Status : Offline | My goodness you've all had fun while I've been asleep. I've burned an hour just reading this thread. Very funny and lots of wise insights too.
MichalN, if we were all smart, who'd drive the garbage trucks in this world, or sit infront of machinery all day long, just watching it.....? As you said later, what matters is personality and kindness, not intelligence - although stupid people can create mayhem while meaning well.
Dimistris, I believe your theory about different types of intelligence. Athlete's brains are obviously better at that type of thinking than the rest of us mortals. I could never play netball because one had to catch the ball, and know instantly who the best placed team member was to send it to. I did Badminton instead.
As for real IQ tests, they usually take at least 2 hours and involve lots and lots of timed questions. Like only having 10, 15, or 20 seconds to get an answer before moving on to the next one. There is not going back. No pondering time. You brain aches at the end.
Last one I took was mainly aimed at men and was heavily into maths. I scored 137.  wished I'd had a few more seconds on a lot of the maths ones.)
Today, on this test I got 133.
I took 20 minutes and was disappointed it was over so quickly. They're fun. And have you noticed how the results all say wonderfully flattering things about you with the promise of even more if you purchase the entire package? Codswallop. It's a sales pitch. Nice to have one's ego stroked though, even if it is just from a computer data base.
So I'm a Word Warrior. This means you have exceptional verbal skills. You can easily make sense of complex issues and take an unusually creative approach to solving problems. Your strengths also make you a visionary. Even without trying you're able to come up with lots of new and creative ideas.
Yes, think I may just print that and frame it for the next time I get hopelessly stuck in an adventure game.
By the way the 'old english sayings' weren't any that I was familiar with. sorry to disappoint you. They were based on linguist logic.
for example. even the most tempting rose has thorns. The idea being that a rose is a woman. Yes, literary association, but NOT an old well-known proverb.
I reckoned it was kangaroo because of the method of walking, not to mention the reproductive differences.
Godfather Taking it a second time nullifies the results, sorry. the idea of these tests is surprise.
So now I have to take the emotional test.

Just done their premium super IQ test and only scored 117. So here's the nice comment they gave me this time.
Caroline, your Super IQ score is 117
Your overall intelligence quotient is the result of a scientifically-tested formula based on how many questions you answered correctly. But it's only part of what we learned about you from your answers on the test. We also determined the way you process information.
The way you think about things makes you an Analytic Detective. This means you are an unusually talented problem-solver. You are able to think through a process step-by-step, and know how to zero in on anything that is even remotely illogical. Compared to others you are very adept at discerning numerical patterns and solving difficult equations.
How did we determine that your thinking style is that of an Analytic Detective? When we examined your test results further, we analyzed how you scored on 8 dimensions of intelligence: spatial, organizational, abstract reasoning, logical, mechanical, verbal, visual and numerical. The 3 dimensions you scored highest on combine to make you an Analytic Detective. Only 6 out of 1,000 people have this rare combination of abilities.
See? I always knew I was [s]odd[/s], er..[s]different[/s], er....special

I've done the sexual one. Got 7. wonder if that's out of 100?
But the 'what would Freud say?' test Hmmm ... they just blew it I'm afraid. They suggest that I'm overly-tidy. Not on your life. Their computer should see my house! LOL
must turn this machine off and go do something with my Monday.

I just took the test and this is what I got: Congratulations, Catharine! Your IQ score is 142
According to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Visionary Philosopher.
This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.
"Like Plato..." That seems just a little bit thick! Must be trying to flatter us.
Still adventuring after all these years!
Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...

| Deleted User | I got 136, right in the same range as most of you. I've always heard though, that a true IQ can't be measured in an adult, because age is so important. I've also heard that there are supposedly 7 types of intelligence, some of which are not even touched on this kind of test. Creativity, notably is very difficult to test for. There is literacy, spacial perception, logic and reasoning, math, creativity, ? adaptability (the ability to shift gears midstream, without losing your grasp), recognition - though this may be related to adaptability, and memory recall of related circumstances. It doesn't surprise me that most of the forum members have high IQ's - we prefer games that can be solved with intellect, rather than brute force. If ya ain't got the smarts, ya gonna get mighty frustrated with adventure games.

IQ is a test score, intelligence is a concept.
There are many Multiple-Intelligencies theories. Personally, I don't think it useful to call for instance creativity or musical talent a form of "intelligence", like some psychologists do. Very confusing.
The scores on this particular so-called intelligence test are inflated because of the lack of time constraints and the far too low number of questions. I'd go even further: The reliability and validity of this silly test must approach zero. But of course the questions are similar to those used in real IQ tests, so it will confirm what you already know about the areas that you're good in. Which gives people the false idea that it must be a fairly good test.

We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

I just tested myself on iqtest.com, it was timed and it took me 17 minutes, I think I would have known 4 more questions if I was American, and I got penalty for being too slow. This is gonna be some crappy result I though, so I checked my mail.
It wasn't so bad.
I'm sure you'll all get higher results on this test though.

I do want to say that they seem to force you to sign up for a paid test, but I opted out of that. Above is what was in my email.

| Deleted User | I just tried this thing and it said my IQ was 131. Has anyone here had less than 100??? (That took it seriously and didn't get any errors that is.) I think there were too few questions to give a good estimate. Besides, you start to recognize the types after a while. If IQ calculation is as simple as collecting answers like this, I don't think it says that much. For instance, I took a course in logics last year, so it's not exactly a challenge to figure out that if A is B and B is C then A has to be C. There were two questions like that. Also, it's a bit misleading to take a test that is not in your native language. I know I'm good with words, still the test told me I was better with the math/pattern thing, like figuring out number series or picture patterns. I don't know if this is the accurate picture of my intelligence.
The best intelligence test I've ever taken was when I was tested for military service. It took something like 40 minutes and contained LOTS of questions. They wouldn't give me an IQ score, but I got 9 out of 10 on their own scale, so I was pretty proud about it. Then again, many smart people I know didn't bother to take it seriously and got something like a 3, so I don't know what to compare with.
I had a friend though that was not too good in school or appeared extraordinarily smart, but he took a Mensa test and got scores well above the application limit, so it's not always easy to tell from people...

I have taken the test twice at a psychologist's office, in different periods of my life, and I scored 144 and 142, so these things are more accurate than most think. I noticed that some non-native English speakers got more than 130 points in this test.. pretty damn impressive. You guys should try taking the test in your native language. I just checked it out and I have to say that this is hardly a real IQ test. Real ones have a time limit.

Anyway took the plunge and had a go. Afraid I only scored 124 "Word Warrior". Not up to the standard of most of you by any manner of means.
Oh well, maybe there'll be another and if there is I'll make darn sure that the phone is off the hook and the cat is shut out of the study - talk about interruptions with phone calls and cat yeowling for food!
Think it's a bit of a shame that they want you to pay to get you full results though - wouldn't have minded knowing which were correct. The thing that was a bit frustrating was that there were a couple of maths questions that I know that I should have known - if you "know" what I mean - and I know I would have got them wrong! :
