When you see posters saying it is one of the best AGs they've played in years it makes me realize that I wasn't the only one that felt that way. While some people didn't find the ending satisfying enough and dropped the game down a few notches because of it, I walked away from it with high hopes for the future of AGs. well, first of all you shouldn't be concerned whether others agree with your reviews or not! it's the same as being concerned if somebody agrees with your opinions
now i totally agree with you about the shortcomings, esp the inability to skip dialogs... in fact, i checked out the game a couple of months ago and dropped it when i saw this incredible oversight - an unacceptable mistake in this day and age... but after a couple of friends strongly recommending i give it a 2nd chance, i did and am very glad i did!
haven't finished it yet so i can't comment on the ending, but so far i'm loving it and am hopelessly hooked! it's safe to say that when it comes to horror atmosphere, storyline, intensity, boakes is the master! [smiley=bowdown.gif] i've said it before, that his adventure games rank in those areas as high as some of the best survival horror games! 8-) the bathroom scene in the beginning of night two i've reloaded and replayed 3-4 times! never done smth like that in an adventure game before...

in general, my planned upcoming advs are sam & max 2, perry rhodan, abbey and vampyre story... if they are flops too then i give up.....

Without a doubt the best adventure game I have played in a long time (Pips Culpa Innata for me)

Standard Horror Writer visits Haunted house plot in this the first game from Nucleosys. So you roam the house investigating the murder of the previous occupant and the source of the weird scratching noises that come in the night.
Is it related to the large ominous furnace in the basement or the creepy room full of African mementoes.
Pros
* Fantastically spookly atmosphere conjoured up by some decent graphics and great soundtrack.
* A couple of decent scares.
* Mostly inventory puzzles and observational triggers were decent enough, but some were just handed to you on the phone (Safe combination could have been a puzzle).
Cons
* Sometimes difficult to figure out what to do next meaning you were randomly looking in drawers etc. Or maybe I just missed most of the clues.
* Too many loose ends or ambiguities in the ending.
Overall an enjoyable game with an excellent atmosphere, but too many little things annoyed me for it to be truely great.
7/10

That's a good one sentence sum up of the game, and basically how I felt as well. In particular the bit with searching for candles put me off. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the game, but things like that kept it from being a top 20 game for me instead of a pretty good game.

Some pixel hunting (no short-cut key to find hot spots). Slow walking > but scene exits are quick with a double-click. I'm liking the game so far anyway.
I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike

I'm also playing Dracula Origin.

At this rate, I'll only have 50 games left on my to-be-played pile by Christmas 8-).
I'm torn between finally playing Paradise or replaying Post Mortem...
Edit: Avatar, did you ever manage to finish Qfg3 with a full score as a Paladin? I never did, though I tried many times .

It's pretty funny, and the plot is great. I'm getting a little annoyed at all the reused locations, even if some of them are changed. Maybe I'm just sick of Sam&Max's office. At least you don't go there in the last episode.

If I have I can't remember. A lot of points are given simply by greeting certain folks or talking about honour.
I've never really been big on trying to get max points in sierra games. I find a lot of missed points are obscure "look at this certain object" that I'll miss and lose 10 points at the end. I don't really lose sleep over it.

I'm currently playing "Art of Murder" - I've read several reviews of the game, the ones on Amazon are positive, the rest quite mixed.
One reviewer stated that it is a good game for the money and plays well.
I myself think it is not the very best I've played but for $19.95 it is OK.

Brilliant voice acting, great graphics, nice interface, music, sounds, and some comedy. It's a bit like playing moment of silence meets broken sword meets longest journey Very hard game to put down once you've started, so consequently I've been playing for hours at a time. Erm, like all day and right into the small hours. 8-) I think the second half of the game is easier than the first half, except for what is probably my final puzzle which seems a bit tricky so far. 9/10 also.

Status : Online | Just finished Sam&Max 205: What's New Beelzebub. It was the best and the longest of the series - almost twice as long as some season 1 episodes. Some puzzles were actually challenging and logical. And one of the hints was near-perfect. I loved the reference to 'Devil Went Down to Georgia', and there were plenty of funny jokes - though I mostly laughed at self referencial ones. There were alot of new character animations, that was a really big thing seeing as so few adventures do this. I was sad to find out that I had to go back to Sam&Max's office, but that sequence was really funny so it was alright.
I'm eager to play season 3, but that won't be for a while now.

Really? I just *cannot* find anything I like about it. I'm at the museum and I haven't played in weeks.

I finished Curse of Atlantis: Thorgal's Quest it was average at best.
Finished Runaway 2 and it was absolutely excellent.
now playing Keepsake and liking it, very charming graphics.
and
just started Salammbo it is very cool and weird.

I'm also playing through Spore, on the civ stage right now. Very....interesting game. Not as in depth as they once claimed, but still fun. Shame it relies a little too much on RTS though, as I've never been a huge fan.

| Deleted User | Hm. I've been very clever indeed! :-[ (or not) Seeing that I've got a spot of flu with fluid on the ears and sinusses, making me prone to motion-sickness, I found I couldn't handle much of Scratches before starting to feel nauseous, so I decided to shelve it for a day or so.
So I finally managed to get Dracula Resurrection up and running. Lovely. I really enjoy the atmosphere and immersion, only - the movement is similar to that of Scratches, and once again I feel the threat of green around the gills coming up...
Well - I never finished Simon 4, so I guess it back to that - that or Spore... :-/

Status : Offline | Agon: The Lost Sword of Toledo is my most recent adventure, and I did not have the best of starts. I had a long conversation with a character, then the game let me explore a room and I solved a minor puzzle. Not too bad, perhaps.
But then I had four or five long conversations in a row with different characters. I actually found myself starting to doze off toward the end, and had to replay the last conversation because I kept zoning out. Largest infodump I've seen in a long time, especially at the start of a game. Now that I seem to have gotten that out of the way, though, I hope the game actually lets me do something.
