One of the most important things in a game, IMO, is the music. It helps a lot creating the atmosphere in a game.

Which game's music do you like? I would like to know it so I can listen to them too

I like the music of:

        Gabriel Knight 3

        Scratches

        Syberia

        Atlantis II / Beyond Atlantis

        Grim Fandango

        Arcatera (Main theme)

        And then there were none

        Sherlock Holmes: Silver Earring ('Humoresque')

        The Black Mirror [/left]

And from other games which I cannot remember now

Interesting topic Taio, I like the music from Shivers 2 and all the music from Myst Revelation and Exile (Myst) [smiley=thumbup.gif]  Those are the only 3 that really stick out - you won't be disappointed.

.

For an adventure game, Dimitri Bodiansky and Nicolas Varley outdid themselves with the original score for Syberia. The train theme is simply stunning.

On the simpler side, it's hard not to love the eclectic musical selections in Grim Fandango or the driving beat in titles like Full Throttle.

Outside the genre, Jeremy Soule's work is unequalled in the interactive medium. His orchestral themes for Icewind Dale and a long list of other great titles are just gorgeous.

I also adore the minimalist score composed for Fallout and Fallout 2 by Mark Morgan.

Cheers,  Terry

I liked the music in:

The Discworld games - Especially Discworld 2. It's also interesting to hear how some tracks are found in all three games but still manage to sound different.

Post Mortem - There isn't alot of music in this game, but what is there is very nice, and fits perfectly to the locations.

Grim Fandango - Some of the tracks are just brilliant. And I don't even like jazz that much.

The Monkey Island games - Fun and atmospheric music.

I like game music. Which each game I install, I copy the music files to my computer when it's possible.

No doubt about it. Riven....even the incidental soundtrack is the best.

Love too GK 3, Zork Nemesis and the fantastic swing era of Grim Fandango

Ill name the first three games that came to my mind:

1. Gabriel Knight : Sins of the fathers, amazing main piano theme.
2. Simon the sorcerer 1, also catchy main tune.
3. Goblins 3, i think the background music its great and original as well as the sound effects.

edit: add Jack orlando! great music.. jazz I think.

The Nancy Drew games
AC: And Then There Were None
Delaware St. John games
Scratches
Dark Fall
Syberia
Ghosts
Lighthouse

Also, GL's Intrigue at Oakhaven Plantation had a pretty opening theme.

My favorites are probably

The Dig
all the Gabriel Knight games
all the Myst games (Myst, Riven, Exile, Revelation, Uru, Myst V)
all the Monkey Island games
Atlantis 1 (The Lost Tales)

Also I've enjoyed
Grim Fandango
Outcast
Scratches
Shivers
7th Guest
miscellaneous themes from Sierra games that I downloaded from the queststudios website.
Faust (Seven Games of the Soul)
I don't remember hearing much music in Syberia, but the performance of Ochi Chyornie (sp?) was wonderful.

Grim Fandango and Monkey Island 3 are probably my all time favorites. Both had soundtracks that I enjoyed and continue to enjoy. Both suited their games perfectly, very evocative stuff.

Other good soundtracks:

Broken Sword 1 (Especially the soaring introduction)
The Gabriel Knight games
The (other) Monkey Island games
The Myst games
The Neverhood (Extremely silly, but jazzy good fun)
The 7th Guest
The Shivers games
Timelapse
Syberia 1

By now the most voted music is from:

        Gabriel Knight series

        Grim Fandango

        Myst series

        Syberia

        Monkey Island series

Now I'll try to listen to the music of those games you said which I hadn't listened to, like Shivers, 7th guest, D. St. John, Zork and the others

Thanks! Continue voting your favorites

ha! the subject says "favorite game", not adventure game! loophole for me!

pathologic's music throughout the whole game, hands down and light years ahead of anything else! 8-)

and again, just like the fav intro/ending thread, i remember nothing! i do remember a track that was playing on gk3's map when you were following somebody, which was amazing and i wish i could find an mp3 of it... i also loved qfg5's music... discworld noir, grim fandango and scratches were pretty good too

and back to non-adventures, i always found silent hill 1's intro music to be exquisite and, of course, the intro music to parasite eve 1... there's also a small piece on sh3, when you enter your apartment and find your father, which i really love (have an mp3 of this one! 8-))

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I think you can find that track in a file called "ambient", in the game's folder

I can open it with Windows Media Player without problem.

:-?

Maybe you should try downloading different codec packs for Windows Media Player. I have 2 or 3 packs installed, so it may be that.

It seems that most Sierra or Lucas Arts games were produced with the whole package-especially memorable musical scores. Now that really adds to the enjoyment of gaming.

If you haven't played some adventure games from the 90's. Give it a go. So much to discover there from these big gaming giants.

Maybe I should have made a poll, but it seems Grim Fandango and Gabriel Knight are the winners
