The ending was not too much at all! It was the direction the story was going right from the beginning and I thought it was pretty obvious!
What's the difference between that and the ending of GK2, involving Wagner's lost opera and werewolves!?! Wasn't that just a little bit far-fetched?

| Deleted User | Bad me! With GK3 I checked Reviews (then a Walkthrough!) and seem to remember someone (Harriet????) stating that the end of GK3 was not to her liking due to the "action" bits, which should NOT appear at the end of an Adventure Game ..... I agreed, tried, saved, tried ....... etc and gave up. I missed a few points, but what the hell
I also "gave up" with the last bit of GK2 ........ jeepers! However, enjoyed both and I might even start them again ..... minus the Walthrough ... next time

I believe no one in this topic has suggested something like that. I can only speak for myself, anyway, and I've never heard the Pope saying anything about GK3's ending... What I meant is many people is very sensitive about the religion topic, and sometimes can't appreciate a good story (book/movie/game) because of their personal beliefs. I believe Michal gave a great example about this with Kevin Smith's Dogma. It's just art, not science or religion...even when science or religion become art's subject (again, in a film, book or game). Some people seem to forget this difference.
OR are you stating that the WORLD (not USA, as they already think they ARE the World, so they ARE BAD) is becoming "bad" because... Again, I don't think anyone in this topic has post something about that issue...At least, I didn't. Anyway, I couldn't answer that question, because I don't get the last part: the world is becoming bad because... of playing PC games? ??? I don't think so.... :

GK1 is one of the worst examples of a pixel-hunting nightmare in the history of adventure games. GK2 was an improvement but had some remarkably stupid things in it (like the section where there are no puzzles but you can't get through it until you've clicked on every clickable thing there) and there was some truly awful acting (Grace was bad). GK3 had wonderful puzzles, I found the action stuff at the end acceptable (perhaps annoying for people who only play adventures but I liked them). And while a lot of people hated Tim Curry in GK3, I thought he was great - I think a lot of players got used to the affable GK2 version of Gabriel and didn't like Curry's snotty take, but I thought he was hysterical.

Sorry if that's as shallow as my grave may deserve to be for that but at the time there were a lot better looking games including AGs.

Godfather , I agree that was exactly right. My favorite was Gk2 and I liked GK1 as well, for it's time it was one of the best. Jim

Status : Online | I loved GK3, it is one of my personal favorites:
- the story is very detailed and captivating. Jane Jensen is a true genious.
- the puzzles are very entertaining -with few exceptions, but every game has its share of bad puzzles. I think that Le Serpent Rouge is probably one of the best puzzles ever created (if not THE best puzzle). I also enjoyed gattering clues using the Sidney computer. I never saw anything like that before on an adventure game. Oh, and I almost forgot, GK3 has no mazes, no dead ends and no sliding puzzles .
- I found the voice acting quite good. Maybe not the best I ever heard, but the main characters were very well done. Especially Tim Curry and his Gabe acting. Boy, I LOL a lot of times with Gabe and his comments. Grace was also funny at some moments, but mostly a sensitive and inteligent person. It is good to see a strong female character for a change (Lara Croft, anyone?).
- I thought the graphics were quite good, but since I do not play adventure games for their graphic quality, I would not mind if they were not that great at all (you want a really good example of BAD graphics? Play Simon 3D). Besides, all games of today WILL look bad in 10 years or so, maybe even in 5 years. I still remember when Pitfall looked good back in the 80s.
- the game controls are very unique, and that is probably the reason most gamers do not like them. There is nothing quite like GK3: a point and click game with optional keyboard control. I enjoyed the controls very much, and would love to see more games using something similalr.
- I liked the ending, and even though I am religious (AND proud of it) I did not feel offended. Actually, I thought it was a clever solution for the treasure hunt story. Remember: it is just a game, not the actual truth. I would not like if the treasure was actually just a chest full of gold coins or something like that. The way Jane imagined, it remind me of the surprise I got when watching movies like "The Sixth Sense" or "The Fight Club". I love surprise endings...when they are connected to the rest of the story (and GK3 ending certainly was).
Anyway, that is just my opinion!

Status : Online | I agree. What's more, I think GK3 is quite possibly the greatest game ever made, in my book. The story blew me away, the puzzles were entertaining and mostly logical (except for the hemeroid cream one, and Gabe even made fun of how outragous it was that it actually worked). The graphics (I thought) were great. And I'm not just saying that because I really liked it. I have a good video card, though, so that might have helped a lot. Lip-sync was near perfect and voice acting was amazing (after playing the game for the 3rd time, Tim Curry DID begin to grate a bit). The sound effects were excellent and the music was great, always fitting the mood of the moment. Another thing, the dialog WAS NOT BORING, which is something I don't see in the majority of games. The interface was also great. The free-moving camera is something that MUST BE USED IN MORE ADVENTURE GAMES! It was almost like filming a movie to me and the ability to change the camera was great for examining everything. The buttons may have been a bit hard to identify, but holding the mouse over them for a second gave what it was for. Also, the ability to turn off the cinimatic cameras was really great. With it turned off, you could examine the scene around you while you were talking. Maybe you would notice that the person you are talking to is crossing their fingers behind their back or that they are hiding something or that someone is watching from a distance. To me, this game was the pinnacle of adventure gaming. Good day, good night.  Sorry if it was long-winded)
What is matter? What is mind? No matter. Never mind.

Status : Offline | Well said CMK2901! I totally agree with you. GK 3 for me is the best adventure game ever made. All reasons have already been said: amazing story, well-integrated puzzles, the right length, good voice-acting, nice graphics, beautiful music and a lot of freedom to explore every niche of the game world.

GK2, however, will always be my all time favorite game.
