Has anyone ordered games from the Software Society?  This is their site:

http://www.rochnet.net/

I ordered several weeks ago and haven't received my games yet...my emails to them haven't been answered very well and I was just wondering if this company has a good reputation.

Sorry Gama......haven't heard of them. I went to that site and looked at it. Then thought.......are some sites out there just scams to get money?? I hope you do receive your games soon. Maybe you should stop payment on your order though.  :-/

I'm not sure what to do yet...I ordered 5 older games that I REALLY wanted (totally over 90 bucks) and the first two times i emailed they responded that it's going out tomorrow/soon..well, my third email sent 9 days after their second time "shippng soon" has not garnered a repy.  sigh.  I wonder if paypal can stop a payment the way a credit card company can.

When you paid with paypal, did you use a credit card or your bank account card? If you did with your bank card, I'd be calling the bank and find out what to do.

I've ordered from them.  Based on my experience, I would say their shipping tends to be a bit slow.  That said, I would consider them reputable and trustworthy and would order from them again.

Mr. Lipid, your post gives me hope!  i wish people/companies would just be more straight forward...if they are busy and know it will take 4 weeks, then saying so would alleviate the daily stress of waiting!  If I could I'd always order from amazon...their service is amazing.

I have ordered once from them, and it all went perfectly.

By the way, the owner frequently visits the ffc forumhttp://fourfatchicks.com/ubbthreads//ubbthreads.php?Cat= as "tss", where he is famous for his realy long posts.

[edit]
apparently I'm not allowed to name the title of this forum, therefore the link doesn't work either.
however it starts with 4 and its about chunky poultry

Deleted UserGameaholic -

can you please let us know how you get on with this one?

I'm in the UK too - and I'm thinking of ordering a lot of older games (chrissy pressies  for me
)
from them.
If there's any doubt - I'm not going to risk my hard scrounged cash!

I did get an e-mail saying the 'ground post' is very slow -
(I think we call that surface mail )-
and they use US airmail.

I used a Canadian site for some work wear - and it took 5 weeks to arrive - and that was airmail as far as I know.
I think Airmail parcels just take a very long time.

I ordered from them a few times over a year ago and had no problem. I have heard they've been very slow in shipping lately.

i haven't ordered from them but since i order lots of stuff from various companies (incl individuals from ebay) i have to say that a few might be a bit slow and a bit "silent"... also there is the slight (very slight) possibility of a package to get lost in the mail, which is not the sellers fault (only had that happen to me once in all the years i buy stuff from inet - since 1995)... when a company accepts paypal they usualy are trustworthy because if they scammed somebody paypal would have them cut off their services (assuming that somebody complained to paypal of course)

btw if you want speed (especially if you live in EU) PLAY.COM is the best... unfort they don't have a big variety of games (as opposed to dvds - they have them ALL + R1 too!) and the packages are not the best in the world (free shipping though
- something that SHOULD finally become the standard)

Hi all, thanks for the feedback!  I just got an email from them saying they'll look into it and re-ship if the package turns out to be lost.  I'll post an update when I know something. (I wonder if they saw my post and it prompted the reply?  hmm..)

I orderd KQ6from them (TSS) about a month ago, and also didn't got it. maybe that's because I live in Israel....

they look Relay able, but don't give you a straight answer. My e-mails got respond from "Rick (TSS)"
who sent me an answer pretty often.
He told me to give him my name andorder nummber (from the recipt), i did so.
He said that the item (KQ6) is currently out of their stock, and they need to wait a month for the next shipment. I guss i'l have to wait.
Oh, and on their site there is a white box of KQ6, and on the JAVE in this site i only saw a red, black and in
Brackets there is a blue one.
Does anyone has KQ6 in a white box?! I hope so, cause if not, it's probaly fake!!! :-[

Deleted UserHi Gamaholic,

If I had to guess I would say that you were right about the TSS people seeing your postings here at JA.  TSS is an active poster on at least one other forum and I suspect that they read at many.

I think that it speaks very well of them to contact you regarding your concerns and to be so responsible about game replacement if it is necessary.

TSS, if you are lurking here, welcome and please say hello to us.

Still waiting, but this does ease my mind a bit.  I imagine one customer who shares information with a large forum may have a little more importance than one lone cusomer...but I won't fret, with this time of year upon us, I realize that the postal service is quite overwhelmed.

Gamaholic- I hope you get your games. I have purposely avoided Software Society because of the number and nature of their negative reviews. If you look at their record you will see repeated complaints of either no delivery or extremely slow delivery. It's unfortunate because they often have some interesting games for sale. Buying thru Ebay has its own problems as opposed to retail sales; I've decided I won't buy from entities that get bad reviews for very slow delivery and do nothing to improve it.

I think the chances are you get the games, but it will likely take weeks.

The future ain't what it used to be!

SirDave, my mistake is that I ordered directly from their website...I didn't realize they are eBay sellers, where I always check the feedback...do you know their eBay seller name?

Well, I ordered the games about a week or more before Thanksgiving, I'd love to have them this year!

I think their reputation is that they are slow.

I ordered from them a few weeks back. After 3 weeks my games had not arrived. I emailed them a few times and eventually they emailed back saying the package had been returned to them in damaged condition and that they would send out another one. The replacement package arrived in about a week and they sent me a refund on one of the games that had been damaged and which was their last copy.

So from my experience alone I'd say they can be slow, but seem to be honest. But based on other peoples' experiences it seems they are often slow.

I expect you'll get your games eventually. As long as they weren't intended as Christmas gifts don't worry about them.

I've used them.  Been a while, though.  Things can and do change.

Hmmm - I suppose -
but it seemed to accept my order submission.
It's only the e-mails that are bouncing back. :-/

I can always call Visa to stop it I suppose.
