Status : Online | Currently playing "The Neverhood". I'm very frustrated with the amount of walking you have to do. Half the time I don't know what I missed and I find myself going to a walkthrough only to learn I have to go through a very long process again because I clicked the wrong button. So annoying!
I'm actually liking the puzzles that don't require note-taking. The ones that do require that, are not even puzzles - just copy this infromation and use it 'here'.
I so like the atmosphere. It reminds me of those bizarre cartoons they used to make in the 80's - nothing but strange chracters and places, with little explanation as to why or what.

Status : Offline | I finished Secret Files: Tunguska yesterday. Hm, wasn't crazy about the ending, and the final part started to drag a bit. Still, I kind of liked the game in general. At least it kept me going, and refreshed my interest in adventure games again. 8-) Now it's back to The Longest Journey replay. I left April somewhere stuck in chapter 2, so still a lot of journey to go. I also purchased Return to Mysterious Island on ebay last night. So as soon as that one arrives, that'll be up next. Hope it'll be as good as Kheops' Voyage which I loved big time!

Interesting... the exact opposite of my own experience. I felt instantly at home in the Neverhood world. Maybe it's my Christian upbringing. : Yeah, there's a fair bit of walking around, but I don't know what you mean by "just copy this information and use it here".

I'm currently stuck on a puzzle where you have to copy down 12 characters, remember which character made a noise, and then input them somewhere many screens away. Same with getting the right radio station (thank heavens you can use trial and error!) the three coloured tubes, the memory puzzle (that one was aweful - one mistake and you have to start over!) and more. It feels like such a waste, too. If the puzzles were self contained like those at the start it would've been so much more fun - not writing down everything in the hopes it will make sense some time in the future.

You wouldn't want to play any of the Rhem games, Shany, if you don't like gathering clues for later puzzles. I've been playing Rhem 3 for about 21 hours now, and I still have lots of inventory items and notations I haven't used yet. I love those "a-ha" moments when I realize the purpose of something that has been staring me in the face for half the game.

| Deleted User | Finished Sanitarium a few days ago after a little break.. I took a break after getting frustrated with the hive level -imo by far worst part of the game. The rest was a breeze though. The goo puzzle isn't so bad once you figured out the pattern... thank heavens it's not a random pattern!
During the 'break' fiddled with Morrowind and some RTS - RONRise of Legends, which has a great campaign, imo. Installed Riven and just walked around a bit, also Post Mortem, which will probably go quickly.
Oh, also checked out Lost - shucks, everbody was right - it is one of those typical movie/TV series tie-ins for non-gamers. The "puzzles" are solvable by 2-year-olds. (Well as far as I got into it, which wasn't very far, as it didn't really 'draw me in'.)

Do yourself a favour and play Keepsake to the end - it's worth discovering the little story behind it all, and although some of the puzzles seem a little illogical, theyr'e mostly fun, and if you really can't see the logic, there's a great progressive hint system.
Btw, I also put Atlantis Evolution on my "to be played" pile after playing about 10 - 15 mins., as it didn't seem very immersive. I am planning to give it another try though.......sometime......

Status : Online | Started to play Lost: Via Domus yesterday. So far, I hate it. It's not running smoothly on my computer despite my pc matching the system requirements and despite me lowering the details and disabling textures. There's no voice-over for the main character in dialogues where you can choose sentences to say; there are no sound effects. I have to hit the keys several times before the game carries out my commands; swapping items, for example, takes forever because the reaction is so awfully slow. Same with dialogues. I'd really love to stop playing this game, stack it away and never touch it again. Unfortunatley, I signed up for writing a review about it so I'm stuck with it. Fortunately, it seems to be pretty short and maybe it gets better... and it does have its good sides as well. They're just not overwhelming enough to keep me motivated *sighs*

Keepsake is another game that is better than the reviews say, except that when you get to the second level there is an insane amount of teleporting from one end of the game world to the other to keep the plot moving - you MUST make notes about which pads take you to which locations or you'll be wandering around forever (see my reference to the solarium puzzle in another thread), and you never have many items to use but it is worth persevering with I think.

Sadly, I've actually found both classic adventures "The Longest Journey" and "Gabriel Knight" with reviews that said the games were terrible and not worth playing. No adventure game is liked by everybody. Culpa Innata is an amazing game - a game that will stand the test of time well.

| Deleted User | Finished playing Post Mortem a while ago, and must say I wasn't as impressed as I was with Still Life. Not as immersive and too buggy to my tastes, but the ending made up for it all: both endings ("good" or " bad" were a lot more satisfying than that of Still Life, and not only did it allow for closure, but the final little twist made for a good giggle.
AG-wise, I'm now playing Egypt 3 aka The Egyptian Prophesy: The fate of Ramses; and I'm actually enjoying it. I'm not normally a graphics wh0re, but in this case, I can't help drooling at all the amazing textures. The puzzles so far seem pretty decent (with the exception of a frustrating start) and not too difficult (maybe because they make sense so far, but I'm not finished yet).
I cannot make out what all the fuss about the heroine's bust is about; they are thinnish-flat and pointy, not very attractive, and only draw attention because they are scantily clad. Yet I have read remarks about them in reviews, describing her as 'voluptuous' and 'buxom'?? *cough* *splutter* [smiley=rofl.gif] . Well, if they were any smaller, she'd look like a boy, for Pete's sake! These reviewers obviously confine themselves to AG's only.
I also got my Assassin's Creed yesterday, and although not officially classed as an RPG, it certainly seems to have a lot of RPG features. Well, early days, I think it's going to take me a while to get 'into' it.
Traveler over and out. (*Woffles off to go and figure out all the Assassin's moves*)

Also playing Dream Chronicles 2 (casual game) - don't know why I'm playing it since I didn't like the first one, and the second looks like a more tedious version of it... :

I am damned if I know how to get enough people in my park within the specified times. I've had Terry Penrod writing advertising copy for it every blessed day for weeks.... still keep failing.
I also started Pandora's Box after reading Colpet was doing it the other day. And I am supposed to be doing Alida but I'm stuck and the fairground music calls to me......

Maybe there's ^ ^ ^ your problem . I've heard that Terry is good at sailing, though.
Btw, I ordered my kids Mall Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon Complete Bundle over the 'net today. (Got any of those, C?) Wonder who's going to end up playing most of what. My kids shun their Playstation2 for some reason, and only want to play PC. Son insisted on playing Jade Empire, and mom's ending up playing most of the game for him. (No wonder Altiar can't get any assassinations done. He's spending much too much time in the Jade Empire) >

It looks like a game to my liking, but I have a feeling I'm going to be hard to please after recently having played Black Dahlia: One of the most intriguing stories I've seen so far. In spite of a couple of horribly difficult puzzles I enjoyed it tremendously. It was also the first time I played together with another adventure gamer (Colpet) It was so much fun communicating about the story and the puzzles.

I loved Amber, bit on the short side but great atmosphere. Couldn't get it to play in a Win Xp Sp2 machine, are you using Virtual Machine or something similar?
Just started the Lost Crown, seems intriguing so far. Also have Paradise and The Moment of Silence installed and awaiting their turn, plus I'll have Diamonds in the Rough sometime next week.
