Status : Online | I usually find the figthing system in survival horror games more stressfull than fun, most of the times. I'd love to follow the story and feel the atmosphere of each game at my own pace, without having to count how much ammo I was able to save (something that is commom in most survival horrors I've played) and without waiting for my health to reach 10% before using a medkit (cause I'm afraid there won't be more medkits untill much later).
For example, fighting the ghosts with the camera was not particurlarly fun at FFrame 2, IMO. They kept disappering and taking loooong time to reappear, I would usually get bored of waiting, lower my defenses, and then the ghost would get me no doubt... In RECode Veronica, I had trouble with the aim and would usually waste 2 shots before hitting something.
I've suddenly got the feeling that I get so frustrated with these games because I always choose the "normal" mode of difficulty instead of the "easy" one because I have a fear I would miss something of the story if I played on "easy" mode.
Now I ask everyone here, what survival horror games that I am able to play at "easy" mode that won't punish me for choosing this difficulty? And if there are survival horror games that only let you see the whole story on "normal" mode, which are them?
For example, if I play FFrame 3 on easy mode, how much of the story I'd miss (if any)? I wouldn't be able to watch the full ending or something like that?
I'm also interested on knowing more about Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2,3 and 4, Obscure, Haunting Ground, Clock Tower 1,2 and 3 and Fatal Frame 1 on easy mode.
Any other survival horror you'd like to mention would be fine too... [smiley=detective.gif]

Status : Online | Also, at this point I'm also willing to play more survival horror games in GOD mode and infinity ammo, IF that doesn't mean I will miss a scene or the "real' ending or something like that.

Status : Offline | i am with you about wanting to experience the story and the atmosphere over having to do the action parts, but i never do god mode... i always play a survival horror game on easy the first time for that reason... after i finish it, if i really liked it and, especially, if i am given some extra weapons and stuff, then i may replay on hard (would also replay on hard for review purposes)... i know that there are some games that give you more extras for going the extra mile, like playing on hard, not saving much etc, but, iirc, there is no game that will not give you the full ending when playing on easy... parasite eve 1 will give you the "real" ending when replaying on the "ex game" mode, which is harder, but that's a different situation, since "ex game" is only available after finishing the normal mode once
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I enjoy that, I love to get my adrenalin flowing and dont mind that it makes me crazy until I can get a grasp on the controls. ( in most cases anyway )

I tend to do the same thing with all kinds of action games (and most RPGs) Helen. I play the first time through on medium difficulty and if the game is good enough to replay, I'll try it on the hardest setting - if possible without using any cheats. But there are titles with so many glitches that the patches never fully fix and others that have insanely unfair enemy AI, that it would take way too long to get through them on hard with zero cheats. At least I don't have the time nor inclination to struggle that much that long just in order to finish a game.
Cheers, Terry

Status : Online | As a rookie, newly converted to FPS and RPG I've played them in normal mode once through and if they're good enough play again in a harder mode. The 2nd time through you've learned soooooo much. The only one I ever played in Easy was SH2 and it wasn't my cup of tea.
happy trails,
Carolyn

[smiley=beer.gif] [/color] although different levels for action and puzzles is the best idea ever conceived for the survival horror genre, only silent hill 2 and 3 feature that (where i too selected easy/hard the first time)... all other sur.hor games have one level that either affects the action only or both action and puzzles

| Deleted User | Alway use 'easy' mode for fighting and 'hard' for puzzles.
If easy is not an option and I get killed about 3 times in a row I go on 'GOD-mode'.
I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Status : Offline | I played RE4 on normal mode half way and got frustriated cause I died so many times I changed to easy mode. The puzzle stayed the same. Only there were less zombies. My experience for Silent Hill 3, in easy mode for puzzle and action, I didn't have to do as many puzzle solving as in normal mode for puzzle and easy for action. Next time I'll choose normal for puzzles. It was a bit frustriating cause there were less puzzles.
It does depend on a game. I only experienced it on two games cause I played different modes. I don't play action games and I'm not a fan of action games but I do love playing survival horror games on easy mode .
God Mode seems fun but I haven't tried yet. I thought God Mode was Super Hard and didn't bother to ask my hubby about it.
I played Haunting Ground in easy mode, I still keep on reloading. Sometimes I think I REALLY suck. That ugly thing just keeps on killing me! I wonder how it will be when I play on normal mode. Maybe I can't even defeat the bosses. Hargh!
I also play rpg games on easy mode although some ppl say that it's no fun finishing rpg games on easy level but I don't mind as long as fun tops stress!
Still busy being a mom &&

How is Haunting Ground? My friend and I have been wanting to play it, (I never play anything with the potential to be scary alone) but we've already played Clock Tower 3 and they look nearly identical.
It's not wise to upset a wookie.

Status : Offline | Hello There!
I have played only one game in godmode and that was after defeating the game the first time around.
The game was Gothic, and I have to say that it did not bring me any joy whatsoever.
There was no challenge, everything was too easy.
Only outcome of it was figuring out both how to get inside the ork city by a back way without going through the front door, and killing all the orks without getting the much needed holy object so that they would not attack me.
This I did after I replayed the game in normal mode.
But Godmode to me now only is for if I want to figure out a new way to play the game.
