: Secrets of the Luxor? Under A Killing Moon?
Some older adventure games will not work at all under WinXP no matter how much tinkering you do (eg. Amber-as pointed out by Ivinia- and Secrets of the Luxor). Others may load with tinkering, but do not 'work' because the sound and/or video is jerky and also, cutscenes, may either be jerky or not present at all (eg. Under A Killing Moon). Others load effortlessly.
@gameplayer:
I have The Forgotten as part of my collection, but have never played it having been turned off by reviews that (probably due to its being the first of a seven-part series that never continued) indicate that some inventory objects can't be used for anything and, according to one reviewer, some puzzles can't be solved.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Status : Online | I've played the game on Windows 95, 98, and XP. The game tended to crash two or three times while playing it through, but this was no worse with Windows XP than with either of the other two systems.
The only problem with this game is that it is only the first of what was anticipated to be a seven-game series; as was mentioned above, the last six games never materialized. Why they were cancelled I have no idea as the first game was a good starter, and I would like to have finished the story.
And while there are inventory items that you don't use, I was able to complete all the puzzles in the game.
If you haven't played it yet, do so by all means; its an enjoyable game if you understand it limitations from the start and just enjoy it for what it is.

Just started and finished it today (XP - no crashes, worked fine-selected "no" at install Quicktime prompt). It must have taken me all of 2 hours (at the most). Strange that it was released as a full game since it’s so short.
Interesting premise & I liked the Spoiler AlertAnastasia/Romanoff angle.
I found a funny bug while playing. When I took the lampshades off, I never put them back on and so everywhere I went the lampshades stayed up on the screen as if I was wearing them like a drunk. LOL. They’d go away at times until I zoomed close again. I finally decided I should go back and put them on the floor lamp where I took them – and then everything was back to normal. Ha ha. Funny little bug

Once in a game I had a bug in it too, I moved away from the roaring fire place and the fire followed me around the room talk frustrating to get rid of it. It is almost like these games had some spiritual help going on. [smiley=cool.gif]

Status : Offline | It was a good game and I was looking forword to the next one too. There was a lot of find the key in it but I figured the next one would be different. The story was there and sounded to me like it had great posibilities.
