Yay! I'm reviving this long dead thread. I wasn't sure wehther I should just open a new thread or not, so I just dug up the old one, mainly because I see that GM is not being discussed much around here.
This also happens to be my personal return to the boards, I would really like to see them more alive and vital.
So, the first thing I'm going to recommend is this website: http://cort-x.fwheel.net/
It's a very well made fan site (yes, a fan site already!) that was actually created a few months ago, and I recall already linking to it before. Just click on "LINKS" in the site's menu and you'll know the rest of the informative sites you should know of. It even lists JustAdventure btw! (and two other Polish and Czech fan made sites, wish I could read either language so if anyone finds something of interest on one of those do share!).
Basically since the last time I posted on this thread a few new screens have been released, also some concept art on the way. As for info, I'm not so sure what's new so I'll recommend reading the FAQ and the 'ABOUT' on Cort-X, as it provides the latest leaked inforamtion regarding gameplay and characters (I'm kind of swamped right now so you'll have forgive me), and the interviews with Jane.
Also, they launched an official web site (if you followed my link you'll find it 8-)) and a trailer. From the trailer I observed a few things people may find annoying but I'm not sure I'll be really bothered by them. Basically I'm reffering to the seemingly mechanical "walk", gait, of the characters (at least the main playable character Sam). Now I don't particularly mind how realistic the walk of the characters may or may not be so I'm not complaining just yet. Also remember this is a trailer things might change.
Right now my mind is flooded so I'm not providing you with everything on this post, but that's what the useful link above is for. Aside from that, as you'll see on Cort-x's news page, Jane gave two interviews to two different web sites, the one on the Escapist being a bit more comprehensive and contains a remark by Jane I think many of you (me included) will disagree with but I'm not holding it against her. Who knows, she's been in this business for a longer time than most of us (not to mention the fact I'm not even actually 'in' the business ) so I'm reserving judgement.
On a personal note, tomorrow I have the who knows what number driving test (sigh...) so I'm quite nervous and that's what I meant when I said I'm swamped. Not to mention in about a month I'm saying bye bye to civil life (those who remember me will know what I'm talking about).
So I hope to hear from you guys!

(but still I want NOW!).
For those wondering, the game is slated to be released early 2008 (a few months from now).
EDIT: How could I have forgetten! All you really need to do in order to see what's in store in the music department is listen to the music of the trailer and hear the familiar but loved Robert Holmes tunes and melodies. Yup, he's coming back!

Jalex, the game is due to be released early 2008, more specifically the first quarter of 08'. So basically we're talking a few months wait unless the date gets *shudders* postponed. (which is actually both a good and a bad thing).

I believe that the more accurately the manifestation of the game will fit Jane's vision, the better the game will be. Somehow, almost in all games, the player can notice "holes" in the plot - holes which tend to increase as you progress. Almost every excellent game out there has them, and it is very unfortunate. However, the reason is clear - the game is being pushed to shippment, trying to satisfy hungry fans and choking deadlines. So, I for one, would rather wait another couple of months to recieve something that is closer to what the admirable creator wanted it to be.
Oh, how I wish Myst 4 was given a little more time... Could've been my favorite, easily :-\
There's definitely, definitely definitely no logic to humen behaviour.

Of course there have been many mishaps like TAC cancelling the project if I'm not mistaken (don't remember why really :).

I would not advise people who are scared of spoilers to read it though, since some people may find the information given too revealing, but trust me it seems like the details exposed are miniscule on the bigger scale of things (we're talking merely about the tutorial :), so don't be afraid! You have been warned though!

Wow, reading this thread again after all this time sure gives a weird feeling.
As most of you know, a lot has changed since I last posted on this thread. It started as my own personal thoughts on the (then) upcoming GM, and finally became a kind of official thread about the game (IIRC, I also opened a frustration soapbox thread about the obscureness surrounding the game's [then upcoming] release).
But anyway, I've decided to revive this one a few months after the game was officially pushed back for over a year (Q1 2009...*SIGH*). While I'm in no way happy about this, I'm also still hopeful, just as long as it doesn't become a pattern (God forbid us! ).
With that positive note, however, and with the game (AGAIN!) approaching its release closer and closer ( ), I'm still baffled with the lack of any info. Once a week I do a "GM Day", browsing and combing the web for anything on all plausible sites (especially Cort-X).
I just wish the above situation will change in the coming months.
Cheers,
TC

Hello TC, hope army life is okay now. I think you'll have to play some other games as distraction instead of waiting..... waiting.... waiting.... for Grey Matter.
You know, when this much anticipation builds up the end result is always disappointment. Come and say hello to us in the off topic forum.

Status : Online | Oh Caroline I feel so ashamed! Seriously, I left a few months ago without so much as a goodbye or even a cya... And now I come back like nothing. Hmmmm....Then again I was pretty much lurking the whole time, so I guess at least to me it didn't seem like I was absent at all (well duh! : ).
It's nice posting here again after all this time. These boards are extremely addictive, and I'll always come back here in the end.
As for games, just finished an old LA "forgotten" classic, The Dig (not really forgotten, just not nearly as popular as other LA games and series). It's a nice little game and I'm proud to say I finished it with no help whatsoever (the difficulty level I would say is medium to mildly hard/challenging).
About the army - well, I'd really rather not talk about it too much. :-/ Let's just say I'm really disillusioned and reverted back to the belief I had prior to being conscripted. To think I have about 2.5 more years to spend there makes me sad... Not to mention reserve duty later (regular reserve duty for men is supposed to be until you're 45 yo! I sure hope I won't do reserve even once in my post army life > by then I hope to leave this country).
Again, thank you for the warm welcome back Caroline, it's always good to be back! Yeah I should probably curb my enthusiasm a tiny notch, and play other games waiting for GM. I sure hope not to be disappointed in the end (though if the game is released after all, I doubt that'll happen!)

Well this is the main on-topic forum, but I'll answer you anyway -
I currently (forcibly) serve in Israel's army, officially the IDF, specifically in its Air Force Corps.

Come and say hello to us in the off topic forum. I have to agree with this. No matter how good it turns out to be, there is no way this game can possibly live up to the insane amounts of hype it's been generating - and that's if it ever gets released at all, which is looking increasingly uncertain. At this point I'm honestly inclined to treat it as vapourware until I see some actual evidence that it's still in development.

'07... >), but that I only have DTP/ANACONDA to blame. It's been several good months since the announcement on change of developers (Tonuzuba ----> Wizarbox), and more than that since the actual change itself took place, and yet they don't seem to care at all about their PR and advertising, or lack thereof truly. But again, I can hardly blame JJ for this, and the only thing I can do really is wait, and read the official site's English boards, and visit Cort-X (whose creators are also disappointed as can been seen in the above mentioned forums) once in a while.
There's nothing that'll make me happier if the game does get released eventually, and trust me, I'll pay every last penny for it gladly.
(Oh and I hope conversation sequences will have changing POVs during the dialogue like in GK2 and GK3 )

By the way, I really do hope that the dialogues in GM will be conducted the same way as in GK3 and GK2 (and a few other AGs), meaning with changing perspectives during the conversations. I've reached the conclusion I really don't like static conversation sessions, and a dynamic approach is way more interesting!

I´ll let you know what I´ll see in Leipzig next week, i´m sure it´ll be awesome and hopefully with the GM presentation at the Games Convention, the time for regular news and updates has finally come for Gray Matter.
