Going to England for 4 weeks and then to California for 1 week. The bit in England will involve lots of driving around, lots of history, bits of Wales and Scotland and as few relatives as possible.
The bit in California will involve sunshine (or I'll be furious), and Disneyland.
I still have two assignments to hand up and one exam, suitcase to buy, washing to do, packing, oh and some accommodation to organise.... am I panicking yet? you betcha....
Do visit Disneyland - its my favorite place to unwind (Mr Toads Wild Ride is fun, so is the Haunted Mansion - I wonder if they're still there, it's been awhile).
Sunshine? Naw, you're going to have to travel a bit east (Arizona) for that one - we've got it o'plenty - 366 days a year
Have a good trip - enjoy

Have a great trip Caroline - especially the driving tour of England, Wales and Scotland. Your country of origin has much nicer castles than Disneyland. But I'm your boys also enjoy that center of childhood fantasy with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and the gang. At least I assume they will be coming along too..
Cheers, Terry

Oh, we'll be just fine. :-*
England sounds just lovely. And Disneyland - hey, I've actually been there! Indiana Jones has his own ride. Not quite the Fate of Atlantis, but still adventuresome.

ShadowWalker can probably answer this. :
BTW, I am exceedingly jealous of your trip. Well, not the California part, but definitely the European and mostly Scotland. One of these days I'll have to drag my dad's ashes out of the closet and go there to dump them in Lochwinnoch... [smiley=whistle.gif]

I expect I'll spend months sorting the pictures when I get back. I'm a bit of a photo fiend.

Status : Offline | Well, I'm a sucker. I've agreed to meet Caroline and her family of lunatics at Disneyland in Anaheim. I'm flying out this Saturday, July the 14th, picking up a large minivan to hold Caroline's big choco-butt, her talky Aussie children, her hubby and his 80-year old mother, and checking into the Paradise Pier resort hotel located on the California Adventure park property.
It's costing a billion dollars. Really. It is.
Out of the many, many times I've been to California on business, I've always ridden past the Matterhorn at Disneyland in Anaheim and sighed, "Someday I will go there."
I remember begging my parents to go there when was a little teeny kid after seeing The Mickey Mouse Club on Saturday morning television. "Too far!", they would say. I'll bet if my older brother had said he wanted to go we would have went. Grumble...
The impetus for me to make this trip was fear.
Fear that Caroline would drive on the wrong side of the road (with the steering wheel on the wrong side) in the Los Angeles area traffic and wreak havoc with the natives while scaring her poor mother-in-law senseless.
Fear that Caroline would eat all the Ghirardelli chocolates in the entire state of California. By herself. In one sitting.
Fear that Caroline would punch out Mickey Mouse when he spurned her advances, citing his devotion to Minnie.
And the biggest fear of all:
Not hearing the end of it if I didn't go.
And there you have it. My all-American attempt at international diplomacy.
So, if I start posting from a psycho ward or a poorhouse in a few weeks - ya'll will know why.

Status : Offline | Thanks, Terry. You know, any of you folks are welcome to meet us there at the Disneyland park. We'll be hitting the parks at least by Monday through Wednesday. I'm at the Paradise Pier Saturday the 14th through Thursday the 19th.
Post a note here, or email me (my button is showing) to let us know.
If I can go all the way from Georgia, then some of you could meander on over (or down) to say "Hey!" and meet us.
I'm bound and determined to have some childhood fantasies realized, one of which is meeting the "Mouth of Oz" in person.

And anyone else willing to brave the Floridian heat in July.

Oh come on now Mark. You know the official USA welcome is to slap 'em on the butt and hand 'em a cold beer. Tattoos and nose rings are optional.
Cheers, Terry

Maybe I should issue each one of the family AK-47s instead as a sign of goodwill.
And cold beer is out of the question. I'm not renting a Mr. Tastee-Freeze ice cream truck.
Hm! On second thought: with an ice cream truck I could just pack 'em all in dry ice and thaw them out once we got to the hotel.
