| Deleted User | I haven't played any of the LOTR's games yet but I will play the PC version when it's available.
Dabomb - take a look at the Schedule of Releases at JA. There are a number of different LOTR games that are or will be available. So many that I get confused.
I suspect that JA will have a review of some of them in the near future. ???

Status : Online | Hi all, Some of the LOTR games do look pretty (sorry I just can't keep them all straight). I think I'll pass though. I don't think most of them are adventure games, but, even if they were, I already know the story. I know how it turned out. How much suspense could there be, really? How willing would you be to solve the next puzzle, so you could see what happened, if you already know what happened!

Status : Online | A lot of people that read the books saw the movies, even though they knew what was going to happen. Same thing with the mocvies. Its sort of like rereading the books only you can now take control of frodo or aragorn or gandalf. It would also be kind of cool to fight orcs instead of reading on how they fought them.

Status : Online | Oh, a reply already! Ok, I can see why you might like the games. I think if I had just seen the movie, or read the books, I might want to play the games. However, having seen both the first movie, and read the books, it would be too much for me.
Some kind soul should play the adventure ones, and let us know about them.

Status : Online | Well I got and tried the PC version of The Fellowship. So far I'm not very impressed. Graphics are okay, controls need some getting used to and it's an action/adventure game (read action). The first couple of quests are picking up some items, selling Bags End and now I have to join the rest of the gang so we can leave The Shire. Unfortunately, I just got caught by a Nazgul, turns out I needed to switch to stealth mode (it said so on screen) but I was too late. Will try again later today and post some more if there's stuff worth mentioning.

Status : Online | SCiV, You are exactly where I stopped last night and didn't do exactly what I didn't do. Yep, showed what to do on the screen and I ignored it.
You can change the controls, I did. Have become pretty good in adventure/action games using the directional arrows along with the mouse so changed to that mode.
It is too early in the game for me to give an opinion on it (and it would only be my opinion). This first part, I think, is really a tutorial. When he really starts out on his adventure then we can really see if we like it or not and have a friend who is playing it and farther along who says it is hard in spots.
But remember, this isn't a point and click adventure. It is more a RPG/Adventure with some action. He can die, there will be sword play.
The few quests he had within the shire were very easy.

Status : Online | I have to say I'm not overly impressed with what I've seen of either game so far (though I'll probably try the game based on the books when it's released in the UK - any game that includes both Tom Bombadil and the Barrow Wights can't be all bad).
Both that and the one that looks like "golden axe" with prettier graphics (the console-only movie license) look like they are suffering from the "rush the game out in time for the next film" syndrome.
Still, the real time strategy game sounds interesting (and it will likely be PC only since RTS don't work well on consoles...thak god).
