Sci-Fi Friday is the first full 3-hour weekly primetime lineup I have been the least bit excited about in many, many years... perhaps ever.
Cheers, Terry

[smiley=rockin.gif] So refreshing to finally see it on tv instead of on my small computer screen. I should have ordered the UK dvds a long time ago. But for now, I can finally follow this series through weekly episodes. 8-)

I always have to laugh at the silly American TV rules. Frak? Like no one knows what that's supposed to mean! But if everyone knows what it means, why not just say f*ck and be done with it?
I thought Firefly's approach was the most original - use real swear words, only in Chinese. May be tough on the actors though.
I forgot my sig.

I know, 14 episodes I think? Well, I've already seen 6 or 7 episodes from download, but not in order I think. Anyway, I'm glad they are finally broadcasting the show on tv here. It ups the possibility that Fox reconsiders their decision to not release the series on dvd over here. Around the same time the dvd of the movie appears would be nice. 8-)

Must say, the actors handle it perfectly as far as I can say, seeing that I don't speak a single word of Chinese. But indeed, a very good solution, and one that works very well and actually makes sense in the Firefly universe. Joss Whedon has really outdone himself with Firefly! Hope he'll get other chances to launch his next creative ideas. I hear a movie of Wonderwoman is next. Normally I'd say, My God, what a crap idea, but with Whedon writing and directing it, can't wait for it to hit the big screen!

Besides, these people weren't Earthlings - why shouldn't they have their own swear word? I liked it, thought it was a neat idea.

One of my favourite swearword related stories is from The Hitchhikers Guide the the Galaxy. In order to come up with the name Slartibartfast, they started with something like Fartifukballz and gradually worked on it until they had something that they thought they would be allowed to broadcast.
