Blue Heat is a really cool FMV game from the the 90's.

I somehow doubt that the budgets used to create the FMV greats of old would even scratch the surface of what some development teams have these days. But as we know, adventures are now mostly done on a shoestring and a prayer
I've often thought it'd be a good idea for some of the FMV games to have a 'redux'. The video would have been shot at higher res than what ended up in the game and so if the source material was available, it could be reencoded to suit PCs of today. Time and money being a factor, I can't see that happening either

Ok! I know is much faster and cheaper build games without footages....but a question remains: And the fun?

When I first installed Southpeak's Temujin back in 1999 (it came out a couple of years earlier than that, I think), I didn't have the right audio codec setting for hearing the voices.
At the very beginning, I heard music and sound effects so I didn't realize I was missing anything until this lady in this museum comes up to me and starts talking. Well, I can't hear her, but she starts to get extremely agitated and mean-looking real quick. She was yelling at me towards the end of her tirade and I couldn't hear a word she said.
I had to reset the IMA audio codec to a different priority number and then I could hear her. But that was really weird, as Temujin was one of the first FMV Adventure games I ever played and I didn't know much about audio codecs then.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Status : Online | Well, FMV was a technical nightmare back in the day....digital video was in its infancy...why do you think all the original video clips in MYST were the size of a postage stamp? Because video stunk. For my game....I am going FMV for my characters....incorporated into the 3D environments....just because I like it and because I am not currently working for PIXAR and when you animate a human character WRONG....it wreaks the entire experience....Also, thanks to DV its been more standardized and can be done with ALOT of planning and most modern desktop machines. Will it turn out? The tests have been very effective so far....we'll see.......

*cough*
FMV, eh?

Yes, me too. I think it's a fresh new idea that just might bring back FMV. I have always felt FMV can be more realistic and fun than any 3D games. I think there are many actors have a love for games and would love to do a few scenes for them.

I really like fmv games, just finished phantasmagoria, which is such an easy adventure game, but is a very nice one to me,I just love the last chapter where you feel the tension all the way till the end.
I wish adventure game developers would hire actors to be part of a game,it's such a great way to play an interesting game with interesting characters, who have real emotions and expressions.
