| Deleted User | I can see a worrying pattern in the responses to my post: the fewer adventures people have played, the better they are at guessing adventures they have NOT played!! Will the tourney be won by someone who has never played an adventure in their entire life..? [smiley=devil_smiley_grintail.gif] Lady Kestrel, you have my complete admiration. Seriously. You have always done extremely well in previous tourneys too. I can't imagine how you manage it, you must have a very sharp eye and an analytical mind. And love Googling. My own strategy is simplicity itself: I look at the pic and if I don't hear a bell ringing straightaway, I decide I haven't played that game and don't send in any guesses. Needless to say, I'm more often wrong than not! Sometimes it bothers me so much that everybody except me recognizes a particular pic (Broken Sword 2, grrrr...) that I try my hand at research but I suck at it. Every once in a while it pays off though. I got Eye of the Kraken right because the bell in my head was ringing like mad and no name came up. So I went through my (incomplete) list of games-I-once-owned and waited for the penny to drop. If I keep my 15th place, I'll be a happy gamer. But this week is too hard for me. Go for it, Blount! I'm sure you can do it. |

AyaGrand Inquisitor![]() ![]() Posts : 7277 Joined: 16 OCT 2002 Status : Offline | well, she didn't do it after all! i was quite confident that scapeghost was smth that wouldn't give lady k any probs, but apparently it did (how can you guess dungeon quest but not scapeghost?!?)... regardless, lady k scores record pts in one week, excluding petunia's week 1 of course... that, combined with papa's shaky performance this week, brought her closer to 2nd place, and maybe even 1st place... papa is still in the game for 1st place, although it's gonna be tough... superedy calls the shots now, but with 2 weeks remaining 5 pts are not that hard to cover (maybe we'll need a tie breaker in the end!) the top 5 is almost certainly set now, since it will be very hard to kick adrian out... ziobeppe didn't play again, and now blount is just 1 pt away from entering the top 10... betje, who i can't believe missed zgi btw, climbs to 12th place, pushing wimli even further down (i seem to recall wim complaining about the lack of sierra games, but i don't see him live up to the expectations!) i consider week 12 a very hard week (but i'm not going to be surprised......!), so lots of things could change up there at the top, esp since there may be a few double-pointers which could stir things up You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. I had it down for an Egyptian bull, the pic looks so different, it didn't even ring a bell... : Apart from ZGI, I didn't do too badly: recognised all the games I've played. That's good, because week 12 looks daunting. |

ShanyGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 3313 Joined: 19 JUN 2003 Status : Online | I recognized the dragon from ZGI thanks to one of Mystery Manor's trivias. They had a dragon trivia some time ago, I remembered it because you couldn't find a screenshot of that dragon anywhere. I'm mad at myself for not guessing Wrath of the Gods. Somehow I just didn't think Aya will use it. I still looked for proof everywhere, and didn't guess despite the similarity in screenshots. I also think I could've gotten Dungeon Quest, but that screenshot looked so generic I didn't feel like doing a search. Week 12 looks really tough, and I'm wondering if some of the pics that look easy really are easy. |

AyaGrand Inquisitor![]() ![]() Posts : 7277 Joined: 16 OCT 2002 Status : Offline | right now agustin is probably the object of intense love and hate! papa should adore him, since he blocked superedy's doublepointer on altered destiny and kept papa in the 1st place pursuit, while shany would probably love to roast him over a slow fire since he blocked her 4pointer right at the last second (smth happening to her for the 2nd time!!!) of course superedy is in charge at the moment, but math is on papa's side... a bad week from superedy or a couple of good double pointers and papa could make the big upset! hard? damn straight! impossible? not really... math-wise even lady k still has hopes for 1st place, but that would need a really bad week from superedy... and lady k is the living proof of how just 1 bad week can mean the whole tourney! in the top 5, adrian's absence this week brought agustin closer to 5th place... also, ziobeppe's absence brought blount in the top 10, even though this week was his worst one... btw, does anyone remember the times when elfstone was standard 3rd place?! This time on a week where I really needed it (I didn't reconize most pictures... and no lucky searches either). Never thought I'd see a Pyjama Sam game on this tourney, and the only game I missed and could've guessed was Altered Destiny, but the colours looked different than most screenshots. |

I keep guessing the oldies though, which proves I'm waaay out of touch... Slightly Deranged - Cult Cinema And Games! |

No one under ziobeppe can pass me right now, unless doing a full sweep + some double points. I don´t think Ill get more points though. Anyway, my performance last week was a disaster, not only I only scored 2 points, but I knew (and didnt recognize) 5 out of the 8 other games, having played most of them. :-[ Week 12 was one of the hardest: SH:TA is too new, Pijama sam & number10 too unknown for me. Lady KestrelGuild Master![]() Posts : 4038 Joined: 27 SEP 2004 Location: US, NJ Status : Offline | Guilty Bastards is a completely new one for me, and I just didn't recognize the shots from Altered Destiny nor The Awakened, although that green cricket poster kept pushing at me all week. I did remember Aya using a PJ Sam game several tourneys ago which stumped me, so I've been on the lookout for one ever since. Then again, with the expertise of some participants like Lady K, papabrody and superedy, I guess it had to become more difficult, otherwise they'd all be tied on the first spot with maximum scores! Then again, I do keep missing some easier ones as well, even Sierra games that I should have guessed are now slipping by (you're absolutely right about that one Aya, it's no longer an excuse I can use after missing shots from Larry, Police Quest andSpace Quest! : ). Same for Sanitarium a few weeks back and Zork Grand Inquisitor last week. So I think the fact that I suck at this game more than ever before hasn't exactly helped me getting a higher score than the last tourneys. And to think I once was able to make it into the top 5. Good times, that! 8-) Oh well, I'm surprised I'm actually still as high as nr 13 at the moment! Curious to see whether I'll be able to get my way past Betje before the tournament is over. She didn't guess ZGI either, so she's not exactly performing at her best either. |

There's no denying, not recognizing ZGI was shameful, but I hit rock bottom when I missed Faust. Deleted my post about it, it hurt too much... but the fact remains that I played Faust last week.
