And now back to the regularly scheduled program. Here's another quote - a not very sci-fi book by a famous sci-fi author. Just finished reading it two days ago:

"The fire pit was about twenty-five feet long by ten feet wide, and perhaps two feet deep. The fire had been burning for hours. The bed of coals gave off a blast of heat almost unbearable even back where I was seated, fifteen feet from the side of the pit, in the second row of tourists."

Correct on all counts - now just for the benefit of others, could you please name the book and author?

It's never too late, dear Andromus... Go on and name the book and author, and credit will be all yours.  And post a new trivia after you answer this, I find yours to be really difficult...which I like, of course

 Michal: Before you start complaining
, I'm not saying your quotes are easy

Not joking at all. I have a hardback copy in my hand right now (OK, not right now, can't type with one hand). Published by Harmony Books in 2002, ISBN 1-4000-4508-8

It's "Job: A Comedy of Justice" by Robert Heinlein.

Well, Michal should... :

I wonder, would you accept quotes from not English or American books?  And more important, do you think you could know the books and authors?   ???

You know very well that it's right because you obviously have the book

Speaking of non-English quotes, here's one.
Too easy, but since the book was recently mentioned on the boards, I thought I'd throw this one out:

"Silflay hraka, u embleer rah..."

Looks like you know it! But for the record, I'll need a title and author.

Looks like Dom never bothered to finish the answer
 But here's a new quote:

"I woke up in bed with a man and a cat. The man was a stranger; the cat was not. [...]
I've shared beds with men before, and with women, and wet babies, and cats who demand most of the bed, and (once) with a barbershop quartet. But I do like to know with whom I am sleeping (just an old-fashioned girl, that's me). So I said to the cat, "Who is he? Do we know him?"
"No-o-o-o."
"Well, let's check." I put a hand on the man's shoulder, intending to shake him awake and then ask where we had met--or had we?
His shoulder was cold.
He was quite dead.
This is not a good way to start the day."

Rules are as usual - who's the author, what's the book's name. Bonus points (very easy) for the name of the cat

I forgot my sig.

Didn't really see the point as I'd started the other topic about the film of the book at the same time. I obviously knew it - I was saving it for someone else....

As for this one - I know it now, but that's because I cheated. I've never read it, so I won't pretend I have!

Good name for a cat, in any case.

Didn't seem to work

Yeah, and for a little dot too

I still haven't finished this book but it's pretty good. Great perspective on history. And I think in comparison to all other books I've read, this is the one that talks most about sex without being in any way pornographic. With the possible exception of The Hand-reared Boy by Brian Aldiss.

Just thought I'd try to come up with one:

Luke must have climbed down the creeper while David was asleep. He was not there in the morning, anyway, and David felt very flat without him. The morning was made no livelier by Cousin Ronald's refusal to let David near a radio. David wanted to hear the Test Match as much as Cousin Ronald, but Cousin Ronald, saying that any radio David went near became covered with compost, took all three radios with him into the study and shut the door in David's face.

I don't know how difficult this is. I want the author's name, the title of the book and the title of the newer book written inspired by this story.

Hum...let me try it....hope I'm not mistaken, considering at the moment I don't have the book in here and I'm not exactly sure if it's inteirly correct....

"Born in lust, turn to dust! Born in sin, come on in! Because that's what hell is all about....repetition!".

I'm looking for the name of the author, the name of the book and the name of the character!

The first part of that quote is from the demon in Stephen King's "Storm of the Century", but that was never a book.

Hum...like I said, I didn't have the book, although I thought that the line was the same in the book, which exists:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0965796930/qid=1120069594/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_ur_2/102-6625021-4729766?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

But what was the demon's name, by the way?

p.s the above link is the screenplay of the miniseries. There was never a novel it was written especially for TV.
