See my other post. Let me know if you get to the guy. I want to know what I did wrong but I don't think I did. Only incomplete mission so far.
Hope you are not disappointed you have really been excited about this game. I am not disappointed at all.

I set it on Unreal and am enjoying a new graphics card, too - maxed out settings, YEAH! The old Radeon kept on playing up, huge driver problems that interfered with the computer, but since installing the Nvidia it's all cleared up. Fixed on a new PSU, too, which stops my computer from turning off randomly!
But, yeah! It's great! My only real dig is at the human animation, which in the light of NOLF2 and MOH really sucks.
Still, love the graphics! Game's good too!

here are my thoughts:
Average game.
However, the things that other developers should take away are: the ragDoll effect (absolutely perfect in a FPS. I spent 15 minutes just trying to kill myself from high places so that I could fall coolly), the reflection effects(later I noticed reflections off of metal pipes. They weren't mirrored relcections but change of light/gradient relfections), the chrome effects(in the Hell lab. Awesome.), the flamethrower(especially, ALT fire).
I was at first having lots of crashes. But then I tweaked the graphics so that I could still do 1024x768.; I just had to turn shadows almost all of the way down. Shadows are cool but they hog a system...
The game overall is very average but it has the things I mentioned above that are very innovative to the genre.  evelopers need to use those above elements so that Unreal II will get its tribute where it deserves...

| Deleted User | I dunno, I'm loving it!
The V.O.'s are pretty duff, but OK, and the enemy AI is almost too good on the Unreal setting. I won't play it on normal or easy, as I breeze through these things far too quickly and need a challenge. Those Skaarj are pretty tough, love the way they block weapons fire with their claws.
Some nice use of cinematics, I like the team element in the second level. I could do with less of seeing the ship land/takeoff though, it's very boring and the ship designs are pretty crass.
It's a good FPS, very straightforward, requires a ton of hardware to work properly. But it's worth it for the first time you meet that creature on the elevator - roll on Doom III!
BTW - The new card I had to buy (my Radeon screwed up Windows for the last time) affected my random computer crashes even more, so I ended up having to get a new PSU. Turn's out my old computer supplier wasn't particularly trustworthy... But the game's still a hog. On a TI4600 it still slows down, even with medium settings on a fresh install of windows.

What part are you talking about RedGayle? I am on the first mission in the desert...

I have two more artifact missions. These planets are amazing.
I bet both of you are playing on Hard and I am dragging along on Normal and dying a ton of times but I can't get better if I don't at least try.

I'll tell you one thing...the level Excavation is radder than hell...Just awesome alien setting...
Also, I thought that the ending was quite better than normal FPS endings...

| Deleted User | Stooge - you been playing on Unreal setting? If so, you're one tough-ass gamesplayer...
I love those spider things. The jump animation is great, and I have no problems with the robot suits. Shame the dodge is a leap, which is odd, and that the human anim is still bad. What happened to gesturing whilst talking?!
The little details are great - walking past that giant sleeping thing at the ice station... very slowly... All the snow coming down, and the fact you can see the rest of the station in full 3D in the distance!
And the guy on the ship smoking- his cigarette actually burns and drops ash! WTF! I am SOOO easily impressed. I just feel sorry for the folks who won't play it 'cos it's action orientated and those environments are awesome!

It is awesome.  id you notice their little pilot has a very faint face inside his helmet?
After I clean out an area, I just move my mouse all over, up and down to see everything and soak it in.
They gesture a bit every once in a while, move a hand to the side and such.
You mentioned the cigarette. Morrowind is the same, the candles flicker and the flame moves, lanterns sway, etc.. Both games, a banner will sway in the air outside and inside as if there was air conditioning moving them.
What I am going to like when I finish is that I can pick a mission again and go back and play it once more.
One more artifact to go, am in the middle of that mission. Might finish today but going to the movies so not sure.
There is sure to be an addon, right?

| Deleted User | I hope so! Just want it to be bigger than Spearhead. Now that was a good add-on, but too short... I'm trying to kill those bloody women-things. Proving to be verry difficult.
What about that creature-planet, eh? Stunning! If a little disgusting...

I love the game. I had to get over the fact that it was not like the first one which is probably a good thing. How about the graphics for the people who did this game. Sometimes I don't press ESC and just look at it in awe.
It is taking me longer because of other things and also because I wander all over the scenes, especially outside to see what is there.
As I recall, Half-Life's addon was short, but that was a long time ago.

Status : Online | Well, finally finished. Other things pulled me away and I just looked and looked under every leaf, and Draak World, I just wandered and stared. even watched the green fluid go through the various veins.
The part building up to the end (Avalon) was quite a twist to the usual 'getting to the big ending' and the ending mission was fantastic, loved it and the ending cut scene made me sad, wanting to keep going with the game.
I will let it rest for a while as I am going with Morrowind after a few more minor quests I need to finish up and then will once again visit the past and visit the future.
Don't care the reviews say, I had a great time!!!!!
There better be an addon!

Well, Splinter Cell still set for release on the 18th, I would think that if it was going to be pushed back it would have been by now.
Problem with playing a game and liking it as much as I did is the void after you are done. Takes a while to get an attitude change to play something else.
