Hi all,
There would probably be a lot of games if I didn't sometimes use walkthroughs.   Sometimes I'm in the middle of a game, and I want to know what happened, but I don't want to continue playing a game - I'm done with the game, even if the game is not done with me! So, I use a walkthrough.  I don't have a time limit on finishing a game, it can take me years.

Lighthouse is a game I so looked forward to playing, but now I can't seen to finish it.  Maybe because it's running so badly on my newish machine, and the graphics seem so dated now.   I don't even know if it will run in XP, it was running so slowly and awkwardly when I had WinME installed.

I'm impressed anyone could play "I have no mouth and I must scream" - it just seems so depressing.  I'm not into depressing games.

Regards, mszv

^^^^ i dont really want to be depresed but at least it moves me away from anything i have ever played before and the whole "shoot at something or be shot at" crap that is pushed down my throat.

Mystery of the Druids first of all... i'm so close to the end and yet it has bored me so much i left it there! i also left (bored to death) AITD4 very close to the end but it's not an adv (although your topic says Games!
)

also left halfway thru:
Jack Orlando
Hitchcock

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

First I read this topic name and cringed. And then I read the replies and cringed. Not because anybody said anything wrong, but I got SO many games to finish or to play eventually, I'm embarrassed...
For instance, I get spanked on a regular basis over at AG-forum for never playing GF, even though I own a copy of it... The latest game I bought but never seem to get any time to play is Post Mortem. *sigh* I'm hopeless...  :

edit// Oops! My shame for all the unfinished titles, made me skip a word or two in the title... *giggles* Of course, the "can't be bothered" part eluded me hence the state of my reply! There are a few games I couldn't be bothered finishing, Frankenstein - Through the eyes of a monster for instance. The walking in that maze like surrounding bored me to death, quite frankly.

Sorry again, to lay my prob's on your unsuspecting shoulders, LOL! ///edit

x3,  Geez, I thought I was the only who hadn't finished Mystery of the Nataluis.  For about 2 minutes each time I tried to play the game, I felt a twinge of guilt,
only a slight twinge.

Final Cut will never be finished.  Adventurewise I think that is about it.

For me, it would have to be SPQR. I've started it about 6 times now. I really like the setting, but get the feeling they recreated the Forum as a project, and added the "game" later....

1. Arthurs Knights:  I finished the Christian storyline, and then said to myself, "I can take the Pagan storyline now, and it'll be like a whole new game!
o I want to do that?"  The answer, of course, was "...Nah..."

2. Frankenstein:  Through the Eyes of the Monster:  This game is actually pretty funny, but it's not supposed to be.  This is maybe the only game I've ever played that has given me the opportunity to watch my character's vomit stand up and walk across the room.  This moment in the game was supposed to be horrifying and scary, but actually it just caused me to laugh so hard I almost fell out of my chair.  The  ultra-hammy voice acting by my guy just made it that much better.  Nevertheless, despite the giggles this game gave me, I don't see myself finishing it ever.  I don't believe I'll ever even start "Mummy:  Tomb of the Pharaoh" which is the game that came with Frankenstein.

In Cold Blood, Nightlong & The Ward.

Except for these three games I normaly dont quit a game. The Ward was extreeemly booring and I only played about 1/3. The other two lasted for 2/3 of the game before I pulled myself together and sold them without hesitation.

But for those of you who liked them, well as I always say the "taste is like your bottom, divided"

So far the only game which I can't ever be bothered to finish (as opposed to maybe I'll finish it someday) is Unreal.

I used to feel guilty about buying (or trading) a game and then not finishing it.  But no more.  Not finsihed and will not be include The Mystery of the Druids, The Final Cut, The Ward, and possibly, In Cold Blood.

For me, there is no such thing as an unfinishable game ... in theory. There are games that I have put aside for long time, but I usually plan to get back to them. Right now, the closest game that fits that description for me right now is Temujin.

(I'm a  little apprehensive about how many times The Ward has come up -- I have it sitting on my "To be played" shelf, and now I think it can wait.)

Hey all,

Good question - I was interested to read the answers to this question, it makes you think twice about starting one of those mentioned games, doesn't it?

I try and finish every adventure game I start unless I really hate it - it's the same with novels - I always wonder if it's going to redeem itself suddenly, so I dutifully slog on.......

Anyway, back to topic....
I never finished:

Realms of the Haunting (just got too hard - although I'm tempted to go back and try again... eventually... maybe
)

Albion (hated it within ten minutes, but that's one way to discover you don't enjoy RPGs.)

Martian Gothic Unification (just awful  :'( )

Dune (hmmm... what?....oh sorry, I dozed off...)

There are probably more, but as I said I try and finish everything I start. Come to think of it, most of them aren't adventures.
Ah, well. Expect all of the above on ebay soon.

Someone will want to kill me here!

Grim Fandango - just couldn't make the thing (Manny or whatever his name was) move around properly, so ended up giving it my son - after reading how most people love it, I'll get it back from him one day - maybe!!

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine - still in my machine but I'll have to be really bored and desperate to bother with it again.

I won't toss any games, so I could theoretically return to these games that bored me, but perhaps not this lifetime (unless the adventure game well truly dries up, and that will not happen, right?):

Loch Ness
Mystery of the Nautilus
The Watchmaker
Schizm (more the nausea factor than boredom)

That which makes one happy is not a waste of time
