Spoiler AlertFixing the painting, more specifically: hitting the gong twice. An idiotic puzzle to begin with.
PS: I'll upload the second part of the temujin demo. Will take a while.

Status : Online | Yes, MichalN, my forum username (ZoeRyan) is based upon The Longest Journey characters. I am not intending to deceive anyone (the reference is obvious to adventure gamers), but there are 2 guys out there who stalk me and seem to be obsessed with me. So, I had to choose a name other than my own. I chose to go with TLJ series because I think both games are phenomenal. I also relate to Zoe Castillo, as we are both college students (in her case, ex-college student) struggling to find a job and, in a grander sense, a direction.
And thanks again, Betje, for uploading the 2nd half of the Temujin demo for buni.

In case it sounded that way, my comment was not meant to be reproachful. I would guess that most people do not use their real names, for reasons usually a lot more benign than yours! I hope the stalkers only bother you online and not in real life (that would be downright scary).
I'm using my real name mostly because I could not come up with anything better at a short notice (and didn't feel like changing it later)
So, I had to choose a name other than my own. I chose to go with TLJ series because I think both games are phenomenal. I was not too impressed with the ending of Dreamfall, but up to that point it's been terrific (including the original TLJ). Certainly among the top adventure games.

Well, I found a job (or rather a job found me), but I'm not expecting to find a direction, ever I hope your direction seeking will work out better than Zoë's!

PS: I should add that I didn't realize my computer was too fast until I'd consulted a WT. If by "playing on XP" you meant "playing on fast PC" then yes  but I was playing on Windows 2000). The puzzle you mentioned was indeed very difficult and without a WT I certainly wouldn't know how to do it. But in the end I did... and I'm not sure if it was especially difficult on a fast PC or if it was supposed to work like that. Some of the puzzles in Temujin definitely qualify for the Top 10 Most Insane Adventure Puzzles. The Incredible Machine puzzle in particular felt like a bad joke.
On the other hand, I would say Temujin is one of the best produced adventure games ever (it is too bad that PCs weren't fast enough for higher res and/or bigger video window back then, because the source material was probably top quality). I liked the navigation in Temujin - in many first person games I get lost easily, especially if there are no transition videos. In Temujin it was much easier to keep track of where I was going and which in direction I was heading.
And now an unrelated gripe - I downloaded and ran the Nautilus demo. All the movies are unwatchable because the audio is terribly choppy and loops. Which is odd because Temujin had no such problems at all (neither demo nor full game), and it must be using a very similar engine. Anyone else seen that?

Well, *I* am sure. I had no problems with the gong on the slower PC. On my XP it was impossible to hit the gong twice fast enough.

Making a cup of tea, you mean? Loved it! Off the top of my head, I can't think of any idiotic puzzles, except the fix-the-painting one.

Yes. (Why didn't you post your question in the other thread about nautilus demo, btw?) It was incredibly choppy at first, unplayable. Don't know if it will solve your problem, but this is what I did: Run dxdiag --> Sound --> move the slider all the way up. It's still a little bit choppy, but I can play the demo.

Making a cup of tea, you mean? Loved it! It's not that it was a particularly bad puzzle per se, but it seemed to be thrown in for no good reason. It just didn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the game.
Yes. (Why didn't you post your question in the other thread about nautilus demo, btw?) No particular reason. I never said I was a well organized person

It's still a little bit choppy, but I can play the demo. Tried that... I can't say it made no difference, but it's unusable with any sound acceleration setting (on two different PCs).
Later: I pulled an old 400MHz Celeron box (also running Windows 2000) out of the closet. On that machine, the videos are almost flawless.

You can "hmm" me all you like... it was impossible on my XP, not tricky but doable... simply impossible. Piece of cake on the older one.

Well, if you had, you'd know I already mentioned the choppiness.

And thanks for putting up that demo It's downloading right now.

You shouldn't have believed me...! Bad Betje.
I'd forgotten why it didn't work on my XP, what sequence of actions I had to perform in the short timeframe. I still have all the savefiles on my XP, so I restored the game with the catapult lined up. Here's what I did (when the gong is still moving after the first shot): take a bullet, push the handle again with bullet in hand, drop bullet in basket, push handle. Too late every single time... that's what I must have done years ago too. But all of a sudden I had one of my few bright moments just now: it's much more efficient to immediately push the handle again, take a bullet, drop it in the basket, push the handle. Success!!
Yeah... not very smart, I know. Alzheimer Light or something. :

Status : Offline | The Space Quest VI demo contains puzzles and scenarios not found in the game. From Wikipedia:
Sierra On-Line created a special CD-ROM version of Space Quest VI's demonstration game, which was distributed with PC Gamer Disc 9 included with Volume 2, Issue 8 from August 1995, early pressings of Phantasmagoria, and possibly other media. This self-contained demonstration featured an alternate story not related to the main game and is fully voiced by the Space Quest VI voice actors.
The demo begins with Roger Wilco floating in space outside the bridge, washing the viewscreen while everyone else on the bridge is relaxing. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a hollow cube-shaped ship approaches the Deepship 86 and beams aboard two toaster-headed mechanoids - the Bjorn. They turn all of the crew into scoops of lemon sorbet (except Roger, who quickly ducked behind the viewscreen). Now it's up to Roger to find a way to restore his crewmates and drive off the Bjorn invaders.
Among some of the extra in-jokes in this version:
* A shuttle bay full of shuttlecraft from Star Trek: The Next Generation ("Some guy wearing a Delco Air Filter on his face parked this here.", Star Wars ("You hear a disembodied voice saying 'Remember your parking space, Luke.'", Aliens, and others. * Items and references from all of the previous Space Quest games all over Roger's Quarters (such as the Hint Book from SQ IV, the Translation Device from SQ I, and Roger's official Employment Rejection Papers from Sierra On-Line he received in SQ III).
A demo-related easter egg can be found in the regular Space Quest 6 by entering the code for "Bjorn Chow" (the Bjorn being a parody of Star Trek's Borg) into the "Mr. Soylent Clear" food replicator that is only obtainable in the Space Quest 6 demo.

The other two demos I can't seem to find is for Eye of the Kraken and Titanic: The Lost Mission. All I can find for Eye of the Kraken is the full game since it's freeware now. Anyone know of a link for either one?

I think I have Titanic: The Lost Mission tucked away somewhere in my collection. Anyone know if it would be legal for me to upload that to Sendspace or not? It was essentially a demo, but was sold in stores, so I'm not sure it can legally be copied and shared like a demo.

But yeah, Titanic: Lost Mission was in itself kind of a short stand alone add-on of Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time so in a way it can be thought of as a demo too. But you're right, this one did sell in stores and online.

Joe_Molotov, thanks so much for telling us about the SQ6 exotic demo. You know what? I have the demo disk, but I didn’t even know that the scenario has exclusive content! I only have to do my laundry tomorrow (I just finished all of my homework), so I will get to play it very soon. Very, very nice.
Guru, I see you found your copy of the Titanic demo. Actually, that reminded me of a demo disk that I got for free from CompUSA, in December, 1996. It’s called the “3 GAME PC CD-ROM SAMPLER” and it includes demos for Titanic Adventure Out of Time (later in early 1998 this demo was released as a commercial product named Titanic The Lost Mission), Timelapse, and NCAA Championship Basketball. Guess what? I just remembered that the Timelapse demo is also a unique scenario! It’s unique in the same way that the Scratches Teaser 2 demo is unique. You know how in the Scratches Teaser 2 demo you have to solve the same puzzle that’s in the full version (you have to get light to shine into the lower level of the crypt), but in a completely different way? That’s what the Timelapse demo is like. After giving everybody a little more time to download the 20,000 Leagues demo, I can upload the Timelapse demo to sendspace, if you’re interested. Finally, here’s the no-longer-available-anywhere-except-from-me(!) exotic demo for Eye of the Kraken:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5hxx8l
Just be sure to read the “readme” file after extracting it, to learn all the details regarding this unique demo.

Interesting about Timelapse. I have the game but have yet to play it since it needs a very old video card. I'm assuming the demo is the same way?
