Not an action game, not an adventure – I’m not really sure how to classify this one (it’s in the same category as Lemony Snicket’s so far as I’m concerned).  The developers ought to shot for their god awful control system and lack luster game pad support (it doesn’t support either of mine).

It is fun to wander the territory however, and the graphics are quite good in some spots.  There are no puzzles to speak of, so most adventure gamers would probably be bored to death.  I can’t image action gamers would much care for it either.

None the less it’s worth a play if you’re in a slump. I couldn’t find the game I was after last weekend, so this one had to do.

Oh, and to the developers: Thanks for the lousiest control and camera system I've ever seen. Exactly what were you thinking? I swear you can get poor Harry to run back and forth (in an endless loop) by simply pressing and holding the forward key when the camera changes its angle.  Nice touch guys

What?

I tried to play the first Harry Potter game but wasn't enjoying it and gave it up.
I never played any of the Lemony Snicket games.
If the new Harry Potter is sort of like a virtual tour of Hogwarts, it might be interesting to some Harry Potter fans.
But you're not making it sound much like a game.

I didn't intend to make it sound like much of a game.
It's a somewhat enjoyable way to blow a weekend though (assuming you’re a Harry Potter fan).

I really enjoyed Lemony Snicket's, I just can’t put it into a category (over and above Movie knockoff).

Seriously -

Pick up a copy and see if you have a different opinion.

Edit -

Well, thanks to Inferno - I purchased another game pad, and the game is quite easy to control when you don't have to deal with the keyboard.

With the right equipment (it is a console port) - it plays quite well.

What?

Which gamepad are you using?  I was impressed with the graphics from the demo, but the keyboard controls were atrocious.  If your gamepad seems to run fine, then I might change my mind and pick this one up soon.

Seeing the movie tonight and I can't wait!

I went out with all intentions of purchasing an XBOX 360 game pad but they were out so I settled on a Logitech Rumblepad. I would have preferred wireless, but all they had in stock was the corded USB model – so far no complaints.

The game still has minor control issues but the major problems were improved by leaps and bounds with the game pad.

I agree with you on the graphics they can be quite impressive -
