Yep, this was about the reaction I was counting on [smiley=beer.gif]

And I'll tell you why.
I criticized Bunny because Dreamfall was listed as Best Action/Adventure game in the Polls, but it has now changed since they have reported the winners to Best Adventure game.
When I voted, the category distinctly said, Action/Adventure.
Now it says just Adventure.
I was under the impression that Gamespot had gotten rid of their Best Adventure game category altogether. At least they did during the polling for the "Best of" awards of 2006.
I wish they would make up their minds because apparently they have now put back in the "Adventure" category, rather than mashing Action and Adventure games together for these awards.
In the category of Action/Adventure, the only game you could remotely call an Adventure game in the list to pick from was Dreamfall.
That would make Dreamfall kind of a shoo-in for "Best Adventure Game of 2006", wouldn't it?
That's if there aren't any other Adventure (i.e., "non-Action" games besides Dreamfall in the running for "Best Action/Adventure Game of 2006"? And because all the other games in the "Action/Adventure" category were pretty much straight-up "Action" games?
Gamespot changed their tune. They polled the games under one category (the combined "Action/Adventure" moniker), and listed them as winners in another ("Adventure".
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Target has both Syberia games bundled for $10. I'm ready to play them again. Merry Christmas to me!

Entirely justified imo, looking back Dreamfall was by far the best adventure game of 2006!
I didn't think Dreamfall was all that great - it was okay...nothing special. [smiley=yawn.gif] But then again, I don't put a lot of stock into Gamespot - especially when they keep changing their website around - I can't even display the dang page properly on my PC!!!

[Best story, best adventure game and number 8 on the list of best pc games of 2006: http://goty.gamespy.com/2006/pc/index24.html Entirely justified imo, looking back Dreamfall was by far the best adventure game of 2006!
Dreamfall had the highest reviews of any Adventure game released this year and will win many more awards in addition to this one.
The fact that it won three awards - including best adventure game on the Xbox says alot!
Dreamfall was also my fav PC adventure game also!

Comparing it to games like BS4, Murder on the Orient Express, Paradise and Tunguska, it is vastly superior. Most adventure games this year had great graphics, often nice sounds, but were seriously lacking in story, good puzzles and gameplay.
True, Dreamfall was relatively simple puzzlewise, but the story is the best and the most original I have come across this year. That is most important for me in an adventure game.

The problem, IMHO, is that you can make an argument that Dreamfall was the best adventure game of the year (as long as you discount Sam & Max because it was just one episode in what will be a full game eventually), but it really wasn't all that good; it's just everything else was worse. For me, Dreamfall winning best adventure is just a sign of what a poor year for adventure games this was.

I suspect that 2007 will be more of the same - my bet is on Runaway 2 being next year's best adventure game.

I feel the same way. The year's truely big production adventure game. Looked lush and played very well. I was impressed with it's virtual world and story.
This review says it all:

Although Dreamfall's story hooked me enough to finish the game, I don't think it amounted to anything interesting in the end. It might be the best adventure game of 2006, but that just confirms that adventure games are really quite poor these days.

I've got that "Empire Strikes Back" feeling big time!
I'll replay the second before I play the third that's for sure!
