Hey guys,

I've started a new project, actually two new projects but I don't know which one to continue. I began turning both "The Moment of Silence" and "Beyond Good and Evil" into movies by capturing the in-game footage and editing it like a movie. I've made the first chapter of both movies and I've posted them online.
I can only continue making one of the movies so I will give you the first chapter to watch and you tell me your opinion. Which movie would you like made?

Here are the links:

The Moment of Silence:

Beyond Good and Evil:

Thanks Guys!

ok, i must say i kinda liked this in the sense that i find it entertaining an pretty well worked, BUT 1. for someone who does not know the game, it is doesen't really make any sense
                                                                                                                                          2. what isa the goal? except making the games some publicity.

This is actually something that I hoped some game companies would do - that after you finish a game you get the option to view it like a movie.

I would have loved if something like that was done with Grim Fandango, Gabriel Knight 2 or The Longest Journey.
Games that have such great characters and stories that you want to go back to, but don't have the patience to go through all the dialogues and puzzles.

Rauli, I'd love to watch both those movies, but since TMOS is still fresh in my memory, I'd prefer BGnE (since even if I ever decide to play it, there's no chance I'd be able to finish it. Haven't these people heard of cheats?)

yeah, that's an interesting point of view . i never thought of that. But if you want to do this, innoculate this idea in the producer's head, then you would need something like, a little army of "game movie" makers. Also, you would need acces to more than just the material given by the game.

Ok, now regarding your question for this topic... i would DEFINETYLY go for The Moment of silence. I dunno how it is constructed in the game, but how you present it it looks like  a vrey tensionate thriller-adventure. You really got me interested with it

Hey guys,

First of all, I have to thank you guys for taking your time to download the movies, watch them, and reply to me. Really appreciate it.

Shany - The game that I most wanted to turn into a movie was The Longest Journey, but considering how long the movie would turn out to be because of its lengthy conversation I had to drop the idea. Grim Fandango is a good idea though.

David_QuestDome - I know the movies I posted may not make sense so far, but I made sure the stories would be fully understandable throughout all the chapters. And as for the purpose, I thought that it would be entertaining and also for the fans of the games (such as myself hehe) it is cool to watch those characters that you already made friends with without having to install the game and play out the thing all over. But truly, I don't know why hehe, I guess I just think it is kinda of interesting.

Personally, I wanna go for "The Moment of Silence" since it is such a thriller, but conserning the number of long conversations I thought that it could get kinda boring, but what the hell, The Godfather movie was mostly conversations in dark rooms and it is still one of the best movies ever. As for "Beyond Good and Evil", I thought that it would turn out much cooler than "The Moment of Silence" since it wouldn't have many conversations, but actually, "Beyond Good and Evil" has so many side-quests, which some can't be cut because of the storyline, that the movie began to lose focus on the plot.

I will continue making "The Moment of Silence" (sorry Shady... but you will like it too hehe) because I think it will turn out more entertaining. I already have the second chapter done and the movie planned out.

If you guys found it interesting, here is a movie of the game Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy that I made. I actually posted a topic for this movie on this forum, I've had a lot people download it but unfortuantely none of them gave some feedback, that's ok though.

Thanks again guys! I would love to hear from you again!

Btw, what you guys said about getting the game producers to make game movies, that would be a great idea. I actually know a guy who makes movies also, he was really the one who inspired me to make mine. I told him about it and he said that's a posibility but we would need more people in order to do that.

This friend of mine made a movie out of Full Throttle which turned out great. Here are the links to it if you guys to watch it.

Here is 486MB file of the movie:

And this is a 64MB file of the movie, but I guess it has lower quality video (I watched the one with the bigger size file):

It's nice to see people taking the time to make these movies.

I also saw someone who made a movie of the game "Anachronox", I think it won an award for something (probably editing).

The problem with getting game producers to make these movies is that it is alot of work for something that not everyone will be interested in, and will probably take another game CD to store it on (unless they find a way to show an edited game without storing it as a different file).

Rauli: I'd like to see a Moment of Silence movie, and see how you edit it. The only problem is that the whole game is still fresh in my memory so I might wait a while before watching the movie.
Something interesting about Moment of Silence is that there are alot of optional conversations, so watching the movie I'll probably get to see conversations that I missed.

Also, thank you for the download links, I might download them if I ever understand how BitTorrent works. Although I wonder about copywrite issues...

Shany - Don't worry about the freshness of the game in your memory, it's going to take me a while to finish hehe.
Shany, BitComet is a great torrent sharing software if you wish. It can be downloaded for free at their official website www.bitcomet.com

The Moment of Silence Movie is taking progress guys. I think it will take me about 3 to 4 months to finish it though. Chapter 02 is looking nice.

It is absolutely fantastic! I cannot believe how fantastic Full Throtle game-movie is. I played the game and enjoyed it alot but never thought you could make such a cinematic approach using only in-game footage. loved it
