sHi All,
What is the latest news concernig this game.  I downloaded the demo and fell in love with the game.  I heard the problems with distribution had been worked out and that there was a release date but I forgot what it was, has any one else heard anything recently? :'(

Yep, that's the one. It's only been released in Spanish thus far.

So I see (now - for all the good that does) - Kind of confusing, the Moby Games link lists the released date as: July 2001...  Go figure.

Looks like an interesdting game - I'm off to download the demo.

What?

Duddies and Dudes,

Runaway got picked up by some publisher in Germany or something such that it will be published overseas and different languages other than english.  Hopgodfully ( I made that word up) a publisher will pick it up here.

And start using that word because I want it to get into the dictionary.  Just use it instead of hopefully.

...My head hurts...I've coded too much.
Gita did you do pseudocode today?

Has anyone done any research on this game to see if it has been released or not?

This question's already been answered. It has been released in Spanish, and has not yet been released in English.  While it is uncertain at this time whether or not it will be released in English, things are looking much more hopeful now than they were a few months ago, when the Pendulo Studios web site said only that further development of the game had been ceased due to lack of funding.

At least, that's what I understand from what I've read thus far.

Hope that helps,
gita

Great game. I'm writing a review about it (guess speaking spanish was useful after all
).
I think Pendulo Studios went out of bussiness. They made another great adventure: Igor Objective Uikokahonia (or sumthin' like that
).
I hope it gets published in English sometime in the future because its really good.

Yes, to my knowledge the developer - Pendulo Studios - is still in business, but as Harriet says, hunting for a publisher for Runaway.  According to their web site, they're good to go in "Germany, Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic.  More agreements are expected soon for the game's publication throughout the rest of the world."

I spent 5 mos getting this game in Spanish, so you can bet I'm waiting for a U.S. release

Yes, G, you're right. I think the publisher in Spain, Dinamic, its the one that went out of bussiness.
Did you like the game?

Its amazing how you can find people just like you in these forums.

Rael, who wants to own every adventure in existence but will probably never play half of them.

Probably won't play half of them? Nah, that's not me.  I want to own every adventure in existence, and intend to play every single one

Deleted UserThe owning is the easy part.  It is finding the time to play them that is the killer.  I may have a two lifetime supply.

I sort of tuck them away so that my husband is unaware of how many there are.  He sees the packages come in and I don't sneak them but he would be staggered if he saw just how many I have accumulated.

Yesterday, 18th Nov, Runaway has been released officially here in Germany. Bought it for about 30 $ (which is the official price here) and currently am in chapter 3 (out of 6).

Great game! Lovely comic-style graphics (1024x768 res), great voice acting, original funny, sometimes hard puzzles very well woven into the story (not just things like "find key to open door..."
. The video sequences lack a bit the high quality of the rest of the game, which to my mind is not a severe shortcoming.

Runaway seems to become quite a success here, racks are full with it, and it is even getting good reviews in the notorously adventure-phobist kiddie-dominated massmarket-oriented print mags here. So, odds are very high that it is going to be translated to English language sooner or later.

You folks can be looking forward to a great game. To my mind, a must-buy for adventurers.
