Guys,

We all know that there are various styles of adventure games. Ranging from:

1st person 'point n click' (ie Myst, Riven, 7th Guest, 11th Hour)

to

3rd person 3D adventure (ie Grim Fandango, Escape from Monkey Island)

But what is your favourite style? Mine has to be....

2D point n click!! (Leisure Suit Larry 7, Broken Sword, Curse of Monkey Island, Discworld II).

Actually to be precise, I love hand drawn animated 2D point n clicks. Although the original computer drawn games such as Day of the Tentacle, King's Quest 6 and Simon the Sorceror are great...it is the gorgeous hand drawn cartoons that I love; it totally adds a lot of detail into the games.

Which is why I can't wait to try out this new "Runaway Road Adventure" game and I'll also need to track down "Gilbert Goodmate" as well.

I love adventure games in general but I would like to see more 2D point n clicks out there!

So what's everyone else's favourite style of adventure game?

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Alright mate,

Aye I was gonna list a whole heap of adventure game styles including text based games (ie Zork series) but I thought I'd just range it. I'm sure everyone has their preference and I'm chuffed that there are others who appreciate the fine art of 2D point n click.

By the way, you mention that Runaway was released in three different languages before the English one was recorded. Is the English recording the best version to get then? Nothing's been censored or alterted from the original version in any way has it?

You getting the English release?

don't know about that but i don't think so... the original version is the spanish one btw

You getting the English release?

yes cause i don't speak spanish, czech or german (a little german but not enough to play a whole adv)... but even if i did i'd still get the english version

Text adventure games are top of my list.

Then graphical games such as Zork Grand Inquisitor with the click-and-go interface are a distant second.

Just to show I don't have Zork-on-the-brain I'll confees to playing Tierra's re-makes of the King's Quest games and I enjoy them also.

At the moment, I'm exploring Myst III too

Independently of 2d/3d, etc I like those games that:

- are not completely linear
- do not have ANY dead ends (I just hate them!!!)
- Puzzle solution do not involve having to walk throughout ten rooms to take a fork and then return to the start.
- plot develops smoothly and mainly through written sources.

I agree with Rpautassi.  I would add that I prefer key control and third person, but can overlook that if the rest falls into place.
