If some of you are interested in playing a text adventure for the first time, but the classics are too difficult for you, I suggest you try "The Dreamhold". It's a fairly easy IF game with a built-in tutorial.

I'm personally having a great time playing IFs in my smart phone during work!

I'll have to check it out; I'm going through one of my peroidic attempts to get into IF. A newer, easier game is probably the sort of thing I need. I keep trying the classics, because, well, they're classics, but I probably should accept they're too tough for me at this point and look to more games of this sort.

I played dozens of text adventures, starting from mid-80s and continued as late as mid-90s. I tried replaying some of my favorites last year, only to find out that I couldn't do anything! How I managed to play them during my early teens is a mystery to me. I guess we have become too depended on images.
Dreamhold is the game for you, it's not only easy, it's a combination between a game and a turorial with an extensive help system and hints.

Let me suggest a combination of new and not-so-new IF titles you might try:

-The Baron
-Necrotic Drift
- A Crimson Spring
- City of Secrets
- Narcolepsia
- LASH

If you get to play them let me know whether or not you liked them
