Status : Online | Hey Sandy! I saw your thread, decided to give this game another chance. I am not much of a fan of first person games, but I do love inventory based puzzle games.
Anyway, I started it up last night, and made it past my previous stuck point several months ago, and found I was having a good ole time, especially when I met up with Jeb.
I do wish they would have included cutscenes instead of the storybook drawings, because the intro was really nice.

The chemicals were just trial and error. I love the island, wish i were there!!!

As for the drawings, I loved them. I've had my fill of lifeless 3D androids from recent adventure games (*cough* Aura *cough*), and the artwork in RTMI was a much appreciated reprieve. I wish more games would employ the lost art of ... well, art.

| Deleted User | I loved it. The drawings are okay with me, and it can't be because the games old (2004)--it's just a stylistic choice, I reckon.

A lot of developers release concept art during the early stages of game development to generate some excitement, but then you never see it again. I find that the concept art is often better looking than the 3D renderings. It's a matter of aethetic taste, I suppose, but I don't think the sharp, computer generated images are anywhere near as artful as the movements of a pen or paintbrush in a skilled hand.

Aesthetically, I thought the sketches also worked quite well as an "underpinning" to the movement of the story.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Using line drawings instead of cut scenes cut down on the size of the game (might have needed an additional CD otherwise to accomodate the space required by cut scenes) and no doubt reduced the cost of production considerably. Would you have wanted to pay $10 more for the same game with cut scenes instead of line drawings? I don't think it would have been worth it.

Status : Online | I just finished playing Return to Mysterious Island tonite. Gosh, the credits with pics of Mina were so cool! Just imagine if there had been other characters in the game or cutscenes instead of sketches.
But some much of game was just gorgeous. The French really know how to make a game visually stunning.

So watch out, if I hate the game I'm going to be coming after all of you with my little hatchet to chop off your heads!

I also loved it so~~~~ much! I had replayed it many many times (how many? Too many to remember ) ......For the highest & lowest scores I thought you maybe like the other game——VOYAGE, because it's similar to RtMI, and I loved it more then RtMI.

@jdpv48 But those robots are part of the story and they make sense in the context.
