Find it a tad odd that JA got the exclusive seeing the relationship between adventuregamers and Telltale (i.e half their staff work for Telltale).

Maybe it's going to be the same thing. Maybe you'll receive the boxed version for free. (Except the shipping costs)

Yeah, you would think so huh
But according to Jackal at AG Forum there is no such thing as a news exclusive. Hmmm....sounds like someone is eating some sour grapes.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I'm not all that upset or anything and I will probably buy the boxed version as well (especially since it won't have any of that intrusive internet verification crap), but it would have been a nice gesture.

Randy, really. Is that not beneath you? Anyone who bothered reading my whole post and not only a convenient part of it would know I was addressing a point of information ownership raised right before that.
For those wondering, we do in fact have some Telltale employees on staff (though certainly nowhere near half), a fact we've been up front about from the beginning and appropriate steps taken to avoid any conflict of interest. But it's certainly true that no Telltale news is a surprise to us no matter where it's announced first.

An explanation of what is and is not considered exclusive in your opinion makes it sour grapes. You have an 'exclusive' with Mike Levine on your front page - do you mean that your interview will be the only one in the entire world or is it the contents of that interview that are 'exclusive.' I'll jump ahead here and guess you'll say the contents.
Well, the contents of what was written about Sam n Max is exclusive also. I wrote it. It's not a press release. If it was a press release, it wouldn't be exclusive.
It's funny though, I remember when you guys at AG used to accuse JA of bias towards Dreamcatcher even though we have no one that works there. Now the shoe is on the other foot and you, of course, see no problem with it. Tsk, tsk.

I read the Adventure Gamers Forum entry for this very early and was shocked and dismayed that The Powers That Be at AG didn't even want to acknowledge the fact that Just Adventure received and announced the great news about TAC picking up the Sam 'n' Max Season One boxset first.
Sorry, AG. When you snooze, you lose. Maybe you can get another, uh, exclusive soon. I'm sure Randy would graciously give Adventure Gamers a nod.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

News media always tries to differentiate the two--(IE, "an anonymous source close to the President, informs us that," or "an industry insider reports that" Over at Telltale, their Public Relations basically confirms this, stating that "This wasn't supposed to have been announced yet" and addressing further speculation by reiterating that "this deal wasn't even supposed to be public yet."
The context of Jackal's comment at the AG forum was in response to somebody who believed that JA had somehow secured the exclusive rights to announce said deal (thus preventing AG from being allowed to announce the same), and Jackal basically said "there's no such thing as exclusive news," nothing is preventing AG from also announcing said news, not the least being some "exclusive right" that JA has.

Believe ulterior motives if you wish, but I was simply answering the implication immediately beforehand that we have no right to report the same news even if we wanted to. Needless to say, that is a falsehood that needed correcting, so I did. And frankly, the notion that I had sour grapes over anything our staff has direct inside knowledge of is pretty silly. I didn't offer kudos or comment of ANY kind on the actual information itself because I'm not prepared to comment on the validity of the news at this point (which I also said).
EDIT: Whoops, numble's post wasnt there before I started, so basically... what he said.
I'm really not interested in anything that happened between the sites before I started at AG. I'm not into oneupmanship, and really don't expect others to be, either.

Well half was a jokey comment. I think there are 3 of them.
And none of them review the Telltale stuff.
I'm sure they show the same professionalism in their reviews that JA+ always has with TAC reviews even though they were costantly accused of bias.
I must admit to the disappointing attitude towards another adventuring site. These stupid mud slinging exercises accomplish nothing. As a member of both commuities I have defended this place in the past when people have slagged it off. Adventuregamers has also welcomed a few of our members when this pace disappeared for weeks.
I didn't have a problem with Randy posting the news. Fair dues to him, as a journalist receiving leaked news he has every rigt to post it. I just remarked that I was surprised at the leak.

I believe when you purchased the season download you have the option of a disc version at the end of the season free of charge (apart from shipping).
P.s Season subscribers were given a nice surprise today with Episode 4 a week early.

Sometimes it is simply a matter of putting two and two together based on available information, rumors through the grapevine and the one that always gives it away, "We can't comment on that."

True, but from what I've heard, when you install from the disc, you will have to go thru the same internet verication/registration as with the download version. The release of a boxed version only highlights the fact that it seems overkill to require a complicated & intrusive install routine (download a downloader/installer, download full installer using downloader/installer, install from the installer, have an internet connection available while installing to register and 'unlock' the product') when with any boxed game, you simply install whenever you want and to any number of computers you own & with no internet connection necessary.

The future ain't what it used to be!
