Status : Offline | I wondering if this poster was only included in a demo version of Black Dahlia, and not included in the original 1998 issue. I wish I could remember (or access) the e-bay description that the seller had for the game. I do think it was an edition that went out to the publishers,, and that's why it had the poster and the demo disc included.

Anyway, I did find time to play through the Freddy Pharkas floppy demo and the Space Quest 6 demo. Those demos are great fun. Thanks again for letting us know about those special game demos.
The Timelapse demo is very unique and interesting. First of all, part of the demo will run under a modern graphics card, while part of it will not. The part that will run on a modern machine is called the Timelapse Overview. This includes screen shots, a trailer, and two mini-game puzzles (the bow and arrow shooting puzzle and the rock/paper/scissors mini-game). Unfortunately, the portion of the demo that won’t run on a modern machine is the part that allows you to explore a nice chunk of the actual game world in ancient Egypt and solve a large information-gathering puzzle (but using an alternate solution compared to the final version, of course). Oh well … so much for that.
Lastly, I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I have a lead on acquiring a demo for a cancelled game that has me very excited at the moment. I’m a long way from having anything concrete to report yet, so I won’t even say which game it is, but bear with me and I’ll be back with more info as soon as I’m able. For some reason, I’ve been reaching the end of many journeys lately; maybe yet another will reach a conclusion soon. I just hope this one isn’t another dead-end like Vulcan Fury.

Status : Online | I am back to tell you (if you care about these exotic demos) some very interesting and exciting news. Oh, I am just terrible about keeping a secret. I have successfully tracked down a playable demo for … It Came for Zog!
Can you believe it?! I hope you are pleased to hear this news. I’m personally just so thrilled. The development of this game began in the late 1990s, but was cancelled in late 2000 or early 2001.
I admit that I don’t yet have the demo in my possession (like I said – I’m a terrible secret keeper), but I have a promise straight from one of the (ex)developers:
“I have a 70mb playable demo … I'll dig it out of some archive somewhere and upload it”
AND, I have yet another lead on yet another demo for a cancelled game. This particular lead is for a HUGELY popular cancelled game (not Warcraft Adventures – darn!). Make no mistake; if this next one works out, you’ll have to upgrade me to Grand Sorceress of Exotic Demos.
As soon as the Zog developer follows through on his promise, I’ll let you know where to go to retrieve it.

I don't collect games (just play them) but I do collect old software - although of course "old" is relative, we're talking teens, 20 years at most! That collecting makes me realize how ephemeral software is. Software really can simply disappear, and that's kind of sad.
I fully understand your excitement when you get a new hard-to-find demo, maybe after several years of trying. It took me about two years to find a release of an operating system which was official but never available in retail. Former developers are the best chance for this kind of stuff - one gave me the original CDs (then it took me another year of eBay watching to buy the hardware to run the thing on)
Sometimes it happens that software is really gone. A while back I was trying to track down the source code for a more or less obscure software product. The current owner of the product was willing to release the source but couldn't find it. I contacted several original developers of the product all assured me that they didn't have the source either. It's simply gone - and that was a program running on the DOS PC platform and last sold in 1994 or so, not something running on hardware that doesn't exist anymore and on an operating system no one alive has ever heard of.
So collect demos, keep them safely stored, and one day open a museum!
I forgot my sig.

Status : Online | So I was just out searching for any info on the 20,000 Leagues Demo I remembered from years ago and came across this.  oes anyone still have access to the demo or a link where it can still be downloaded from? I've been dying to try it but the d/l link for the demo has been dead for a while.
If anyone could help me out, I'd be very grateful!

It's currently at 15% uploaded. I assume it will give me a download link once it's finished.
edit: Dern thing quit on me. Have to start it over. Currently on 4%.

I'm going to try and make this into a torrent so that more people will have the opportunity to try it out. Also, that way it will hopefully last a little bit longer on the net.
Thanks again!

Status : Offline | I'll upload the Temujin demo to Sendspace. It will have to be in two parts because of Sendspace's upload limit. My upload speed is pathetic (about 20KB/s), so it will be a while (Sendspace estimate is 2 hours). I'll post back when I have a download link.
The md5sum of TEMTOUR.part1.rar should be 1fcf88f385134ce58ce658d38f2ea592 The md5sum of TEMTOUR.part2.rar should be 3ef7132d5ec22b63a2e54fe906b9818e

Once you get that, I'll try uploading the 20,000 Leagues demo.
