there are a few people i know who delight in the console platform but have never heard of, or have no interest in, the adventure genre...
i do not mind standing alone... in fact, i revel in it !
in a world that askes so much of us, time alone can be a rareity... when i set down in front of my computer to game, it is my time... my time to be alone... in another world... my quiet time that i choose not to share...

Playing an adventure gives me the same feeling of reading a book: sharing my feelings about it would surely be interesting, but not indispensable. Anyway, it's quite hard to find people who appreciate this genre as much as I do (being this the reason that brings me in this forum daily since I've discovered it). Nevertheless, some weeks ago I found out that a good friend of mine, with whom I shared a completely different kind of passion(i.e.:following our football team all around Italy), turned out to be an experienced adventure-gamer. Tell you what: talking all day long with someone who knew what I was talking about gave me a strange and unexpected sensation. Next step: initiate him to JA+, obviously...

Never really met anyone there except one employee in the lobby who gave me a hardcopy color brochure of Myst 3 that I requested two years ago. It's not like I'm stalking them or anything, is it? No really I'm alone in adventures but have nice memories of those two game series and of Obsidian and others too. It's true though above about Presto Studios, except I don't hang out there on a regular basis, like I don't follow them around and stuff. )

Actually I think that adventure games should be enjoyed alone...(without a walktrough ,of course )
Don't ask me for a hand !!

He's tried Myst and Exile, found them pretty difficult, and is a little unsure about what to try next. Come to think of it, I should refer him to some of the games from that recent thread that listed recommended games for new adventurers.

I have one friend that, just a fraction, likes Adventures. I have two other friends that like them, but they would rather get them for free from me rather than buy them. My sister liked listening to me read the descriptions in the Rose Tattoo over Christmas break. Maybe she'll start liking them but I don't think she'll start playing one by herself.
This is what the games were meant for...single person experiences discussed in larger groups. Kind of like a grievance group...

My old Manager, Assistant Manager, and on of my fellow employee all liked adventure games. My Assistant Manger really loved them. I still go in and see her some times and we talk about them.
But I never meet a lot of customers who played adventure games.

a very close friend of mine plays advs too but we rarely get together to play, i mostly play by myself... we have played a few though, as well as a couple of 3d arcade advs (and a lot of tekken 3 too!)... i also know another person who plays a lot of advs but i've never played one with him... and i also know alkis21 but we only play Kick Off 2 when we get together!
and i would gladly play advs with a gf, if i could find one that likes them! : the closest i got to playing games with a gf once was playing Tekken 3!!! and we both played Nina!

When people ask me what I like to do, I always mention that I like to play computer games. Sometimes I'm shy about it (b/c I'm shy about everything), but other times, I mention it like it's no different than watching TV or sleeping in.  Which I also like to do.)

Status : Online | Hi all, I have a couple of friends and a family member who play adventure games. I don't discuss strategy or play adventure games with my friends, but we occasionally talk about games we like.
In online forums (here and others) I talk about adventure games. Aside from the general forum chit-chat, I now have some email friends who talk about adventure games with me, and other stuff. It's always nice to make new friends.
I know some people who play games together, but not really together, with one or two email friends. You play your game alone, at about the same time your other email game friends are playing (same week is fine, not same exact time!). Then, you compare notes, observations and hints. I haven't done that myself, I'm an intermittent gamer, and I use walkthroughs. However, for the right sort of person, it seems like a very positive experience. I might try it one day, but my normal gameplaying style doesn't really support it.
All for now,
Regards, mszv

Status : Online | Nice topic !
I am pretty lonesome when it comes to playing adventure games !
Well, not just regarding adventure gaming :-/ but that is another story
My older brother and I discovered the world of adventure games together (back in 1987, Maniac Mansion ). But he never was into it as I was/are !
I think the last adventure game he played from beginning to end was Indiana Jones - Last crusade and he never played Sierra Adventures.
If he plays video games at all, then football/soccer games, Pirates ! (well, he used to play it) and GTA (sometimes when he is visiting me).
One of my best friends is a FANATIC GAMBLER , he plays ANYTHING (card games, board games, darts, billiard, basketball & soccer ...) He plays video games as often as possible additionally.
I remember that he, when he got his first computer, got some games as well.
Three of them have been adventure games:
- The 7th Guest - Indiana Jones - Fate of Atlantis (talkie version :-* ) - Kings Quest V (talkie version)
We played The 7th Guest together.
I borrowed the other two from him, because most of the time we played soccer manager/simulation games and Jump N Runs (on SNES) when we met.
The last adventure game we experienced as a team was Larry VI , which was fun
Nowadays he (almost) only plays sport simulations (NFL, NHL, ISS) !
Another friend of mine, a Fantasy enthusiast (he reads Pratchett, Goodkind, Brooks ...) , used to play adventure games from time to time.
He completed Broken Sword on his own (i gave him some tips )
But he was not patient enough to complete many adventure games (and become a "true" adventure gamer" ) .
E.g. He started Curse of Monkey Island but he asked me to "play it for him" because I already had completed it. He watched me playing most of the time
The best teamwork experience (concerning adventure games) I had, was playing vital parts of Grim Fandango with this friend.
Though we played it seperated, we helped each other out if one of us got stuck ... But I remember we finished it together, which was
Then he started playing games like Diablo 1&2 (yarn : ) Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Clanbase) & Need for Speed 4 via internet. At least he played Mafia recently (which is too demanding for my system, so I had a chance to play the one or another chapter)
Since then (and most of the time before) I am/was a Adventure Loner , and I LIKE it the way it is
Now I am exhausted and have to take a break
Was du nicht willst, daß man dir tut,&&das fueg auch keinem andren zu !&&&& o not do to others, what you do not want done to yourself !

The only other person I have heard of is my co-workers son. When I asked her what kind of games he played, she sounded just like me trying to explain about adventure games! I immediatley asked for his hand in marriage for either myself or my daughter (I've always sworn to marry a fellow AGer one day, quit my job, and sit in front of the PC all day together...now THAT'S romance! *sigh*) Unfortunately, he's only 14, but that's okay, we can wait!
My name is Bethany and I'm the daughter of Gamergal/Michelle.

They all say that adventure games are boring because there's no social interaction!!
They cant seem to understand that the best experience is gained from playing alone - like reading a book!
