In order to celebrate the 30th year of the commercial adventure game, I present to you 30 screen-shot fragments. All you need to do is guess which game each screen-shot fragment is from.

You get 3 guesses per shot with no penalties of any kind this week and can earn up to 100 points as per the text in the picture.

BTW, did I mention that this is the 30th year of commercial adventure games and that there are, in fact, 30 screen-shots.

30 years... 30 screen-shots... What a strange coincidence, don't you think? It's almost as if there is some relationship between the two...  (<---HINT HINT HINT!!!)

Bastich Instant Win #2: The player who submits the 100th correct guess this week wins a game instantly, to be collected as per the tournament rules.

Send guesses by forum PM or by email (agtournament@comcast.net) ONLY!!

Don't forget to check the Official Tournament Info thread for any general tips and guidelines and Good Luck!

I can see it, though I almost wish I couldn't. I -hate- screenshot fragments. *bangs head against wall*

Anyhow, what does "as per the text in the picture" mean?*

I also have no idea what you're hinting at with the 30th anniversary and 30 screenshots... but I've got bigger things to worry about, like not recognizing any of those shots... *angry @ myself*

*- Never mind, I get it. I hadn't seen the Black = 3pts, Green = 4pts, Red = 8pts legend.

Figuring out the hint will make this week FAR easier than it looks. It narrows down the possibilities tremendously.

If anyone wants confirmation of what they think the hint is pointing at, simply submit your guess with your other answers and I will tell you if you are correct. It won't give you points directly, but knowing the answer will make getting points on the shots much simpler.

indeed, you wouldn't believe how big a difference it makes to figure out the hint!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I really should just shoot myself. I messed up AGAIN.

Picture 26 is the wrong picture. The worst part is that I had already previously caught the error, but forgot to fix the picture.

The picture has now been updated.

Those who guessed 26 (and brought the mistake to my attention by doing so as my answer list didn't match the picture) keep their points.

In order to make up for it, I will simply tell everyone exactly what the hint means.

The games are in order by year of US release on computer. One game for every year of the 30 years from 2007 back to 1978

Can we guess the new screen fragment for an extra point?

That 1998 shot (#10) seems to really have people stumped. I got it off the internet though, so it IS possible if you can figure out where I got it. The game isn't a rare game either. The shot just isn't very representative of the game as a whole.

#23 is also off the internet, but seeing as it is this week's "nightmare", it may be too hard to get. Although I own it, it is a VERY obscure game...

#17? Not that I looked too terribly hard, but the shot doesn't seem to be at any of the usual places, although the game itself is easy to find screenshots of. As a small hint, I'll say that the game is a wee bit on the naughty side...

I'm really enjoying how close the competition is right now, and only the nightmare level pic remains unguessed...

If there is a specific screenshot that anyone wants to see the full shot of, just ask. I don't want to waste bandwidth posting them all when a lot of them are on Mobygames or elsewhere though.

I will give you the shot of Interbank Incident though:

Arg! Nightlong... I knew I should have played that game.

That is a shot of Pike Place Market, though, right? It looks identical.

I don't know. I've never played the game and never been to the market.

The game box does say that your character goes to Seattle though, so you are probably correct...

EDIT: I just looked the place up and it absolutely has to be the same place.

Definetely a must-play, if you like the cyberpunk atmosphere. Very good game.
