Oz is lucky to have imports like you and Bazza. Gives the country a much needed aura of class and dignity.
Well...maybe just you, Caroline.

His dad moved the family to Australia when Mel was a young boy because he did not want Mel's older brothers to get drafted to fight in Vietnam.
But Crowe is all yours.

Today, the Los Angeles Times (the incident occurred in the general LA basin area) had two articles that highlighted the premise that people tend to spew out some of their true core feelings when they are drunk. His image will probably never totally recover from one night's stupid behaviour!

The future ain't what it used to be!

However, money men are pragmatists. If they think they can use him to make money, they will do.
But did you get a look at that ghastly beard the press photo had him wearing? Urgh!

You could hardly call shane Warne a wanker..... I mean, when would he find the time? The man does have a game to play in between shagging those 1000 women.... :

His image will probably never totally recover from one night's stupid behaviour! He will not fully recover, I'm guessing (though I've heard it said that Hollywood and it's audience has short memories for something like this--it's not like a Fatty Arbuckle conspiracy or anything).
But I got'a push back on that whole "true core feelings" thing. I've definitely said a few things drunk that I totally don't believe. A couple of months back, I called a friend of mine a racist, a very stupid thing, and for no good reason.
I believe there can be reasons for you to drunkenly say one thing to one person that you actually meant to be projecting elsewhere, and that you misassociated because... you were drunk! Alcohol loosens more than your tongue (and I don't mean just your STOOL in the morning... heh, heh).
That said, if he really said some of those things about Jews being responsible for all of the wars in the world... I can't explain that.

It still makes me furious the way he was gunned down. We lost a jewel and we get to keep the scumbags...... there is no justice in this world. >
You left off Fred Hollows.
Sorry. I can't admire Ned Kelly. He was an outlaw.
Australia has better icons - how about the explorers? the early settlers? our ground-breaking scientists?
And let's not forget Hugh Jackman. [smiley=love.gif]

maybe that's because i'd never heard of the guy? and anyway, i never said that these people made up ALL of my favourite aussies...
so what if he was an outlaw? i mean, i'm one to... as are countless other australians these days (god bless sedition)!
so what if you think that there's better australians than ned kelly? because i mean, i never claimed that he was one of the best in the first place...
in my opinion, hugh jackman is nothing much but a corporate shill. foxtel digital THIS... and foxtel digital THAT! hey hugh, why don't you just fox off?

Yes, that would be the adorable, gorgeous and totally loveable Heath Ledger. Not to forget of course that he is also a very fine actor. Haven't seen Casanova yet. Is it any good? He also was in Brokeback Mountain (also starring Jake Gyllenhaal, another actor fitting in the category of being both cute and being a fantastic actor), Lords of Dogtown, The Brothers Grimm, The Four Feathers and A Knight's Tale. Oh, and he simply out-acted fellow Aussie Mel Gibson in The Patriot. 8-)

That's what I was really getting at. When drunk, people will call people names and the like, but Mel's anti-Jewish diatribe seemed well beyond that- at least, that's what I think is the take of a lot of people in the world of public opinion!

I'm sure if we knew how much influence and money the special interest groups exerted on our governments we wouldn't sleep at nights.

Apart from that, I actually enjoy watching programs that explain all the behind-the-scenes alliances and secret dealings. The only concern I always have is 'what have they edited out, what have they decided not to tell me because it weakens the case they're presenting?'. There's always that nagging feeling that I'm not being told the whole story.
