Currently playing Dark Fall: Lost Souls. I liked The Lost Crown so I thought I'd give this a try. I don't know but I doubt I'll finish it. I just can't get into 1st person games (even though I didn't mind the short 1st person parts in TLC). I'll keep trying, maybe it'll grow on me  :-/.  But when the next 3rd person AG is released, Lost Souls will probably go on the shelf (with the other unfinished 1st person AGs I have) and gather dust.

I'm not criticising here, just interested as to why you find Ist person perspective so different to 3rd person? To me, its all the same, what matters is the story and the gameplay and whether you point an on-screen character towards a location or just move a first person camera around doesn't make any difference...

I wish I knew. In some 1st person games the problem was vertigo. But that's not at all a problem with Lost Souls.  In some 1st person games I'm always getting lost and bumping into walls (sometimes in real life too
). Again, not the case in Lost Souls. So I don't know  :-?.

Maybe its because the first graphic AGs I played (in the early '80's) were all 3rd person games and I'm too set in my ways to change (too old to change? Oh God, I'm turning into my father [smiley=scared.gif]). I'm really trying to like this game so I'll keep plodding away.

I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike

I really should just pick one and finish that first, otherwise this is going to be another one of those I-didn't-get-to-finish-a-single-game years.

I hear Darkness Within is good, I need to play it soon. Jack Keane, Runaway 1 and Perry Rhodan are worth playing too. Stay away from the borefest Still Life 2 (play SL1, if you haven't). But first, THE LOST CROWN! 8-)

/me "accidentally"  steps on Aya's little toe with a very high, sharp heel.

Oops! Sorry, Aya, was that your toe?  Well...- sorry about that, but although SL2 might be buggy and have a crappy inventory system, it is not boring!

Ouch! I'll remember not to walk around here barefooted.

Darkness Within is nice so far, but it seems very linear (one challenge/puzzle at a time) in this early stage. Hope it opens up a bit more later on. Still Life 2 starts out very interesting storywise, but I already hit a dead end after playing for just ten minutes, thoug I think it's actually a bug: Spoiler AlertIn the first scene after being kidnapped, I picked up the mattress before I had to use it, and now I can't put it down anymore (not on the bed where I took it from, nor in the closet where there's abundant space following the game's logic). Since it takes up all the inventory space, I can't pick anything else that I need to use to progress in the game.  :

I have already played and finished Still Life 1. I liked bits of it, but hated others (curse the developers for those cookie and robot puzzles, and for giving us that 'ending').

Now I hear something about a game, something about someone having lost some fancy head wear accessory.
Maybe I should just stop going back and forth between games and start TLC, after all it does come Ayapproved.  8-)

That does sound like a deadend bug, since the bedroom closet should work (assuming that you are doing it right, since you don't use the item on the closet, but rather open the closet). So that would take the known deadend bug count to 3...

Ayapproved! I like that. I think I'll make a stamp for it! 8-)

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Double checked just to make sure (to not have made a complete fool of myself here
), and it definitely looks like a dead end. Spoiler Alert Opened the closet, inventory appears, clicked on the mattress, move it over the closet inventory, an appropriate area turns green (as in, yes we game developers have designed a game logic where entire mattresses should fit easily within closets), then left click, click, clicker-click-clicking; nothing happens and the only thing left to do is right click and the mattress safely returns to your own inventory, taking up all the space again.  :

I foresee it becoming the new 'Two Thumbs Up'.

Mmmm, at some stage I think I'll have to get these Dark Fall games as I am hearing so much about them.

I have to take a rest from Riddle of the Sphinx as I had spent three evenings getting nowhere. So I thought I'd play a more straightforward title in the shape of Mata Hari. What stunningly beautiful locations and graphics! It is one of the most visually appealing games I have played. The puzzles are straightforward so far (I'm on mission 4) and it's quite entertaining. Definitely, it's exactly what's needed after stumbling around in ROTS.

I started Myst V today. It's been about 4 years since I played Revelation. Thank goodness for Wiki ; I needed to review the story, especially after the intro.
Spoiler AlertWhen did Catherine die?
Anyhow, so far so good. I've been playing mostly small budget Adventures these last 2 years, so the graphics and detail are mind-boggling. I'm using the same controls as I did in Uru - mouse 3D - so I can make the most of the 1st person perspective.
Well, back to the hole

Oh good.  It perpetually astonished me that you were resisting playing Myst V Colpet.   I enjoyed the passing of time and would stand on the beach watching the stars.

I'm playing (euphemism) Uru Path of the Shell at the moment.  I'm stalled.  I'd appreciate any help.

I'm in Er'cana with the water treatment plant.  I'm trying to open a hatch but there is no power to that equipment.  I'm standing in the soviet style control room and there simply is no other button or lever to find.  I'm well and truly stuck.  Even the walkthrough simply says all the bits with power are drawn in blue - but mine aren't.   Wouldn't ya know it?  [smiley=hair_pull.gif]

Wish I could help, but I played so long ago. I even checked my notes, and all I have is a printed WT - guess that means I was too stuck to work it out on my own. Sorry, but at least now I know I'm in good comapny

I have scoured several w/t and they all simply say to turn off the coloured circles (yellow) and then go outside and climb down the ladder - only the damn hatches won't open.

I've read all the guff about glitches and this one isn't mentioned so I don't think a patch would fix it but you know what else?  I've got two pages in my Relto book that haven't put what they promised onto my island.

I think the whole game's stuffed.  And I'm [s]pissed off[/s] annoyed about that.   This was a Complete Chronicles disk so now I'm wondering if I hunt out my original will it work?

I can't believe I'm putting so much time and effort into this game.  Where's ChrisGer when you want him?  Isn't he our resident 'all-things-Myst expert?'

What's this? Sir Dave has been demoted/dethroned?  When did this happen?  I knew all was not right with the world, but this might just be the biggest shock of them all.

What am I NOT playing lol...

Still Life 2... I've been put off by the negative reviews, so playing this veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slowly....

Memento Mori... Seems to have probs with Windows 7 and dual-core processors, so having to use the LOW graphics, which is rather annoying, and for this reason I haven't really even started yet.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack The Ripper.... The same as Memento Mori.

Syberia I (and two, after finishing syberia I).... Playing this the most.

Sinking Island... Again, got put off by the negative reviews. Looks nice though.

This game is best enjoyed in one go, so you can get into the atmoshere of things.  I played it obsessively for 3 or 4 days, and when I finished, I actually felt withdrawal symptoms.

Quite a nice game, but probably also best to play in one go.  I didn't find it as atmospheric as SL2 though.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack The Ripper.... The same as Memento Mori.

Cool game. One that actually makes you think about different aspects of the historical Jack the Ripper scenario. Pity to hear about the problems.

Syberia I (and two, after finishing syberia I).... Playing this the most.
 Another 2 cool games.

Sinking Island... Again, got put off by the negative reviews. Looks nice though.

Ugh, this one is still "in-progress" with me as I got soooo tired of all the tedious repeated dialogs...
Please let us know what you think if you actually finish this one.  :-X

@ILoveYou

There are negative reviews but the game received rave notices also. Focus on it and you'll see it's a little diamond ready to shine!

Hey
Yeah, I just need to make my damn mind about which game I'm going to play... I'm torn between them all and I think the longest amount of time I've spent playing so far would be Still Life 2. And Syberias I've played sooooo many times before but I was in the mood so I got them and started. I might just go ahead and continue with Still Life 2.

Thanks a bunch for the comments, very helpful!

Just finished the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island. Pretty good. Navigating was annoying (apparently you can double-click to run, but only if you click on an object and not a direction).
There were a few too many forest mazes, which were fun but would be completely unfair to anyone with hearing problems.
I enjoyed the puzzles, though a couple of times I solved them through trial and error. Other times the hints were too obvious.
The joked were pretty good - I even laughed a few times!

The overall plot is weird and so far a bit too much like the 4th game for my liking. But at least there are still many chapters to play.

Finished Outcry although I cheated on the sound-riddle. I watched the solution on youtube. Really difficult.

Don't know what to play next.

So have you decided not to try out Diabolique: Original Sin?   ..or any of the Last Half of Darkness games?

Finished Coraline recently and despite my plans to pick up The Lost Crown, Barrow Hill or Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Mummy where I left off, I decided otherwise and started to play Sanitarium. Argh. I'm only in chapter 2 and already think this game is really... well, not creepy but... disturbing.

One of the BEST adventures ever made. I'll tell you this: When I was playing it, at the scene of Spoiler Alertthe disabled children I had fever. Really.

Finished chapters 2 and 3 of TOMI.
Chapter 2 was kind of tedious, but had plenty of funny moments.
Chapter 3 was better paced and had some excellent puzzles.
