As you move, the carrot moves too.

Oh, we certainly don't live in the same country
..So, it's logical we have different perspective about world's future.

Good point - my country underwent a transition from a very bad regime to very imperfect but still much better regime, so people are more optimistic there. I guess Argentina is much worse off right now
The situation may never have been quite as bad in Argentina, but now it's probably getting worse or at least not improving. Whereas in the Czech Republic, things are definitely improving (sure people are b*tching and moaning, but they always will).

No, you aren't wrong. I am in California now. And that is in fact a direct consequence of things improving in the Czech Republic. No way I'd be here if commies still ruled there.

1)For a person you loved deeply, would you be willing to move to a distant country, knowing there would be little chance of seeing your friends & family again?
Yes.

2) If you could spend 1 year in perfect happiness but afterward would remember nothing of it, would you do so? If not, why?
No. For one thing, I don't believe in perfect happiness, and to live with a one year wide gap in my memory would surely terrify me.

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?
If there is a big change, which I doubt, it'll probably be for the worse.

4) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any 1 ability or quality, what would it be?
Better self-discipline.

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?
No.

6) Would you be willing to murder an innocent person,if it meant ending hunger in the world?
If one person's sacrifice was the only way of doing it, that person should be told, and choose for him/herself. Somebody else's life is not mine to end.

From the science prospactive, it will be much worse. More people on planet earth, more polution, more nonrecycled waste produced. The more intelligent people become, the more dangerous the world is. Scary how the brain works. Although there are steps that has been done but it'll never be enough.

No, if I couldn't remember it afterwards it's the same as it hasn't happened, and I'll die one year erlier.

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

Worse! Man is it's worse enermy.

4) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any 1 ability or quality, what would it be?

I'd be more creative (ppl tell me I alredy am but it's ot enough for me.)

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?

I have no enermies and if I had, hurting them wouldn't make them better.

1)For a person you loved deeply, would you be willing to move to a distant country, knowing there would be little chance of seeing your friends & family again?

No, Friends are as important than someone you realy love. If she loves me, she will come my way.
BTW: I like to go on holiday though, but I love my country as well so I will never leave it, if I don't have to.

2) If you could spend 1 year in perfect happiness but afterward would remember nothing of it, would you do so? If not, why?

Nice one: counter: What do I lose?

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

I think worse, but the people who will live over a 100 years will think that it's great place to be.

4) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any 1 ability or quality, what would it be?

Read my Avatar

In other words: I'm happy the way I am.

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?

Unreal Question, but I could think of one or two people to pinch them in their..........

6) Would you be willing to murder an innocent person,if it meant ending hunger in the world?

Unreal question, Sorry, no answer on this one, Bel38.

What if there was no hunger in the world?

1)For a person you loved deeply, would you be willing to move to a distant country, knowing there would be little chance of seeing your friends & family again?

Move to a different country - yes done that, but have been able to see family etc. again.   Wouldn't move if I could never see my family again in other words.

2) If you could spend 1 year in perfect happiness but afterward would remember nothing of it, would you do so? If not, why?

No of course not, where is the point?

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

I would have to disagree with everyone here, mainly because we have come so far in the last century.  People really didn't help each other much before then and certainly didn't seem to care about the environment.     Nowdays if there is an earthquake in Italy for example, most countries send food, clothing, money etc etc.   People can seek asylum in other countries from tyranny in their own.  We have organisations like Greenpeace and numerous others e.g. Save the Children Foundation, surely that gives us a hope for a more caring and compassionate world in the next hundred years?  O.K. we have global conflicts and religious and political persecution still but at least now we are aware of these things and rightly condem them.   In short I'm a bit of an optimist and believe that we can build a better world no matter what the war-mongers are trying to do to it.

4) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any 1 ability or quality, what would it be?

Gee that's a hard one!!  O.K. this is rather selfish perhaps but I would like to be a really wonderful pianist.  I know that's not exactly what you meant. Oh well.

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?

Don't tempt me!!

6) Would you be willing to murder an innocent person,if it meant ending hunger in the world?

No.

1)Yes

2)Absolutely! What do you have to lose (except for a year of memories... but you'll have 80 of those by the time you die anyway, so a loss of 1 isn't all that bad)

3)Better, as long as Bush's grandson isn't in power

4)I would be drop-dead sexy!

5) Yes. I wouldn't be hurting them, per se, but I'd do fun things like tickle the doll of my principal when he's trying to make a speech about student misconduct... entertaining things like that.

Also, in case I'm stuck on a Scabb island and this guy imposes an embargo and steals all my cash... I think a voodoo doll is called for

6) There's enough controversy over this question already. I won't add to it.

Been there, done that etc - 10 years in Egypt.

2) If you could spend 1 year in perfect happiness but afterward would remember nothing of it, would you do so? If not, why?

No - life is about wonderful memories - not living for the moment. What would be the point without memories?

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

no better and no worse. If History has taught us anything - it's that nothing really changes in fundamentals.

4) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any 1 ability or quality, what would it be?

To live in the 'now' - and not dwell on sad parts of the past - or be too busy planning the future to enjoy today.

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?

No.

6) Would you be willing to murder an innocent person,if it meant ending hunger in the world?

No.

Some of the reactions to question no. 6 are very interesting.
It's just a thought...it's unreal, of course, but you should try to answer as good as you can. If you avoid the question, it tells much about yourself as well as if you were actually responding something...

But what if the love of your life CAN'T leave their country?

I think the question is - if you love someone - are you willing to give up everything else for that love?

that has to be one of the hardest questions ever.... what would someone do in the name of love... i think that passion and spontaneity are always needed but there's a point where one should (if possible!
) put his/her mind at work when it comes to such serious questions... of course i shouldn't be the one to talk, since i've done pretty stupid things in the past, always in the name of love! :

and let's not forget: love is blind... and love deceives you

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

It's what makes life living - instead of just an existence.

I don't regret my time in Egypt at all - although I was homesick every day.....

totally agreed! and also (link to question 2!) it's what brings the greatest memories!

I guess the hard part is finding the balance between emotions and reason.

exactly... one is hardly ever capable of finding that balance (i know i haven't so far! :
)... it's either too much emotion, making you do stupid things, or too much reason, making it lose the magic

too many to list!

can't really answer that... possibly... when there's too much emotion you might end up thinking "if i used my head..."... if there's too much reason you could end up thinking "if i didn't use my head that much..."

hey maybe i will... won't post it though!

Reminds me of that scene from Mostly Harmless:

`This is, er, this your advice then, is it?' said Arthur, leafing
through them uncertainly.

`No,' said the old lady. `It's the story of my life. You see,
the quality of any advice anybody has to offer has to be judged
against the quality of life they actually lead. Now, as you look
through this document you'll see that I've underlined all the major
decisions I ever made to make them stand out. They're all indexed
and cross-referenced. See? All I can suggest is that if you take
decisions that are exactly opposite to the sort of decisions that
I've taken, then maybe you won't finish up at the end of your
life...' she paused, and filled her lungs for a good shout, `...
in a smelly old cave like this!'

Although I don't think anyone here is at the "smelly old cave" level of existence, at least I hope not!

I could never not have the chance of not seeing my kids and grandkids, I don't think I could. The word 'deeply' is a strong word used here......I think I would actually have to experience this before I could say.

2) If you could spend 1 year in perfect happiness but afterward would remember nothing of it, would you do so? If not, why?

Maybe...just to find out what perfect happiness is like.

3) Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

Worse

To be smarter.

5) If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you?

Yes.

No.
