It is called First Day in Sweden and you can download the trial version of episode 1 and the instructions' manual HERE. The full version costs 10 Euros ($12) and can be bought within the game by a Credit Card or a Paypal Account. The Exchange Student is an interactive sitcom featuring backgrounds from ex-Lucasarts & ex-Sierra artist Bill Eaken (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Leisure Suit Larry 3, The Dig, The Secret of Monkey Island, Curse of Monkey Island, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance) and animations by Dave Rigley (24 and a Half webcomic www.24andahalf.com). It is a point and click adventure game that will appeal to those who enjoy TV cartoon shows like Johnny Bravo, games like Leisure Suit Larry and TV sitcoms like Friends, That 70s Show and Married with Children. You control Emilio Carboni, a 22 y.o. Italian student who has never had a girlfriend in his entire life. His friend Vincenzo just came back from an exchange program in Sweden. Vincenzo was really satisfied with the program since he met many attractive ladies during his stay in Sweden. Emilio decides to follow his friend's path. He travels to Sweden to spend a semester there, studying in a city of Sweden called Västerås. Fate however is not that kind with our 'hero'. In the first episode of The Exchange Student, our Italian Casanova is tired of being neglected by the Italian girls and so he decides to go on an exchange studying program to Sweden. His parents are not happy with his choice but Emilio is determined that at the age of 22 he is now ready to take his first big step towards adventure and love! The game blends classic adventure gameplay into the casual game format, making the pace of progress faster and simpler so that the gamer can practically be entertained even if he/she only has a little time to devote into gaming. Featuring a simple point and click interface The Exchange Student requires a minimal learning curve making the game appropriate for both hardcore and casual gamers. At the same time however, the developers have seen to it so that the level of interactivity remains high throughout the game and that The Exchange Student is not just a click-through experience. Episode 2: The Point Game is coming out in October 2006. For more information visit the official website. It's a shame that the backgrounds look very static (for example that desk is screaming out for a manic goldfish in a bowl!) Unfortunately, I have little to no time for playing games these days, but I will gladly support this effort; if anything, I know my fiancee will love it. Please keep us informed. | Deleted User | Looks like an interesting game with a promising story. However... How long does it take to get through one episode? Does each episode has a cliffhanger or does it feature a stand alone story? If the game is not successful will the series come to an ending or just quit somewhere in the middle of the story? (I'm still waiting for Shenmue 3, you know...) Will there be a possibility to wait till the full series is released and get them in one package sort of like one real game? Isn't 10 Euro a bit expensive for one part? I mean the graphics is more on handheld console / mobile phone game standard and getting all episodes will make the game much more expensive than a full price PC title? Hmm that would be it for now... ^^ |

dimidimidimiSchattenjger![]() Posts : 1784 Joined: 10 OCT 2002 Status : Online | Hello Alkis. Thank you for your support. I hope that your girlfriend (and you when you find some time) likes the game Ogre, How long does it take to get through one episode? The first episode is shorter than we would have liked it to be. The average play time is 2 hours. An experienced adventure gamer who does not look at everything and tries to finish the game as soon as possible might finish it in 1 hour, an inexperienced gamer might finish this in 3 or 4 hours. We plan to increase the length of the game to 5-6 hours for future episodes. We plan to add more content per episode and to make future episodes more challenging than the first (but the puzzles will always have logical solutions). Does each episode has a cliffhanger or does it feature a stand alone story? Some episodes will feature cliffhangers, some episodes won't. Apparently, as it happens with all episodic mediums (whether TV or games) those who have played the series from episode 01 will be able to get a better grasp of what's going on. If the game is not successful will the series come to an ending or just quit somewhere in the middle of the story? (I'm still waiting for Shenmue 3, you know...) The game will be succesful and it will come to an ending. Will there be a possibility to wait till the full series is released and get them in one package sort of like one real game? There are currently no plans to release the game in a boxed format, but we do not rule out the possibility that this might happen in the future. Isn't 10 Euro a bit expensive for one part? I mean the graphics is more on handheld console / mobile phone game standard and getting all episodes will make the game much more expensive than a full price PC title? I don't personally agree with your handheld console/mobile phone comment. I never understood why everything in PC gaming has to be 3D. I mean they even made simpsons in 3D. How come TV shows can be in 2D but when it comes to games 2D is dead. Yes we were creating this game for mobile phones initially but we started over when we made the PC version and we recreated all backgrounds and characters so that they would be appropriate for a PC version. Anyway, just my humble opinion. If you compare the price tag with the price of adventure games made in the 80s/90s (you would get 20 to 30 hours of gameplay for $40) then yes our game's price is steep. But, this is not the norm anymore. Adventure games cost 40 to 50 euros here in Europe for 6 to 10 hours of gameplay (Syberia, Longest Journey 2, latest Broken Swords etc). Our game is distributed online and tries to attract also the audience of casual games, people that buy games like tetris, bejeweled and inspector parker online for prices starting at $19,99. Those games usually have no voice overs and don't have too many animations, which make them much cheaper to produce than The Exchange Student - and we hired professional actors and artists which made the development even more expensive. We chose the lowest price range for games that are available exclusively online. The first episode was a bit shorter than what we plan to have for future episodes due to the many initial expenses we had (copy protection system, new engine, porting licenses etc) but when in the future you will play episodes spanning 5 to 6 hours of gameplay I think the 10 euros price tag is very cheap when compared to Syberia 1 that was sold for 50 euros here in europe and some people were able to finish it in 7 hours. Furthermore big publishers who distribute their games in retail apparently have a bigger audience than independent developers whose only channel of distribution is the internet. So basically this is one of the cheapest games in the online market. I hope I have answered your questions. Lots of clarity and depth for 2D there. Colors that just scream at you. The voice-acting is "just right" funny, also. Not "too-too". Good job with that. ...and Vincenzo has the teensiest legs and littlest feet I've ever seen on an otherwise nice-looking student kid. I mean, look at Vincenzo's feet, then look at Emilio's...dang! alkis21Schattenjger![]() ![]() Posts : 2112 Joined: 23 OCT 2002 Location: GR Status : Offline | The way I see it, the game is a CARTOON. Cartoons are supposed to be in 2D and the colors are supposed to be very bright, anything else just doesn't look right to me (Simon 3D, Monkey Island 4, Wanted). The high point of the game as I saw it was the voice acting, which I adored. I have plenty of Italian friends who speak English and the accents of the characters brought a smile to my face several times. As Mark said, it feels just right, not exaggerated at all. I also felt right at home with the interface. I have a question; I read in the instructions that you can only play the game on the computer you will use to make the payment. Is there no way to come around this? My fiancee's PC is not connected to the internet and I'd really prefer to install it there, but the only way I can transfer the money is through my own PC. Also 2D can be rich in detail. Granted, your game is cartoon style and so less fits. Adventure games cost 40 to 50 euros here in Europe for 6 to 10 hours of gameplay (Syberia, Longest Journey 2, latest Broken Swords etc) Hehe, it took me a "tiny little longer" to finish those games. the audience of casual games, people that buy games like tetris, bejeweled and inspector parker online for prices starting at $19,99. Yeah I agree, I still wonder why people pay for the 10th tetris clone, though since there a gazillions of freeware versions of those casual games. Hmm I guess it also depends on the country, I know and heard that a lot of people here buy mobile phone games but practically no one indy games for PC in other countries it might be different. I hope I have answered your questions. Yeah, you did and thank you for doing so in such detail! Anyways I really hope this works out for you! |

So if you want to buy the game for a computer that has no internet connection, this is what you should do: Download this application called Baby Serial. You have to copy it on the PC that you want to play the game on. Run it, enter the email address where you want us to send you the serial number and click on "Generate". When you do that the app will display a url string. Now you can copy this url string and use it on a computer that is connected to the internet. Best way i could think of is to save it in a txt file and transfer this txt file to a computer that is connected to the internet. When you enter this url in your browser you will be moved to a paypal gateway where you can buy the serial for the computer that you used when you run the Baby Serial application. I hope this helps. But she's certainly a very capable player (Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis took her 4 days). She liked it, and we'll buy the next episodes keeping Dimitris' promise in mind that they will be considerably longer. Do you like classic adventure games? Check out Diamonds in the Rough! |
