Status : Online | No payment. Unless the guide/walkthrough is really really pretty and I absolutely must have it. Which hasn't happened so far, because there is no such thing for adventure games. However, guides for Nintendo games back then were pretty cool. I had one for Super Mario Bros 3 although I didn't even have a NES! My cousin had this game and we played it a lot together.

Guide books with lots of pictures and helpful information you really can't get in just a text file might be worth paying a bit for. But just a walkthrough, no.
(But then, as previously mentioned, if the style of game defies walkthroughs, I probably just won't be playing.)

Status : Online | Why would I pay for a walkthrough when I already payed for the game? I think a walkthrough you have to pay for will only annoy people - 'not only am I stuck in the game, I have to pay to get through that point!'.
Unless the game is very open ended and offers lots of extras that will juystify getting a custom walkthrough, then I'm doubtful anyone would but it.

Status : Online | If an adventure game has all the proper hints in the game then a walk through isn't something you need. A good adventure game has hints and clues in all the right places including puzzles and mazes and find inventory items. If a walkthrough has a lot of great pictures and was an addition to the game then I might concider buying it for a couple bucks but not for the fact it would be a walkthrough.

A bit of background about the game, designer notes, information on the voice actors, where all the easter eggs are, and of course, etc. He sells them for $7.99 or you can bundle it with the game and save a bit. Not sure how many he sold, but he did sell some.
You might want to ask him.

They included things like Easter Eggs and a few other things besides just the walkthrough part. And buying them was a way to support the developer, which I'm more inclined to do with independently produced games than with commercial games.
