Looking in issues of old Electronic Gaming Monthly magazines I found a article in one of them and I quote; "THE CRYING GAMES Gamemakers have done blood and sweat to death--now they want to bring on the tears.  But do developers have what it takes to turn on the waterworks?"  This can be found in issue #204 or June 2006.  The quote pretty much explains everything; making   video game players cry.  I won't go into great detail of what they said but it brings on a interest question.  Has a video or computer game ever make you cry?  For me, the answer is yes!  Call me crybaby if you will but I don't care.  I happen to be emotional at times.

There are only two seens I actually cried from two video games and two that almost got me there.  The ones that got me sad was the bad ending from Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest (The one that Simon dies) and the other is the ending of Lufia 2 Rise of the Sinistrals, mainly due to the music (I won't spoil the ending for this one.)  The Castlevania one only got me once.  Lufia 2's ending gets me every time.

For the ones that almost got me sad were a seen in Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 for that matter, depending on which version you choose) and the seen of what awaits for you at the end of the Dead Sea in Chrono Cross. (Won't spoil this one either.)

Care to share one of you sob stories from video or computer games?  And please, spare us the one of the death of a certain you-know-who from Final Fantasy 7.  That one has been told too many times.

FF XII : Towards the ending scene where Ashe was once again with her husband. It was so sad and it made me cry.

Kingdom Hearts I ending : After battling here and there and when it came to the ending, it was so breathtaking and a whole lot of mixed feelings that it made me cry. I think it has something to do with the music.

I..  think maybe so.
on't know if I shed any tears or not, but one example which comes immediately to mind was Final Fantasy VII.  It was very affecting, with respect to one character.  More so than anything in any other computer game I ever played at that time.

It doesn't seem hard to do.  Write a good game with characters we care about and it should be easy to affect our emotions.

Darn Final Fantasy games.  I think I got a little misty-eyed when I finished up the last one I played, which is also the first one I've ever completed.

I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.
