Sorry, but I don't understand ? We are talking about Myst, an adventure game which has tons of imagination

I didn't find it serene at all but very scary - in fact I was so freaked out I had a hard time concentrating on the puzzles - I felt so alone in that game with nobody to talk to, nothing to interact with and in all those eerie surroundings. I didn't enjoy it at all and couldn't wait to get it over with.

I didn't think Myst was either serene or scary, just mysterious. And I found plenty of things to interact with. Almost all the puzzles required me to interact with them to figure out how they worked. Myst was my first adventure game and I thought it was so cool how you could flip levers and click on valves to turn the water on etc.
One thing I don't like in games is lame characters. I'd much rather a game have no other characters at all than have lame characters that just get in the way and take up time with boring and badly acted conversation.

I didn't feel scared but somewhat lonely sometimes. Riven was my first adventure game, and while I loved it entirely, I was having a few doubts about it in the middle of my journey. I was hoping to come in contact with at least one Rivenese, but it turned out they were all scared of me. I'm a myst lover but feel like the game could of helped me feel more intrigued if there were more characters to interact with.

Don't misunderstand. I enjoy games where you interact with other characters as long as they're well written, well voiced, and the conversation topics are interesting. But if they're badly done I think they're worse than useless.
I'm playing Post Mortem right now and it's really weird. The characters' movements during conversations are so spastic. Even if the dialogs were perfect, which they're not, it would be distracting to watch those characters twitch around.

Not true. Myst had three characters. Whether you think they were interesting, well-acted characters or not, you shouldn't misrepresent the game by claiming there are none. I wish people wouldn't make broad, sweeping statements bashing Myst if they are wrong. You have to remember that in Myst, the action has already happened and you are discovering it after the fact. It is like being a detective in a murder mystery rather than participating in the murder.

I agree with you on that one. A good Myst clone is better than a bad Sierra-style game. This should be self-evident- aren't good games always better than bad ones?
Maybe the above comments are so insightful that there is nothing left to say about Myst and this topic will finally die. And maybe I will find a big bag of free money on my doorstep tomorrow morning.
