Status : Offline | I've just started playing Art of Murder 2: Hunt for Puppeteer. Although I'd found the first AOM, rather... bland?, I was not put off enough not to try the second one. Maybe it's just that every once in a while, I like easy-ish games where I don't have to consult a walkthrough just to keep moving..

| Deleted User | Hi there, Sheherazade, - I really like your name! Do you enjoy stories a lot? Nice to see you on the forums - keep posting and let us know what you thought of Hunt for the Puppeteer! Personally I enjoyed it more than the first one, but I found that many of the settings between the two games were rather too similar to my taste. I would have liked some new different settings and countries for the second one.
I have yet to play the third one, and not sure if I'm all that interested. I would like to try Scorpio Ritual and it's sequel, though.

I agree Halcyon and I'm actually enjoying 'The Lost Crown' quite a bit. The atmosphere is really sucking me in. The gfx and sfx are superb. I'm only starting day two and from the user comments I've read, things should really start to take off. I'm really looking forward to playing some more tonight. Friday nights are usually my only gaming night. Happy Gaming.
I'm into the last day and still enjoying this game immensely. Only a few minor (and I mean minor) annoyances that have already been nitpicked to death. This is by far the best adventure game I've played in quite some time. Add to the latter that I have not needed to look at any hints/walkthrough or take notes. I've only been stuck briefly a couple times. I guess I'm just in tune with Mr. Boakes. Happy Gaming!

Pirates of the Carribean: Sea Dogs 2 Bethesda
http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?autocom=downloads&showcat=6
All four have to be patched to play fully and well on PC XP, but all WILL and are all wonderful and remarkable worlds. Anachronox and Omikiron were two amazing games made in the golden Age of PC pre Next Gen graphics super hyped games, and show the artistry and true Craft of their design and creation. Anachronox took three and a half years to make, and had a sequel planned that did not happen, there are now hopes with the development tools that have been released by Ion to work on such a sequel with some of the former staff and development team. For now, we CAN play it all the way thru now successfully with the full patch set of five patches.
I have created Patch kits for all of these games and will post the links shortly.
Pirates of the Carribean btw, was issued quickly and with no manual and quite a few bugs, which was unusual for Bethesda but what happened was that Disney bought the game and all the rights to the name for their movie series so things were hurried. Since then, a determined and dedicated community team has created a much upgraded and improved version of the game and the patches will be availble thru my archive as well.
Vamipre the Masquerade Bloodlines has also been much improved and completed by another very dedicated team of fans, and players, and now we are up to Community Patch 6.8 which restores a lot of lost content to the game and fixes a lot of bugs.
Some of these older games truly show what can be achieved in 3D world making and also in great game design and story spinning. The developers had to realy work and be creative to achieve effects and ambience and in all of these four great titles, they all succeeded greatly.

A disinterested advice: Don't play Scorpio Ritual. It's the absolute nothing!

Ok, but maybe I should try it's sequel at least. It got some good reviews from the other gamers here. Sadly my gaming time is very limited at present. Will catch up later in the year.
SharonB, did you enjoy Casebook? Would you class it as a proper AG? I like detective games, but haven't tried this series yet.

There is a lot of photo taking (very like looking for hidden objects) and then playing mini games such as taking swabs and analysing, taking finger prints and matching dna, etc. This particular game had a lot of hints in it to get you used to playing these games and how they operate.
I have a feeling Casebook 1 is going to be a lot more difficult and there will be more interviews and it will probably feel more adventure gamish.
But I will say I enjoyed Case 0 and appreciated the hints on how to play.

[smiley=hair_pull.gif] Apparently I have to re-play quite a bit in order to "proceed the correct way" in order to be able to Spoiler Alertkill the killer
Very, very annoying.
And it took me forever to realize it was impossible to go on and that I had to resort to a W/T to understand why.

It's one thing to have choices near the end of the game that could affect the ending but quite another to have no recourse if you don't do something [ch8532] of the way through it.
I just finished Peter Hewitt's Magnetic Revisited, and it's a lovely puzzler. He has redesigned many of the puzzles and games, added new ones, and made it compatible for both Windows and Macs. The island photos are beautiful, and it was fun to discover the hidden locations of the puzzles.
I finally started the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island. Telltale put up the Mac version several weeks ago, but most people were getting crashes on startup. The fix is in now, and I was able to get into the game with no trouble after the second download. This is the first MI game I've played, and I'm having fun with it.

Frustrating indeed! I replayed the entire section but still had a lot of trouble. Spoiler AlertI knew I had to scroll down the list on my phone in order to call the killer, but the darn 'scrolling thingy' wouldn't work. It was almost impossible to move it, but since I knew that was the way to do it from reading the w/t I kept trying and finally managed.
I do hope the rest of the game will keep me as happy as I was before the bug. All and all I enjoy it.

Yes, I love a wide variety of literature. Anyway, I'm relatively new to the adventure genre; I was introduced to it by a good old friend of mine who is also a member here, JKing. (I'm an old WOW addict) He got me interested in the Myst games, and then we played Syberia and Amerzone together, and now I'm trying out different types of games in the genre.
The latest thing JKing has convinced me to try, is Uru Online. It's nice to have someone around who broadens your horizons like that. [smiley=happy.gif]

I'm glad to see you're posting now instead of just lurking, anyway. Seems I missed your earlier message, though; you should have told me you posted.

Old?...- hmmm, I guess you're not that old really.. but you know how shy I am... :-* , which is why I lurked so long before getting my feet wet - I promise I'll try and be brave and post a bit more... :-[
I did look at the Uru threads, and I must admit it looks like fun to do it in a group, possibly even if you're a shy person? : I just tell myself if I could do WOW, I can do this too. The bit you got me started on seemed very interesting, so it will be nice when I catch up.

In any case, I suspect that JKing and the rest of the gang is ahead of me in any case, since I've been very busy and distracted lately, so you are welcome to play with me a bit sometimes as well, if you want. ( I like shy people, because even though I'm a chatterbox, I also sometimes feel a bit "out" in a crowd... )
In any case, my KI no. is.. er.. hmm, I'll have to look for it. Will post it sometime in the Uru thread.

Thank you Traveller. Of course you are welcome to play with us. JKing plays a lot with other people besides me, anyway, (often because I don't have the time), and you are a friend, after all!
