The JA forum is run and moderated by volunteers. Please respect the mods and administrators who work hard to make the site run smoothly.
General
The JA Forum is primarily intended for people to discuss adventure games, get to know each other and freely express their opinions. While some of those opinions might run counter to your own, please respect them. It is understandable that things may become heated at times and we do not wish to restrict people from expressing themselves.
With that in mind, please understand that there are certain behaviors which are not acceptable:
- No personal attacks. Do not resort to name calling.
- No profanity.
- No racist, sexist, or religion-bashing comments.
- No discussions about religion or politics in any way.
- No posting of links to Warez sites. Under no circumstances does JA condone pirated software. Promoting such sites and activities will result in being banned.
- No posting of links to porn sites or posting pornographic material. You will be banned.
- No stalking. Following a forum member around to numerous threads for the express purpose of harassing them will not be tolerated.
- Consequences: first offense - deletion of post that violates the guidelines and a PM warning; second offense - deletion of post that violates the guidelines, a PM stating it and a 1 week suspension from the forum; third offense - deletion of user account and banning from the forum.
Forum Etiquette
Note that we have an extremely diverse group of forum members of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, and religions. Please keep that in mind when posting and starting new threads.
- If posting something of an adult nature, please note ADULT at the start of the thread subject. This does NOT mean you can post porn (see above) or text of a highly sexual nature.
- Do not post in all caps, people will think you are shouting.
- Do not post quotes, within quotes, within quotes ad infinitum.
- Please use the forum spoiler tags when posting spoilers.
- Even if a topic has been brought up previously, please refrain from belittling the poster about using the search functions.
Developers
JA is developer friendly and is frequently visited by commercial and well as indie developers. If you didn't like their game and feel the need to tell them, try to give them descriptive reasons for why you didn't like it. Comments such as "it sucks" or "its crap" are not acceptable. If they have taken the time to get feedback from you, please show them the courtesy of giving them comments they can actually work with. It's their creations that we are all here for in the first place.
Summary
All of this can be summed up as simply using common sense and showing respect for your fellow forum members.
If you have a dispute with a decision that a moderator has made please contact that moderator via PM to state your case.
These guidelines are exactly that - guidelines. They are not rules meant to restrict forum members from posting or expressing themselves, nor are they a definitive guide. JA reserves the right to make judgement calls and/or changes at any time.
We can be heroes, just for one day.
