This week will require a lot more thought than last week. It's a classic whodunit trivia game.

Above is a lineup of 40 murderers and victims taken from various adventure games.  You need to identify which ten murderers killed what ten victims with which of the eight methods in those respective games.

There are only 10 murders to solve, so 20 of the people in the lineup are neither victims nor murderers of anyone else in the lineup, though all but one character (Instant Win character) is from the same 10 games. In other words, with the lone exception, there are only characters from 10 games.

The methods (A-H) are not from the games any of the characters are from, and as such, they only relate in function and not necessarily in form to the actual methods used in the original games. All 8 methods are used, and seeing as there are 10 murders. that means some methods are used more than once.

A proper answer should list a murderer (01-40), a victim (01-40), and a method (A-H). (i.e. 01 - 40 - A). Only numbers and letters as per the example are necessary in an answer.

Each case solved gets you 10 points for a possible total of 100 points. Note that there is no credit for partially correct answers. All 3 must be correct to get the points.

As per the last couple weeks, points go down with subsequent guesses as such:

Guesses 1-10 = 10 points
Guesses 11-13 = 8 points
Guesses 14-15 =  6 points
Guesses 16+ = 0 points

Bastich Instant Win #5: Which one of the characters (01-40) in the line-up doesn't fit in? You get one guess per day for this. The first, if anyone, to correctly identify this will win a game to be claimed at the end of the contest per the tournament rules.

Send guesses by forum PM or by email (agtournament@comcast.net) ONLY!!

Don't forget to check the Official Tournament Info thread for any general tips and guidelines and Good Luck!

I think you're trying to do us in, Bastich!  Clever (and devious) puzzle!  [smiley=detective.gif]

I was originally going to discard this one as too difficult, but didn't have time to make a new one and had to go with it. If you haven't played these games, this week is going to be brutal.

I may make some changes on guess limits or give hints depending on how things go.

regardless, i say you don't cut any slack! keep it tough this week!!! 8-)

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Incidentally, can we clarify what each method icon means?

A = Blown up.
B = Poisoned.
C = er... groped to death?
D = Stabbed. Or chopped into little pieces.
E = Stabbed again, but with an icepick!
F = er... I'm thinking overdose, but that doesn't sound right. Wouldn't that technically be suicide?
G = Bashed in the head with a brick. Still thinking about what part the spatula plays (Buried alive?).
H = Shot, or possibly bashed in the head with a revolver. But probably shot.

A - Bomb
B - Poison
C - Bare Hand(s)
D - Knife
E - Ice Pick
F - Drugs
G - Trowel & Bricks
H - Gun

Aya & Val won the Instant Win this week. No need to send guesses for that anymore.

Again another nice idea, very original game, although viciously hard.

Despite Aya winning the Bastich Instant Win (Congrats!), can we keep sending a guess per day of who the impostor was so we can eliminate him/her as a potential murderer or victim?

I'll just tell you. It was only there to give away a prize, not make the game harder.

It's #16. It's a character from The X-Files Game BTW.

#16 is from x-files? boy was i wrong there!!! :
i thought it was from another game, from which i thought another sshot was too but i wasn't sure (was positive for #16... :
) so i threw it as a guess to clear things up... i figured if i was right then the other sshot was from another game i thought it might be (was correct there!), while if i was wrong then they went together... i was way off, but it worked out nice in the end!

If you are submitting an answer for a certain game that has multiple endings, there are actually two correct answers this week. There was an ending I never got and hence didn't know about the other answer. It thankfully doesn't affect guessing anything else. It just makes things a little easier for you on that one.

Do we get extra points if we guess both murders?

The 11th Hour. Glad to see I wasn't the only one hanged up on that one. It came to me at around 8 in the morning (about 7 or so hours ago).

The Knife.

#29 (Sheriff?). He's killed by #09 (Chuck?).

Actually, I think the Sheriff was one of the decent characters in the game. Or maybe not. I haven't really played it.
