| Deleted User | I managed to beat Art of Murder, and seeing as I am stuck in Last Express, I might also be continueing with Overclocked.
As I had basically pushed myself to finish Art of Murder over the course of (less than?) 3 days, I was pretty exhausted when I finally finished it, and now I regret it a little that I had pushed myself so, as it is now hard for me to form and objective opinion of the game, until I have had a chance to chew over it a little.
One thing I do know, is that I had found the voice-acting for Nicole almost more irritating as I had found that of J.Boakes for his character Nigel in The Lost Crown. Nicole never ceases to sound as if she is reading news tidbits from a piece of paper. Even directly after she had almost plunged to her death down a chasm, and only managed to save herself by grabbing hold of some vines, she narrates a paragraph (which, in my book, should have been a trembling exclamation), about herself landing in the obituaries that way, as if she is reading the state of the NASDAQ from the Sunday morning newspaper. :-/

So you finished Art Of Murder! I liked a lot this game especially the scene with the bridge. It gave you the impression that you were there. Nice graphics, e?
As for myself I'm thinking of playing Dead Space. (I have started playing FPS again. What a shame considering I'm an adventure gamer!)

Yes, I enjoyed the game. I like these "murder investigation" and "mystery story" games. I actually like reasonably fast-paced games like this one, where there is a reasonably tense story, and the puzzles aren't of a difficulty that they hold you back for days. Since I had only played one AG in the last 2 months, being Vampyre Story, I went on a bit of a binge these last 10 days.
Not only did I finish Art of murder, but also Overclocked and Amerzone, the latter which I had never played before. Being reminded thus of Benoit Sokal, I searched for my copy of Syberia 2, which I had also never done before, as another nice easy fast-paced game to rush through whilst I was on a roll, but sadly could not find the gamedisc.
While searching for Syberia 2, I found The Longest Journey, another one I had never done, and, shamed by this knowledge, I installed and started it. It started very nice, but I think, after playing for a while, that I now understand where comments about voluminous amounts of dialogue comes from. This is going to be l-o-o-ong game, I think. *sigh*
For a quick change of pace, I quickly checked out a friend's copy of CSI NY; and :'( :'( . Well, after having enjoyed the CSI lite AG's so much, I can only hope they will do more in the semi-AG format, and not in the casual game format.
I will not be forking out any cash for this erm.. piece of software, (CSI NY) and I actually cannot believe that there are people who do. I can find better subjects for kiddie's games than the type of subject CSI normally deals with.
I seem to be a bit burnt out now... [smiley=zombie.gif] perhaps a dose of RPG will perk me up again.
As for myself I'm thinking of playing Dead Space. (I have started playing FPS again. What a shame considering I'm an adventure gamer!)
One needs a bit of a change of pace, now and then. Well good luck Taurnil! Apparently Dead Space is ve-e-ery veeerr-ry scary!

Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Darkness Within 2, The Witcher, Fallout 3

Oh, Amerzone... I haven't succeeded in playing it because it refused to run on my previous pc. I have heard that it is really a great game; but I am glad that TLJ is in front of your nose. The most wonderful story ever told, believe me Trav, you will enjoy it and like it tremendously. Of course after that you must play Dreamfall as maum says and you won't regret it although Dreamfall is more an action-adventure!

Status : Offline | @Traveler: Too bad about the CSI: NY game! I never was very fond of the other CSI games, but I thought I might give this one a go as CSI: NY is my favourite of the three tv shows. :-/
As for what I actually am playing:
I've had some days off from work, so finally was able to do some adventuring again! 8-) I'm somewhere stuck in chapter 4 of Jack Keane, at the electrical fence. So far I'm liking this one! It's not too hard, has some entertaining dialog and fun puzzles.
I also got round to play some more of The Longest Journey. Well, replay actually. I once finished it in its Dutch translation. Though that translation was simply terrible, I still enjoyed the game, and now wanted to relive it all in the English translation. The story is one of the best ever and the universe incredibly imaginative. The dialogs are long yes, but the good voice acting here makes it ok. The only problem I have, something that I don't remember bothering me before, is that April is incredibly slow, even when she runs. I'm in chapter 8 now, (re)figuring out how to get the communication device on the island working again, and its one where you do a lot of running around, going back and forth. Not so much fun really, so I took a break from that for now.
I've also been toying around with Dosbox again. I wasn't very succesful before, but I keep hearing everybody raving about it. I never could get a game to run on it, or never got any sound, or my mouse didn't work, or multiple other problems. But I do still have plenty of older games lying around here, so it was worth another go. Don't know whether I struck gold this time, or they improved the latest version greatly, but I finally got some golden oldies running perfectly! I've been playing bits of Discworld 1 and Space Quest 6, and it's been heaps of fun. I'm a big, big Sierra fan, but the Space Quest games, except for the first one, always seem to have escaped my attention. I must say, I immediately felt that Sierra quality again! There's so much interactivity that seems to be missing from more recent adventure games. Every object on the screen is clickable and there are tons of funny descriptions that don't serve a purpose in the actual puzzle design, but are just there for your entertainment. Love it! I hope my streak of Dosbox luck continues, I might take a big nostalgic journey soon through some other classic Sierra games! 8-)

I am wishing I'd never played the Syberia games so I could fall under their spell again, especially the first one. Still, they are moving up the stack again.

In the beginning I was afraid they'll be "walk in the park easy" all the way, but it's better now that I'm close to have played half the game. And I have to say I absolutely love the graphics. And I'm not even into cartoony games to begin with.

Please inform me, please:
a. Is the game buggy?
b. I read that the controls of the keyboard-mouse are awkward. Is it true?
c. Does it worth the money? Tell me a bit more about the game. Is it easy and manageable? You can play it I mean without the anxiety of learning too much things during the game in order to complete it? Please tell me, I'm very qurious on this one!

a. No, not buggy at all. I've not had any crashes or issues whatsoever.
b. The controls are fine on PC. Similiar to any FPS. The only thing you would need to get used to is the sluggish mouse movement. It's not anywhere near as bad as some people make it out to be though.
c. Definitely worth the money especially now it's so cheap (£9.99 here in places).. This isnt a complex game, you wont need to learn much at all. It's just a FPS with very simplified RPG bits thrown in.. e.g. you can upgrade your weapons and armour and "stasis" module which allows you to slow down anything in its path..very useful in this game if you plan on surviving. You can only carry 4 weapons at once (7 in total I think) and it's worth just buying two of em and sticking with them. The first two weapons you get are actually the most powerful in the game when upgraded (plasma cutter and in particular the line gun which is insanely powerful). You can upgrade different aspects on the weapons such as reload time, width (line gun) capacity and damage. Damage is the one to go for first and width, the others can be ignored until after you have upgraded your stasis and suit which are more useful.
Throughout the game you find these items called nodes which are used to upgrade your weapons/suit (health and air)/stasis. You can also buy these in the shop. Also in every level (except the first) there is a locked door which can only be opened with a node. You dont have to open it but its well worth it..nodes are expensive but inside you almost always get cash/ammo/items that are worth at least the node value, often a lot more.
You will never get stuck either, a blue line thing that comes out from your suit will show you exactly where you need to go. It's a very linear game anyway. I played through on hard difficulty and it was just about right..challenging but not overly difficult. Unless you really suck at FPS I would say play on at least medium difficulty.
If that sounds complicated, trust me it aint.
