I just want to warn people
although i'm sure most have realsed) that there are games on e bay whose origins are most suspicious. When you see games such as the new De Vinci and the new safecracker starting at 99p (Brand New?) you start to wonder. After looking at the feedback of some of these sellers it seems people have been sent disks that do not always work, with no case and  no manual. These games can take a couple of weeks to arrive and in some cases have come from Malaysia. In one case the seller says he is located in the UK but it seems his games aren't. We all know that this sort of thing goes on but now seems to be happening openly. Our Adventure game industry seems to be struggling as it is ,with lots of developers going and this sort of thing will only hasten its demise :-?

One of the best ways to know if the guy your thinking of buying or bidding from is actually good is to check the guy's feedback for positive replies of the seller.  I always do this to insure I don't get burned or whatever.

However, a lot of people buying warez *know* they are buying warez and do not care, so people selling burned copies on CDRs for 0.99 often have high feedback.

Use your common sense.

If a game is new and the price is REALLY low, especially if the seller has multiple copies, it's almost certainly a pirate.

Another sign - is there a picture? A picture of the *actual* item, not a mockup of some screenshots mashed together or a box shot clearly taken off amazon.com?

ebay doesnt pay much attention to piracy reports unless they are filed by authorised agents of the company being ripped off, and they have to be filed by fax, which is a pain for indie developers who may not have fax machines.

Not have a fax machine? What kind of amateurish outfit is this? You can turn any computer into a fax machine with fax software even if you don't have a machine. We used to do this where I worked many years ago, plugged the phone line into a modem and set up a fax program. Saved on paper, too!

*shrug* don't look at me, my printer came with fax built in, but most people don't NEED to send faxes very often and simply aren't set up to do it!
