| Deleted User | I recently finished the second Monkey Island chapter, The Siege of Spinner Cay, and my opinion is that it was slightly better than the first since it wasn’t quite as linear and I didn’t mind the absence of a sound puzzle. With everything squared away for now, well until the very last cut scene…. I’m eagerly anticipating chapter three.
I really hadn’t planned on purchasing the boxed version of Still Life 2, (the initial general consensus that it wasn't a great sequel) but with all the ruckus in discussions and reviews posted to date I finally caved and reluctantly handed over the 19.99 price of admission to see just what it’s all about. : So far I’ve only played through the prologue though it appears that I will have to move the game from my laptop which doesn’t quite meet the minimum system requirements to the old PC since Victoria’s character seems to move like she’s in an anti-gravity chamber.

I'm thinking of restarting it too. One of the greatest games I've ever played.
I'm playing Everlight-Elves into Power. Great story.

Status : Offline | I'm on holiday this Friday - we're driving to Myrtle Beach. I didn't want to get into a longish adventure, so I went a little crazy this past long weekend with casual games. I played: James Patterson Death in Scarlet Alabama Smith Escape from Pompei Treasure Seekers Enchanted Canvass Things I like about casual games - quick, cheap, I enjoy the variety and the HOG part Things I don't like - puzzles that are almost always too easy, some games repeat the same type of puzzles, the hand holding tutorials and hints ( am surprised they actually have WTs for some of them) This makes 18 casual games I've played this year. By far and away the best and least easy was Return to Ravenhurst, with the first Azada a close second.

I really liked The Dig - the graphics were bright and interesting (given it's age) and the puzzles vere more than the usual 3rd person inventory types. I liked the mechanical aspects of some of the puzzles too.

Now I'm moving on to replay Dark Fall 2, but I've been somewhat distracted by Guild Wars the last few days.

| Deleted User | This is a great game LisaAnn. The fact that it is a keyboard controlled game doesn't win a lot of points with me, but still I ultimately got used to it early on.
Here's a link (perhaps one of many) that might help you to play Grim Fandango on Vista.

Ah - glad to see that you seem to have gotten Obsidian to work now, Caroline! Yay! Way to go! [smiley=rockin.gif]
So what happened with The Awakened, LisaAnn? I really loved that game.
As for myself, Puritas Cordis STILL has not appeared on the shelves in our local stores, > so I've now had to resort to trying to get hold of it online. I'm hoping to have it by the weekend, but will probably start on it whenever it arrives.
Been toying with trying something more light and casual, or otherwise just carrying on with the RPG scene.
I have Outcry, Nibiru, Scorpio Ritual and Nikopol waiting on my shelf, but I had not finished Dark Fall - suppose I should get on with that. :-/ Yeah, I think I've got a bit of burnout regarding "darker" games. :-/ *mope*

Too much of one thing can weary the "palate", I think, so a break may be sometimes a good idea. ^_^
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sorry.

I simply adored it the first time around many moons ago. Thanks for the link Camaroboy, I have Vista 64 bit and those should solve the problem, you're a doll! I do feel the need to revisit the land of the dead.

A beautiful fairy-tail takes place far away from us making me feel happier that I found a shelter at Mr Teeth's shop when it rained!

| Deleted User | You are really whetting my appetite for Everlight Taurnil!
But for now, I have managed to get hold of a copy of Puritas Cordis, and have come as far as watching the intro. What immediately struck me, was a feeling of "high production values" as compared to many of the games I had been playing recently. It just seemed so professionally done - the music, the sound, the cinematics ...the ..the how to put it? Atmosphere? All this gave quite a 'slick' and 'polished' impression. Now, I know these are not what makes a game intrinsicially good, but surface polish does go quite a way towards "selling" a game to the user at the startout.

Traveller I thought Puritas was much better than the 1st installment. Once you manage to get off the ship that is! It's a good game, let down by a terrible script (just like its predecessor IMO).
Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Dishonored, The Witcher, Fallout 3, Deponia

I just Finished "Still Life 2" a few hours ago. I ran into few bugs where Vic slowed down a little and that was about it.
The game was fun - lots of puzzles to solve - for $19.95 I'm happy. The last four PC games I've bought have been $19.95 and this one was the best of the four by far.
Good news about PC adventure games - lots of good ones released at $19.95.
Bad news is - not many truely stellar ones like "Longest Journey" coming out.
