simplistic "puzzle", but I expect it will pick up at some point. In any case Arthur's incessant quips are fun enough all by themselves. Shame on anyone who doesn't find him at least snicker-worthy.

In spite of a couple of horribly difficult puzzles I enjoyed it tremendously. It was also the first time I played together with another adventure gamer (Colpet) It was so much fun communicating about the story and the puzzles. Where did you find your copy of Black Dahlia, Jelena? Amazon? E-bay? I've been looking for a copy, but all my google comes up with are movies about Black Dahlia??! :-?
Anyway, been buying online, and got a few prizes at my used goods stores; so, are currently giving Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion a go, along with American Mc Gee's Alice, along with Beyond Atlantis 2, plus I still need to finish Egyptian Prophesy(Egypt 3) which got railroaded by AC: And then there were None, which I've just finished, and liked, exept for some game design bloops which I've discussed in another thread.

There are copies available right now on ebay stores. (Just narrow your search by choosing video games in the list of categories). There are a bunch for $19.99 which is about what I payed for a copy in mint condition.
I have to say it again. It's one of the best games I've ever played. The story is intriguing and totally absorbed me. I'm sure you'll enjoy it too Traveller. Good hunting!

I'm a bit nervous of losing stuff if I move over to Firefox, but I've been planning to, so now may be as good a time as any...

Two puzzles already have had me running around trying to adjust or activate machinery while a timer runs. Neither was difficult. But I'm starting to think the designers, realizing they had some average puzzles, tossed in a time limit to pad out gameplay. >
Yeesha is even more off-putting here than she was in Uru. Her associate Escher isn't much better. I'm not thrilled about another Bahro centered story either.
OK, guess I'd better say something good about the game. : The graphics are a lot better than I expected. And the slate concept is interersting, if a little tricky to get to work at times.
Well, hopefully my early negative impressions turn out to be wrong, as there's still the bulk of the game left to play. I hope things get better in the second Age.

IMHO Myst V is the weakest in the entire series. Still, it's the ending of one of the best adventure series ever and it definitely needs to be played of you're a Myst-fan.

Yes, thanks, guys. Luckily I have a sister and brother-in-law living in the US, so if I get desperate in finding a game, I have it sent to one of them. I don't like doing it too often, though, as I don't want them to feel I'm taking advantage. Anyway, I've currently got a huge 'to be played' pile sitting in my cupboard. So I don't mind if Black Dahlia sits on my "still searching" list, along with GK2, and Planescape:Torment, a little bit longer.

I must disagree here: Myst V is indeed the worst in the series, but if you're a fanatical Myst fan you're probably better off -not- playing it. Personally I'm glad I did because it was easy and after trudging through Riven and Schizm until I was blue in the face I needed a little easy, but all it had going for it was its (admittedly very good) soundtrack and pretty graphics. The story is weak at best, and I found that there was one crucial thing missing: a personal stake for the player.
In Myst you touch the linking panel to the island, and your primary motivation, in character, is to escape. With Riven a way home is still the overarching motivation, but more immediately you want to help a man in trouble who only wants to save his wife. In Exile you're helping a friend by retreaving his life's work. In Revelations you're searching for your friend's daughter, whom you failed to protect. In each game there is a motivation for exploring the Ages and finding your way around.
In Myst V, however, there is no personal motivation for the player; there's nothing to gain. We don't know how you get to K'veer, but since you find yourself on the surface minutes after you start surely escape is not your motivation. Given the timeframe it's unlikely that you already know Yeesha, and there's no evidence that you've followed the path of the shell to get to K'veer. So why get the tablet? Because some loonie old broad bearing a striking similarity to Yoda told you to? Lame.
If I didn't still have more trudging through Riven to do I'd be extremely disappointed.

Regarding Gabriel Knight 2: Would you care for a donated bare-bones copy? All I have left is the discs themselves; the jewel case broke sometimes in 1995 mere weeks after I got the game. I think I still have the manual and the jewel-case inserts somewhere, but I'd have to look. I don't think I'll ever play it again, so I wouldn't mind parting with it.

I've also got Overclocked waiting in the wings. I've only played an hour or so of that game but it looks like it could be fun too.

To me, living in a climate where warm weather isn't to take for granted I spend my time outdoors when the weather is warm and sunny. It's like I need to catch every ray of sun because I can never be sure there will be more of it. I wonder what it's like to live in a country where there's plenty of nice, warm and sunny weather. Ah well that's a topic for another thread I guess.

The first time I played it, I had a difficult time with this puzzle since I'm tone deaf. I finally used my video recorder to tape the sounds and played back each one over and over again until I got it right. Then I saved game. The second time I played it, I had the saved game for a bypass .
I'm playing Rhem 2 after having some computer issues. My video card fried and I needed a new one. As usual, it's never that simple. The new card required more wattage than I had, so had to upgrade my power source too. Then, I couldn't get Rhem 2 to work. Thanks to Jenny100, I finally got the game to play and spent most of last night in Rhem heaven.
