Looked interesting.

Believe me, despite being mainly an action title it has THE BEST story I've ever seen in a computer game, BAR NONE. Sure, it's clichéd, but it plays like a dream, looks amazing and the cinematics inbetween keep you going on and on until the amazing end sequence.
Buy, and live it. Dare you!

Graphics are fantastic and what I have seen, a good story line. Will probably have no problems with the shooting and such but have a heck of a problem driving the car in the first chase.

Status : Online | YESYESYES get it...I got this game on spur-of-the-moment over the summer. I knew all about the game and saw previews for it but when I went to EB to look for Adventures I found that it had just come in that day. I looked at it and remembered all of the previews about the game. PLus it was only 35, and it was going to go up to 45 the next day. I bought it....and played it.
I have to say, since I never wrote a review, that Mafia ties with HalfLife or Deus Ex for best action of all time. This game kicks MaxPayne in the floopin ass... I loved this game. The ambience is spectacular...I loved driving around listening to 30s jazz and shootin out tires....excellent game in all respects. You CAN'T pass this game for $20. Most people marked the game down because of how much driving you have to do. PLus since the cars are slow people hated that too...but it's the freaking 1940s, the cars were slow. Other people marked the game down because of the Race level. Yes, it was a little tedious, but I stuck to it and beat it in a couple tries. One level is no reason to reprimand a flawless game. Others marked the game because of the lack of the multiplayer patch. It is true that this game was supposed to have MP and many people bought the game thinking that there was MP. I was a little bummed but I was purely satisfied with an excellent singleplayer...
If you love the GODFATHER, GOODFELLAS, etc....you will cherish this [s]movie[/s] game. See the game is so much like those movies that I actually tried to say movie. Playing this game is like reenacting those movies. Spetacular. Especially your first shootout. Goddamn, it's stroke enducing...get the damn game...and you don't listen to me...I...I...ummm....will...fart in your eye...

I was irritated at the lack of in-mission save (when will game designers LEARN?), and I just got tired of having to beat those thugs to death over and over and over.
Also, I thought the racing sequence was SHOCKINGLY hard, expecially considering it was REQUIRED. I felt no guilt about cheating on that one.
However, it's a fantastic looking game with an undeniably good story.  oes it pick up after mission 5?

Does anybody know if this game Mafia resembles anything with Gangsters? I bought this game really cheap to put up for trade but I'm sooo tempted to play it.
I didn't even care to search for a demo but now that you are all talking... why not?

Here's another Mafia link for you:

Just look at those screenshots!!

| Deleted User | Mafia just RULES! I have to agree, the car chase sequence is really hard. I found that if you successfully ram the yellow car off the first corner without impeding yourself you can have a go at winning quite easily. If either the yellow or (red? can't remember) cars get past you it's impossible to win.
Keep at it though! What amazes me is that the story AND acting is so strong throughout. It's very mature and there's even a sex scene! I'd say it's better that 80% of adventures out there when it comes to writing. The entire docks sequence and chase beforehand is genius - let alone the church shootout...
Ragnar could learn alot from the cinematics in it, too - sort of quality we'd like to see in TLJ2, methinks!

Status : Online | I recently finished this game and I must say Mafia is great, with awesome graphics and one oft the best storylines I have ever encountered in a game. The bad point is, the game often gets frustratingly difficult (not just in the damn car race), merely because you just can't save when you want to save. You would repeat scenes/whole maps again and again and again... I was so often close to throwing my equip out of the window because it got me so upset. I am glad though I finished it. When I look back at it, It's just... like I said, great and very special.

There's also a collection of vintage cars that you could browse through. I do think this game is amazing!

I forgot my sig.
