Much more challenging than the first one - with good characterization too. CI have improved a 100% with this game and it's good to see.
The graphics are amazing - pure eye candy too.

The control system is one of the worst I've used (though I did learn to at least tolerate it), and most of the acting is very, very bad, even for an FMV game, and that's saying something.
And yet I have to say I had fun playing it. The game, even with its various faults, had a certain charm. Tex Murphy, with his wry outlook on everything, makes for an appealing underdog hero even as he bumbles his way through the game.
So that's three Tex Murphy games down and two to go. I look forward to seeing how the last two games compare to this one.

I really should just pick one and finish that first, otherwise this is going to be another one of those I-didn't-get-to-finish-a-single-game years.

Currently playing Dark Fall: Lost Souls. I liked The Lost Crown so I thought I'd give this a try. I don't know but I doubt I'll finish it. I just can't get into 1st person games (even though I didn't mind the short 1st person parts in TLC). I'll keep trying, maybe it'll grow on me :-/. But when the next 3rd person AG is released, Lost Souls will probably go on the shelf (with the other unfinished 1st person AGs I have) and gather dust.
I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike

I hear Darkness Within is good, I need to play it soon. Jack Keane, Runaway 1 and Perry Rhodan are worth playing too. Stay away from the borefest Still Life 2 (play SL1, if you haven't). But first, THE LOST CROWN! 8-)

Speaking of GOG, I've been bitching about paying to dload since forever, but if somebody did it right it's GOG. 1. REASONABLE PRICES. Are you paying attention thieves at The Adventure Shop? Everything between $5.99-9.99, plus great deals every now and then. Ok, it's not new games, but there's a "considerable" difference between $5.99 and 50eur for a dload.... : 2. DRM-FREE/UNLIMITED INSTALLATIONS. Nuff said 3. UNLIMITED DLOADS. This isn't such a big deal, since you can always dload once and burn, but it shows respect for the customer.
All that for games that can only be found used (at exhuberant prices sometimes) or dloaded as abandonware or... erm... "near-abandonware". AND, the games come as single files, fully installables and XP/Vista/7 compatible (they don't say 7, but I presume)
Everyone should check them out 8-)

/me "accidentally" steps on Aya's little toe with a very high, sharp heel.
Oops! Sorry, Aya, was that your toe? Well...- sorry about that, but although SL2 might be buggy and have a crappy inventory system, it is not boring!

I'll be looking forward to the second installment. I'm currently playing Echoes of the Past Royal House of Stone, another IHOG in the tradition of Return to Ravenhurst. I'm about to play James Patterson's Womens Murder Club Twice in a Blue Moon (a $2.99 deal). I enjoyed the first one.

Is Perry Rhodan really good? I started it a while back and got a bit bored with it. It seemed really slow.

Oops! Sorry, Aya, was that your toe? Well...- sorry about that, but although SL2 might be buggy and have a crappy inventory system, it is not boring! I think I talked about SL2 somewhere else, but no matter! Ok, we established buggy (awfully buggy, with at least 2 dead-end bugs). The inventory system was atrocious, not just crappy. If you wanna do limited inventory, fine by me. But not by making me run around to find cupboards, like I couldn't just put the metal detector down on the floor. That ALONE made the game insanely boring and frustrating. Heroine? Probably one of the most over-the-top ones I've seen in a game. Wow, what an independent, tough gal she was... : Give me a break. There are ways to portray a heroine as independent and tough, but SL2 strayed far from them. Should I even mention the timed sequences all over the place? Or maybe the crappy metal detector puzzle that was only there to prolong the game? And usually bad games like that have gorgeous gfx to make up for it (see City Interactive). This one failed at that area as well.
(guess it's obvious I didn't like the game one bit... )

Status : Offline | Im playing Runaway 3 as well as Chronicles of Mystery: Tree of Life.
I must say that although I have played little to nothing, the latter dissapointed me a lot. One of the things I liked most about the first Chronicles of Mystery was its settings, especially in Malta, which were beyond stunning. Yet in this game, it appears everything was rushed to a early release, as you can see the graphics are nowhere as good as the first one. Sophie appears to slide instead of walking in many scenes. The voice-overs are not that good. In the first scene of the game Sophie talks to a man whose voice has probably to be one of the worse I have ever seen in a game (yes, even worse than in Secret Files). As to the story, I dont know yet as Im still early on in the game. But im not expecting much. AOM and Chronicles of Mystery have never been known by its great and original story anyway...
Playing: Skyrim (ongoing)
Last Finished: can't recall, been too long.

I'm not criticising here, just interested as to why you find Ist person perspective so different to 3rd person? To me, its all the same, what matters is the story and the gameplay and whether you point an on-screen character towards a location or just move a first person camera around doesn't make any difference...
