Status : Online | Hitting Your Peak: Physical Attractiveness
By Ryan Murphy Askmen.com Lifestyle Commentator
We here at AskMen.com receive many questions from our readers concerning sex, physical health, financial status, and mental growth. In order to answer and expand upon these questions, we've produced a four-part series that will outline at what point in a man's life he can expect to be at his strongest, or at his "peak," in each of four areas -- physical attractiveness, financial strength, mental agility, and physical health. We hope our readers will find this series practical, informative and enlightening. This week's article examines when a man reaches the peak of his physical attractiveness.
According to an old joke, the difference between men and bonds is that bonds eventually mature. While it may be true that our minds sometimes stay locked in a state of perpetual adolescence, our bodies are constantly changing throughout our lives. The good news is if you stay around long enough you'll eventually hit your peak of physical attractiveness, a time in your life when you'll look, and quite possibly feel, your very best.
In an ideal world this golden time would be full of perks: Men would envy you, women would notice you and female undergarments will be thrown aggressively at your feet. But when will this time come, and has it already passed you by? Let's take a closer look by plotting out precisely when your body begins to let you down.
Gray Hair
Gray hair needn't be a cause for concern. After all, Steve Martin and George Clooney are still getting just as many phone numbers as when their follicles were jet black. However, if you're worried that a little frost around your temples will spell an end to your attractiveness, here's what you need to know: The color in your hair comes from pigment-producing cells in the skin known as melanocytes.
As you age, the density of melanocytes plummets precariously, dropping between 10% to 20% every 10 years beginning around your 30th birthday. Even if you don't start looking like the man from Glad by that age, gray hair will eventually start creeping in. In fact, according to statistics, you have only a 50-50 chance of retaining your original hair color by the time you're 50 years old. You can't prevent graying, but fortunately you can invest in a little Grecian formula, that is if you're not already as bald as a cue ball. Speaking of which...
Hair Loss
Hair today, gone tomorrow is the lament of millions of men across America. Ultimately, the odds of having your hair come out in clumps depends largely upon genetics. Roughly 50% of children with a balding parent will inherit the baldness gene. That means that if your father's scalp is completely exposed you stand a remarkably good chance of having a chrome dome yourself.
Hair loss for most men begins at age 20. Much like the post office, it then takes an extended break only to come back a few years later. By age 35 to 40, over 66% of Caucasian men are visibly balding. Fortunately, bald is now beautiful thanks to celebrities like Michael Jordan, Telly Savalas and Bruce Willis. If, however, you absolutely insist on hanging onto your follicles, you also can opt for hair plugs or even sprayable hair in a can. The good news is they'll make you feel more confident, the bad news is even a blind man will be able to detect them from five blocks away.

Men are at their most attractive when;
they are being kind they are being intelligent they are being polite they are being patient they are being physical and when they are being playful when they are being tactful when they could win at something but don't when they talk about their tender feelings when they laugh at absurdities when they show wisdom and self awareness when they ask for directions
not forgetting when they know how to fix the fuse when they're not afraid of the spider when they clean the oven/fix the car/clean the gutters/unblock the loo when they actually do know the way and you don't when they take your hand in a crowd so you don't get lost when they do something you can't or don't want to do when they help someone, anyone
and especially when they look like Hugh Jackman, Alan Rickman, Sean Connery, Orlando Bloom, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Johnny Depp and a host of others I don't have time to name.

For the most part, true on the face of it, but unfortunately, many woman don't make those characteristics a priority when choosing a man when they're younger (ie. in their twenties). In other words, on average, IMO, it takes a mature woman to recognize the true values of a good man. Too often, younger woman are attracted to & go after the good-looking bad boys!

The future ain't what it used to be!

Being in my mid-twenties, should I be offended, or glad that I'm "mature"?
Never mind the 'boys' that only go after skinny little pretty things. :

Be glad you're 'mature'. However, perhaps, to be more accurate, I should have said 'early twenties' because I think a transition to common sense tends to occur in the mid-twenties. But you tell me- do you notice the syndrome I speak of?

Well, yeah, but the subject at hand was male attractiveness.

Different females make the transition from being girls to being women at different ages, the same as many male children remain boys a looooooong time after they're fully grown. While others become mature men at a fairly early age. Just depends on the individual person, the circimstances and the path their life takes.
Often when a major, unforseen event, generally a hardship, occurs that thrusts a lot of extra responsibility onto a person early in life, it tends to accelerate the natural process of maturation. Of course some people shun that responsibility but many have no choice but to accept it. When they do, the change is usually quite sudden and dramatic.
Under normal circumstances, one day they are carefree kids who have nothing more important to worry about than homework or maybe an after school job and the next day they have to help support themselves and their family or in all to many cases fend for themselves entirely.
If they can manage to do so without falling into a life of crime or other common problems, most turn out to be very solid adults who are better prepared to take on even greater responibilities later on. They also tend to be pragmatic simply because they were exposed to the harsh realities of life at an extraordinarilly early age. If they're smart and have the right kind of personality, they make great leaders too.
Cheers, Terry

Although younger girls/women often go for the pampered, good-looking bad boys, one thing seems to be consistent (at least to me): girls in their mid-late twenties on up tend to be consistently attracted to males who are considerate, self-confident, self-supporting, reasonably well-educated & successful, and carry themselves with a general can-do attitude even if they aren't the best-looking (though being at least pleasant-looking helps ).

A galleon! [smiley=shocked.gif]......
What kind of pirate are you!
With a galleon you will not last a month on the high seas.......
You will be easy to catch and blown up by the King's Royal Navy......
You want either a schooner, a galley or a briganteen!
http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/lennon/897/ships.html#
I would go for a briganteen. More guns for a fight, and plenty of room for loot, and hoarding lovely wenches!
Plus good speed to run from the man-o-wars.
A galleon if it is fully loaded would be too sluggish. Unless you had a small one!
But if speed is what you want......A schooner is the king of the seas!
or maybe I could be wrong!
