Is it my imagination or has this story been done as a movie (on the Sci-Fi channel) before?
Anyone know?

Is that not made by the company that makes (bad) re-makes of older films (like the House on Haunted Hill and 13 Ghosts)? If so then probably.

In fact I'm fairly certain the whole "Haunted Ship" thing has been done to death in the past. Can't think of any of them off the top of my head though - except perhaps Event Horizon (OK, it was in a space ship but it was still a ship

Well, call me a total optimist, but I thought 13 Ghosts had some really good moments, and I could see the potential of the director in House On Haunted Hill.  I didn't know he is also behind Ghost Ship.  I guess I just have a soft spot for horror flicks.

I also saw The Ring 2 weeks ago in a sneak preview, and I was fairly impressed.  Much like 13 Ghosts, I thought it had some pretty tense moments in it.  Thumbs up!

I *Think* It's made by the same people. Not sure.

Was that the original japanese version of The Ring or the american remake? The original was a pretty good low budget creeper. The first sequel goes a bit odd but it's still pretty good.

-- ah, just noticed you said "sneak preview" , that probably means the new american version right?

Yes, I meant the American version.  Sorry for the confusion.  I'd recommend checking it out, although everyone's tastes for what's good/bad are different of course.

It's also the title of a 19th Century English novel which I'm sure they filmed.  Wilkie Collins I think?

Wilkie Collins wrote some pretty cool stories. One was called "The Moon Stone" (I think, I didn't read it in English) and it's a really unique mystery novel.
I forgot my sig.
