Dirk - First or third-person games, do you have a preference? Cathy listed a bunch of 3rd person games.

Dirk - If you liked Return to Mysterious Island, then Voyage might be to your liking. Same developer, same interface with lots of inventory. Echo also comes to mind.

For third person PC adventure games, you might also like 1997's Blade Runner from Westwood Studios and Virgin Interactive. 1999's Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned from Sierra OnLine might also fill the bill.
For first person, I second The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time by Presto Studios and Red Orb Entertainment from 1998. It does have some serious sound issues with WinXP though. So if you still have a copy of Win98 SE on a separate hard drive petition or an older backup machine, that would be the best way to play these older titles.
Cheers, Terry

Actually I also played PQ1, 2 & 4. but just found PQ3 to be the best of the series. With multiple endings, not sure if you can remember but I recently re-played the game and finished it with Mary to be out of coma So it really was possible, for years I thought whatever you tried didnt work out for her to get better.
PQ4 was also nice, more detective like and I didn't really note there was much paper work which hold the game up or something. Played it with a lot of fun till the very end , even now I could just start all over and play again. Games are fun, like PQ3 and others with alternative endings which you can play more than once!
Thanks so far for everyones recommendations, I would definitely look into this games and read the story lines.
Still Life I did play , but haven't finished it. I have something with adventures, when I play them within half an hour I'm either stuck with the story and loving it or know it's not as good as I expect it to be.
The adventures I've mentioned took my interest as of the very beginning. Whileas Still Life I found the characters not that much fun, maybe also because of the time line it took place and you got all those flashbacks to play and see. Also I can remember there was a lot of dialogue, but sorry it's already some time ago I tried that game.
At least after playing an hour or 2 , I didn't found it joyable to play it to the very end.
I'll come back soon to this topic to see if there are new replies, thanks very much for your help so far. I'm really glad I finally found a place where I can find people having the same interest in adventure games!
Dirk.

At least after playing an hour or 2, I didn't found it enjoyable to play to the very end. Dirk, you have summed up exactly why I didn't enjoy Still Life either. Although I did finish it, I couldn't understand why so many people raved about it. I sent it to someone in Belgium from this Forum that wanted to play it.
It wasn't the "Laser/Robot" puzzle near the (nebulous) end. At least that was "something to do". And with "something to do", I don't mean spending hours on a picklock puzzle (that was also included).
It ran beautifully, looked great, etc., but my heart wasn't in the game. I didn't enjoy the characters either. I only found the section that went back in time to be any fun.
What is wrong with me? Why do I not like the modern Third Person Adventures as much as I used to?
I admit to always having had a preference for First Person Adventures but darn it, Sanitarium and Gabriel Knight 3 are two of my most favorite games ever. I also loved Blade Runner and Beneath A Steel Sky. To a somewhat lesser degree, likewise for Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series. I even finished (and enjoyed) the 3rd-Person Cryo game no one seem to like, Odyssey: Search for Ulysses.
I didn't want to play Uru: Complete Chronicles, but I found it cheap and popped it in. I found the switching back and forth between 1st and 3rd Person to not be a major hassle and was pleasantly surprised at how much I really did enjoy it. Uru ran and looked like a dream. Silly at times, but oh - the gameworlds were stunning.
I really liked Sentinel's Schizm influence in the gameworlds and the puzzles (beautiful puzzles), but I grimaced whenever What's-Her-Face popped in unannounced. I just wanted her to hurry up and get lost so I could get back to exploring.
I didn't really enjoy The Longest Journey or Syberia 1 & 2 much, either. I did enjoy Amerzone.
I'm worried it just might be me, but sometimes I think the "modern", higher-spec Adventure games have lost a lot of charm of the older ones - no matter how fantastic they may seem at first.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Echo and Voyage are they already released or maybe only yet in US? I tried to search for them on www.amazon.co.uk, no success yet.

Yes Blade Runner is a nice game to, forgot to mention it. It's been a while ago I played it. I can remember I end the game together with that girl you find half way somewhere. I remember vaguely.
You had different end-games and the gun-practise sessions where nicely done too.
I also started Paradise, it started off nice but now I'm walking in town speaking to some people and I'm already a bit bored with it.. maybe if I play it some more, but don't know for some reason it doesn't attract my attention and it's likely I won't play this game to it's end too.
Fahrenheit was more than excellent game too, it's more shooting / adventure but sure also is in my list of favorite games.
But for the moment I'm really seeking for those (same-type) excellent games I mentioned in my original post.
Dirk.

Anyway, based on the other games in the list, you could say I made an educated guess. Being right or wrong as an outcome has nothing to do with it.
