I'm back!..I was at the International Film Festival Rotterdam for the past 10 days where I saw 44 feature length films on the bigscreen. (18 of them were Asian)

Biggest surprises were Cidade de Deus (City of God) which is currently in limited release in the US.. Kopps (Sweden by Josef "Jalla Jalla" Fares), Il piu del giorno della mia vita (Italy), Etre et Avoir and Choses Secretes (both from France)

Festival top 10:

1. Cidade de Deus (Brasil) [City of God]
2. Il piu del giorno della mia vita (Italy) {Best Day of your Life]
3. Lilya-4-Ever (Sweden)
4. Etre et Avoir (France)
5. Oasis (South-Korea)
6. Choses Secretes (France) [Secret Things]
7. Dolls (Japan)
8. Kopps (Sweden) [Cops]/ Shaolin Soccer (Hong Kong) / Come Drink With Me (1966, Hong Kong)
9. Cinemania (USA, Germany)
10 Max (USA, Netherlands)
Also good: Dirty Pretty Things (UK), 24 Hour Party People (UK), Far From Heaven (USA), Marion Bridge (Canada)

The most fun was seeing Punch-Drunk Love with an introduction (and Q&A after the film) from Paul Thomas Anderson.. though I saw most films listed above with an introduction & Q&A from the filmmaker...
