Superb. Particularly the outdoor snow scenes.

There's snow in Syberia I?

I thought that would something I have to look forward to in Syberia II.

Since it is getting very hot already in Georgia, I will gladly welcome some cooling white snow and glaciers in Syberia II.

Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

There are so many realistic details in the graphics for Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. 8-)

Syberia II will certainly cool you off Mark, if the mines in Komkolzgrad don't.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!!!

About the story: the game is based on the book by the same name that was written by Strugatski brothers (famous russian writers) in 1970! The game might look like Syberia, but the story is certanly not inspired by Sokal or anyone else in game industry

This was interesting to read about the Strugatski brothers.
Under the official Soviet ideology much of the Strugatskis' works were written in code to avoid censorship.

The Strugatskis became best-known as Soviet science fiction writers...

However, the Strugatski brothers gradually moved in the direction of social satire which brought them into conflict with the censors.
This makes me very curious to see your storyline.

Seeing winter scenery in a game is always a plus for me.

Hmm, wonder how that might compare to A roadside picnic? Loved that book.

The graphics have some Syberia-esqueness around them, though I don't really mind, it looks great all the same. Having the same art-style doesn't mean they borrowed heavily. Lots of media feature the same themes as old media. It's the end-product that counts, not the 'amount of borrowing'.

Anyone read this book? Would love to hear some more about it (without giving too much away of course) to get a clearer idea what this game will be about.

I must disagree. Any amount of borrowing should be avoided. How about originality. Surele a large factor in deciding to play a game.

But I can live with the fact that some things might inspire gameproducers. But to blatantly copy (borrowing is way too soft) is something completely different.

It begins as your standart detective story: several people come on vocation to a little hotel, deep in mountains. But after some time one of them is murdered. The main hero, police inspector Glebski, who also came on vocation, begins his investigation. Later on he'll find out that this is not just your ordinary murder..
Everything is focused around the hotel, so there's hardly any reason for a long journey
The settings are more of "And then there were none", actually, though the story is different..
